Portable Network Graphics files (PNGs) have lossless image compression, whereas JPEG requires you to trade image quality for file size reduction. Some programs don't support the selection of the image quality when saving JPEGs (notably Internet Explorer when you right-click on an image), and always save at a fixed compression level. Why not just saving pics as jpg with 0% compression. I tryed, the png and jpg pics looked 100% the same, but the jpg pic was 30-40% smaller.

nope, its 100% handmade, in PS, some color fixes, film grain and added some black lines and hairs, done in few seconds   For those who have Photoshop I made a small VERY basic tut on how to make a old movie style images. http://www.www.mmedia.is/irg/gummi/gallery/oldmovie_tut.zip
