    1.55 patch, on dedicated server

Ok looks like I'll have to wait before I update. There is too little information available about this update.

    Xp and 1.55

can someone please explain whether this executable in the zip file is a patch or a straight exe that will run the game? Also, depending the answer to the above question, do you run the exe with command line parameters to start a dedicated server? I would like to implement this new netcode to the dedicated server that i run asap. Just don't have any details on this so far...

    Landscape?

those system specs are not really suitable for ofp..
  4. Waypoint(Move) -----> Waypoint(Scripted) -----> Waypoint(Move) In the scripted waypoint put the name of the script (dostop.sqs) In the script put DoStop @Trigger1 exit Put trigger1=false in your characters init field Then make a trigger for your command, in activation, put something like Trigger1=true Should work, because he'll halt in his waypoints for a scripted command, as soon as that script exits he'll resume his waypoints.

    Turrets all point one way?

I think only Suma or another OF Developer can answer us this...
  6. Players can find after some time playing Operation Flashpoint online, suddenly they are taking 2 minutes to connect. Mostly this happens to modem players, but can also happen to those on ADSL or CABLE.. this must be very frustrating for them, as players already in the game yell for them to be kicked, because it appears their connection is too slow to play well anyway. This is often incorrect, and good players who deserve a game are missing out. Their connections are viable, they just have something preventing timely connection. Hopefully some of this will help: Possible causes for slowness: Unneeded folders/files stored under the C:\Program Files\CodeMasters\ DIR. There should only be the OFP directory under Codemasters, nothing else. Under Codemasters\Operation Flashpoint\ BIN\ Campaigns\ DTA\ Missions\ MPMissions\ Users\ Worlds\ tmp\ Flashpoint.cfg Gamespy is3Dfx.dll Operationflashpoint.exe OpflashPreferences.exe ReadMe.chm ReadMe.French.chm ReadMe.German.chm ReadMe.Italian.chm ReadMe.Spanish.chm Register SETUP.LOG UnInstall.exe ____ Now after some upgrades and sound addons like Satchell's, there are a few extra files in there. So do not go deleting things unless you are sure. Basically the rule for the OFP Dir is this: Any files stored under Codemasters\Operation Flashpoint\, ZIP etc, that are addons, upgrades, do not store them in the OFP directory, put them elsewhere. Even though it seems a logical place. Since OFP appears to scan its directory structure at many points in the game, you may find it slows down. The ADDONS\ Dir ..should only contain the addons  you use most frequently. When OFP starts i think it must load and index every addon it has available in this directory. If you play online using only the official addons, remove the extra ones until you do use them, because you might be sacrificing speed performance for no reason. Users\<PlayerName>\ Directory: This directory is where all your custom made missions reside, as well as your custom faces. Try and keep these clean, your missions are fine, but if you have a million .jpg's and .pbo's in this directory to use as custom faces then remove them to storage, and keep only the current face.jpg you are using. (Btw, yes, if you have a face.jpg in the proper ofp design and format in your player directory, you can have a custom face) Once again I'd like to thank MINION for the excellent investigative work he has done into connection speed problems. This has given great insight into how OFP functions, which is a great help for modem users. I have not seen this sort of information anywhere so great work MIN Regards,

    Geforce4 framerates disappointing inofp

Damnit I have an ASUS Geforce4 Ti4600, but I am running an Athlon 900Mhz Thunderbird... so it appears I won't get to enjoy this video card until I upgrade my CPU.. I don't suppose my motherboard will be compatible either, so there goes that. Ohhhh need $$$$ now..

    Turrets all point one way?

No, these are empty tanks.. there is no AI in them, Basically. I place 5 tanks, and all turrets will face North. This is not a problem... Except, if you want them close, side by side, or beside a building,t hen they bounce around. And besides, WHY do they do that?!? its really bugging me, I dont' care about them bouncing around, I just want to know why because i cannot think of any possible reason for them to do it..

God damn, that moral is terrible All the people who read hte thread looking for better performance options will be crushed, lol Basically, MORAL of the story is more $$$$ spent on PC = Better performance.

    Turrets all point one way?

