My experience is that Memory speed is not taken into account, only CPU speed. I belive the test is done with "narrow" test that never tests the bandwith of the memory. We run on a ASUS P4PE and I have made the server use more bandwith now. It was a Switch/Gateway that limited the use. Lt_Dan_Sweden

Good news. Problem solved. It was my 3Com Gateway modell 3C855 that was not letting enough bandwith through. When I put the server directly to the Internet, I get this on 20 players CTF St Pierre

6000 on a p4 2,4 @2,7 GHz FSB 600 Still, the freaking server wont use more than 800 kBit/s of bandwidth during gameplay, so it does no good, max players is still 14-16..

Would be great if anyone you knows Fraghaus admins could find out the settings on their server. I must be doing something wrong since the above settings works for Stone-keep servers.

I found this on stone-keep.com forum Quote These are all the changes I have made to the flashpoint.cfg. Also, when you make the shortcut to start the game, you should put in the path this statement(in addition to -cfg=**blah blah**)... -config=flashpoint.cfg. -nosound is a good one too. MaxMsgSend=384; MaxSizeGuaranteed=512; MaxSizeNonguaranteed=256; MinBandwidth=128000; MaxBandwidth=384000; With these settings, SHoP runs about 600kp in and 1200-1700kp out. End Quote Did I understand correctly that you should use the following shortcut server -config=server.cfg -config.Flashpoint.cfg Anyone? My server still never uses above 800 kBit. B

I will quote this suggestion to TCZ forum. I know this is a map-making possiblity, but BIS you make default values in stockmaps and built in editors to do what ZOOK says, if you ask me. YOu should not have to be a script kiide to achive those effects. Lt_Dan_Sweden

My experience. No big performance diffrence in Linux contra Win2000 Prof. Regarding your choice of bandwidth, 155 MBit, is a wast of money, if you are paying for it, see this thread. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....t=24868 You need to use the EXACT same map, and try to get the same players to participate every time. YOu also have to behve the same way, since if its a small map, the flops will vary if you start killing alot, say CTF St Pierre. Also try using a heavy CTI map that uses alot of CPU, that way the testinviroment wont vary that much, sinca AI and logics produce uses most flops. Can you run a deddy on a BSD??? My experince is Pentium 1 Ghz 10-14 players depending on map Pentium 2,7 GHz 16-22 depending on map You cant go above 24 since the bandwith use is caped at 800 kbits over time in game. Lt_Dan_Sweden

Could you clarify? Did you see a server use 4 500 kBit/s? Or is all he is saying, that a T4 is too small? Im pastin in a messg from Skunk Monkey, in order to prove my case. Quote Hey! Yeah our SES was on 10Mbit, on very complex coop maps with many people the most every seen out while in game was 1600kbps, and generally running around 800kbps, No matter what was changed in settings. Suggestion to bis about mission downloading
Lt_Dan_Sweden replied to JustinCase's topic in MULTIPLAYER
Great suggestion JustinCase. Im a good admin ;-) but still understand the gains we could make in time. Yes IF an admin switches maps to often, he will have to wait longer, due to the reassign-finish-download effect, but we can relearn. My experince is that most servers spend more time in the SETUP screen than in the MAP screen, so why not let the download start during the SETUP (where you choose side and roll during a map) Regards Lt_Dan_Sweden -
regarding the Loosing connection see http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....l=linux

Yes Confirm the XML problem with 1.90 dedicated Linux on clients 1.85 and 1.90. The server hangs for 3-6 seconds every time a players with XML connects. I reinstalled the 1.88b and the problem of hanging disappears and the old ERROR LOG appears and the server crashes more often... Lt_Dan_Sweden

I have noticed this problem too. The corpse-disappearing-setting, seemed to be better on version 1,75. Regards

I noticed some missions dissapeared for me too. I belive it was all that contained - for example 2-5_COOPERATIVE.EDEN.PBO which is an original. Anyone else? Lt_Dan_Sweden

Thanks a lot. It works great. Lt_Dan_Sweden

Ofp craches 60% of all the times a play
Lt_Dan_Sweden replied to ZenIT_SWE's topic in TROUBLESHOOTING
Please help him. We play in the same clan, and I believe he is being a bit humble about the magnitude of the problem. He crashes all the time.... We haven'nt played more than 30 mins toghether, in total, if i sum up all his attempts in these past weeks. His record is 10 mins without crash or so. He has been an active player daily for many months on same ISP and on another HW. Thats why I belive its a HW-OFPR problem. Regards Lt_Dan_Sweden -
I think its not that people don't search. The search tools not easy to learn, and it has bugs. Bugs I have noticed. 1 Sometimes the Search engine doesn't register my choice in the scroll menus. Example: I search for keywords "ABC 123" Choose "Posts and or Topic Titles" Choose "Multiplayer" Choose "Topic Titles and Posts" Choose "The beginning" AND "Newer" Sometimes I get result "Not found try again, or something like that" But i get that answer below one second of search. We alla know a search takes at least 2 seconds. So i go back, and press (yes click all choices again even if they can be seen as chosen): Choose "Posts and or Topic Titles" Choose "Multiplayer" Choose "Topic Titles and Posts" Choose "The beginning" AND "Newer" I don change the keyword "ABC 123" Voila, now it searches for 2-3 secs and i get the results. Bug 2 If I do a search on "MEMBER name" I can't go back more than a couple of month. June 23 on AVON Lady for example. Even thogh post prior to June 23, by Avon can be accessed by searching on TOPIC or TITLE? Education need? I still don't understand, with certainty, the difference between a search "This Month" AND "Newer" compared to "This Month" AND "Older" does? Is "This Month" AND "Older" same as "The Beginning" AND "Newer"? And also equal to "Today" AND "Older"? All you Search gurus, give us noobs some power-search tips.. Thx Regards Lt_Dan_Sweden
