Sounds like a load of cra- I mean speculation, to me. Also note the release date and publisher info.

From your description, it sounds like a Guard WP+trigger might do the trick for Bravo. Alpha could be given a Sentry WP, or even just a patrol route with a West Detected trigger set to have one of them pop smoke. Guard does take a bit of fiddling to get it working properly, but it seems like it would be the way to go. Guard WP discussion (also contains links to two other discussions.

Oh my god. Guitar Shred Show is awesome!

I'm sure the devs at least take a look here every so often. The usual reason devs don't respond in forums like this is that, well, they've got better things to do with their time. Like developing. It takes time to look through the forums, and even more time to respond. I wouldn't be surprised to see a bunch of good suggestions from here make it into the final game (or at the very least the testing phase).

What can I say? You're insane! Definitely nifty. Nice job on this.

Remember, folks. Rule number one in marketing speak is to use bold, sweeping statements that can't actually be backed up.

Actually, just like most industries, it's less about your folio (not that it isn't important, mind you) than about knowing the right people. Networking is king. Some guys I've spoken to in the industry essentially got their jobs because they knew someone in the company who then dropped some good words. Again, not that the folio isn't important.

Sodaplay. It's crack.

From what I've seen, the only units you get to actually play as are various spec ops. In the single player stuff it's Specnaz, and there are other options when playing multi, like SAS, Delta, GSG-9, etc. After playing for a bit, I gotta say. This game is frigging brutal. Pretty cool, though, so far. The engagements take place in relatively sizeable environments, graphics are pretty good, sounds are serviceable. But yeah. Brutally difficult, at least that's my initial take.

Oh for crying out loud. "Alfa Project Exception". Then a bunch of gobbledygook that I'm assuming would be cyrillic if I had the right language files. Argh. edit: Switched of hardware vertex processing in the .cfg and it loaded up fine. Looks pretty good, but seems rather inconsistent,performance-wise. Basically it runs fine except when there are units on-screen. o_O At least on my system. Gameplay is not so much your classic X-Com turn-based, but more like Combat Mission and Laser Squad Nemesis' system of planning your moves and having them played out simultaneously in 10-second chunks. It's not too bad, but the interface can be a little clunky. I don't particularly like the camera movement, either. But, it has potential.

Cor! 12,000-some files and 2.4gb unpacked! edit: And I see why now. No packaging up of files. No encryption. No nothing. Everything is open. .skel files, .skin files, lua scripts, textures, everything is completely open. Should be fun to screw around with.

You can just love winrar compression I didn't even notice the original size after unpacking until you mentioned it - DMA-EuroGuer.rar: 7.2MB Unpacked: 40MB Nice compression ratio. Oh, took a look at the units. Really nice stuff. The variety of different looks is superb, and I haven't even had the chance to look at the EastRes units yet.

Spiffy! And at only 7+ megs.

Nope, you'll need to call the script via radio trigger (the most convenient being Radio Juliet, since that translates to 0-0-0), or action menu.

Ah, cool. Saw this a couple days ago on Filefront, but was looking for more mirrors, since the >1gb filesize meant needing a Fastpass subscription.

Holy crap, there's like no ground clearance on that pickup! Nice work on the jobs you put up pictures of.

Only problem (could be minor, could be major, depending on the situation) is that you lose any form of player control when the camera is active. In other words, make sure you're at high altitudes and quite clear.

Some deer would be nice. Be vewwy vewwy quiet. I'm huntin' deer.

I didn't know the man, but I do remember him. May those Marines rest in peace. My condolences to their families and loved ones.

The one I've been relatively active in is GarageGames, which was formed by (and is still run by) former members of the team that developed Tribes and Tribes 2. Great community, relatively mature, and lots of good stuff happening.

Maybe it's just me, but I've noticed over the past year or so, an appalling number of broken installers in games that I've purchased and demos that I've downloaded. Don't get me wrong, I know there have been pretty fubar'd installers prior (Myth 2, Pool of Radiance anyone?), but it just seems to have gotten a little more prevalent. Okay. I know companies must think that their game is so shit hot that consumers will be so incredibly eager to play that they won't bother changing any of the default options when they install. But really. If your installer allows me to choose a directory to install to, I expect it to install to that directory. And if you give me a choice of optional components (HL2, CS:source), I expect the installer to run without a hitch if I choose not to install one of those OPTIONAL components, and not bomb out and rollback at the end of a half-hour installation because it couldn't find a file that was on the NEXT DISK. Yes, I know you must think CS:Source is the hottest thing on the planet, and EVERYBODY wants it. If that's the case, and you can't be bothered to ensure that the installer will work without it checked, then DON'T GIVE ME THE OPTION. And look. I know companies must think that their game is so shit hot that nobody would even think to uninstall the thing, but christ, test the damned things anyway. The number of games and demos that have simply refused to uninstall over the past year is ridiculous. Most recently, with PoP:T2T refusing to work on my system (recent versions of Starforce and Securom have only succeeded in CTDing on my laptop before even getting to a title screen), I decided to uninstall it. Only to get a "component not found" error on some obscure dll. Bloody hell.

about swaying grass - hope you can turn it off
LoTekK replied to jantenner's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
I think the best thing about moving foliage, shrubbery and grass, is the simple fact that you can no longer rely on the "shoot anything that moves" principle. -
I dunno, I reckon it looks pretty damned good. More foliage than you can shake a stick at. But honestly guys, isn't it a little early to bash a game that we barely know anything about? I mean, I know we all love BIS, but c'mon now. Oh, MRO, the ArmA pic you hotlinked is >100k.

Maybe I just have bad luck then. I can't chalk it up to my system setup, either, since I've experienced bad installers on three rather different boxes. The CSS problem happened when I chose to install HL2 without CSS, since I never actually play the game. However, the way the installer was setup, if you skip the CSS install, it looks for the next file in the archive (actually the VERY LAST ONE, a readme, iirc) in the 4th .cab instead of the 5th (evidently they hadn't expected anyone to skip the CSS install). Mind you it took me a few installs in various manners (from the CDs, copying the CDs to a local directory on the HDD, etc) before figuring out why it kept bombing out. On a related note, whatever happened to installers confirming if you want to roll back? Bloody hell the HL2 installer couldn't find a file, and simply rolled back literally at the end of the install. I dunno about you, but that's a lot of time wasted. But yeah, I guess I just seem to have developed some bad luck with installers.

Yeah, from what I've heard, the TMP is a very nice piece of kit. It's supposedly very controllable on full auto with the arm loop in place.