Ok.. well if that was the case, I wouldn't of asked. If I position 4 tanks all facing east, the turrets will all be aligned with North.. i'm just wondering why this occurs, it is only in multiplayer online.
  12. for some reason, after using DBPowerAmp successfully for many weeks, It suddenly crashes every time I try to convert to .ogg at constant bitrate (ofp requires constant apparently). So thats out for me, I saw some other software mentioned, Avon, audio wizard, got a link? Cheers,

    Unofficial addons in multiplayer

There needs to be an option where the addon .pbo files are pushed out to the client (the player) during the load of the mission. Now if these addons are 10mb, well thats not going to be very practical. But you can set it so that anything under 5mb will be pushed out to the client, which would enable more support for mod makers to have their fantastic creations actually used in missions. Or simply do not crash the client to the desktop, return them to the player waiting screen where they may enquire as to where addons maybe found. I do not use addons on our server, as coordinating 30 odd people to make sure they have an addon before starting a mission is tedious to say the least. i will way for updated addon support or official addons.

    Veteran mode

Does this apply to dedicated servers? What do dedicated servers run as by default?

    Did this admin act fairly?

You can be a n00b when joining a new server even though you've played for months. Basically you are in a new environment and what may be permitted / done on another server isn't necessarily done there, and you get called a n00b. Its not a major issue, it's totally understandable. I have some new players come all the time on our server and the bring in fresh tactics and ideas about things which is fantastic for the players. They keep learning and developing themselves.

    Ctf and c_h map making!

Nice work Karr I am modifying some of my maps too.. Not going to worry about the messages, because it's unrealistic to begin with.. unless the flag is boobytrapped and there is a tripwire attached so when it is taken an alarm sounds? heh I am modifying the alarm perimeters in my mission to reward people who go to the effort of sneaking in, whereas the alarm will sound if you just charge down the road towards the flag. So flag alarm triggers will be more precise and exclude bushes etc.. I'll trial this and see how it goes. I always want to adjust trigger height so if you stand up in the bushes it activates because you aren't as covered but if you crawl its all good. See how it goes.

    Did this admin act fairly?

Basically I answered no, he did not act fairly because in my experience as an admin, you are a player first, admin second. You are one of the guys too, and he has to realise that, when you play a multiplayer game, you give shit to each other. He wasn't a very professional admin, you do not say stuff like he said when you are running a server. You maintain profesionalism. I live in Australia and admin an ofp server and I never kick for my own reasons. If someone gives me shit, I give it back, like any other player would. If I receive a abuse, or a player abuses another player to a point where playability of the game is compromised, then I warn him and kick him so he sits a game or two out. Most admins who know how to run a server would do the same..

    Ofp running slow

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (UKPUSHER @ April 26 2002,11:51)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">WOW i just noticed u running it at 32 bit .. NOOOOOOOO change it to 16 everyone runs it at that otherwise it will be slow DOH!<span id='postcolor'> eeww.. don't tell people to run at 16bit.. 16bit is terrible, it also makes everything look really dodgey, the graphics engine of OFP is designed around 32bit color, all the textures are designed for 32bit, the game will generally look and run better with 32bit..

    Strange bugs in 1.46

    1. Infinite M60's and PK's. make a mission in the editor with a west machinegunner and a east machinegunner. kill the east guy and go take his PK, see what happens. 2. if you grab any addon that uses a custom grenade class... Select THis's SEB Delta FOrce uses FLashbangs, for example, No custom grenade class will work in a single player mission, but they will work in the mission editor preview. And here's the kicker... if you want your grenades to work in a single player mission... you just don't include a briefing!!!

Game wont start even if all green

We rarely get this problem, but I find it happens when people disconnect as we are choosing our roles, or sides. If people choose a role or a side and then disconnect there can be the issue of the ghost process.

    Patches and mission pack

Sounds like your CD is either scratched or faulty. Or the .pbo on your hdd is corrupted. Reinstall the entire game, delete the original directory first. Yes you do need to install all the patches. If you wish to play old versions of games go right ahead

Most fun multiplayer map for ofp!

What is your favourite multiplayer map? Post here what maps you love to play, and where you found them. I am really looking for some fun maps that work with 1.46/1.49 server and don't require unofficial addons.

    Performance issues

No. W-Buffer may help with people in 16bit color mode, normally people should have 32bit color, and disable W-buffer.
