That is one of the things they specifically said was fixed. Tank stopping power. What I would love to see is dust come up the front of the tank as it skidds to a halt! *drool*
-
Hmm, they didn't say the engine would be stronger up hills, does anyone know how well a tank does climbing slopes?
-
I believe it was along the lines of sneaky people disconnecting the incoming traffic to their PC, only allowing outgoing traffic, and shooting people, then reconnecting incoming traffic. It stops them getting shot while they run around and shoot people. Or I could be totally wrong..

No it's ok, I stuffed up. He said "Resistance patch (1.85) will be out soon, it is currently in the final developement stages. The same is true for linux dedicated server." Which I now correctly interpret to mean they will be released around the same time. But it doesn't promise they'll be released together.

Wonder when they'll be done with it...<span id='postcolor'> What makes you say it will be a seperate release? I thought Suma said that the Linux dedicated server would be released with 1.85 patch.

Do you think the bicycle will start smoking when damaged? So far everything in that feature list looks bloody fantastic, finally a sniper class for the Resistance! Half of these bugs I did not even know about, BIS have certainly done well with this patch. Having better tank physics is an excellent improvement. And there is a lot of new editing features which mission makers will have to explore. I wonder if people can get a chopper to land reliably now?
-
The other one is closed mate There are many new possibilities with this new patch which need to be discussed somewhere
-
Maybe... one day when BIS has too much money, they can have developers dedicated to making patches for the mentally challenged...catering for those who cannot handle staying up to date with the latest versions of the product.

Er.... right. No linux for 1.46, go buy Res. Or if you have it, use it, you silly bastards. Now, does anyone know if multiprocessor support will come with the new patch?
-
VON? Big deal.. my god.. you play an OLD version of a game simply so you can use the built in voice? Gameplanet has a teamspeak 2 server setup if people want to use the VON. I mean yeah it was great how it was setup built in, and it would be nice when it comes back, but who cares, balance that against all the other new features Res brings to the game and its pure madness to shun Resistance so you guys can abuse each other over voice. And believe me, as a dedicated admin I rarely EVER saw voice used for something constructive. I went to great lengths to turn VON off when the feature was available. And as far as "lose voice and gain a motorcycle" that is just stupid and considering how many features and improvements Resistance introduces you are showing great ignorance. But those who whine the loudest are usually the ignorant

Oi, we can't easily move to linux actually, heh We don't have any spare Linux boxes, and we can't turn the current Windows Box into a Linux box because other stuff is on there aswell.

What the HELL? How many crazy people out there are still playing 1.46? Are you INSANE? I had no idea people were still playing 1.46.. Its like finding out people are still playing 1.20.. I have some legit questions that are actually relevant though, does anyone know if Multiprocessor support will be improved? Does that go hand-in-hand with the CPU utlization fix? Regards,
-
All the things people complained about 1.46 was fixed in Resistance. So Resistance is a continuation on from 1.46, (otherwise Resistance would start at 1.0 ) BIS intend that if people want improved features, they follow the upgrade path from 1.46 to 1.75. If you play 1.46 you must accept that new and improved features are introduced in the latest version. Resistance might be an expansion but its what the original OFP has evolved into.

I still have no offical answer. Ive seen alot of go here, and locks but no answers. And i dont consider "coming soon" or "on the way" as answers to my question. Some people may think those are quality answers but im do not. We have been waiting for this a real long time, and id like to know if alot of us players are gonna be left in the cold again. Im not interested in RES or 1.85 ATM; I just want a yes or no about 1.46 and LINUX. and few things that id like to share: glocks arent that accurate wtf do we need civ bicycles for, this isnt the great escape. THX for fixing the tanks, well that is if i can use any of this or if i have to buy 1.85, it looks about as useful as 1.60 and RES.  more stuff to not work right.<span id='postcolor'> Why the hell should there be a patch for an old version of OFP? 1.46 is outdated. You need to forget about 1.46, 1.75 is where we are at and that is where the support should be. I do not want BIS wasting their time playing with outdated versions of OFP, the rest of us love Resistance and BIS should concentrate their energy on the latest version. Linux is for Resistance, as Resistance is the latest version of OFP. 1.46 is Directplay (old and crappy), the new sockets netcode was written for Resistance, so the Linux dedicated will only support Resistance. Otherwise they'd be wasting their time doing a totally seperate version for 1.46. Those of you who still play 1.46 really need to realise you are hanging onto an outdated version and naturally you have no support now. Bye bye 1.46 And nobody cares what you are interested in Buwhahahah, i love stirring up rude wankers who thank BIS for improvements in the same post they criticise them. BUY RESISTANCE!

I would of thought you would realise the answer as you typed. 700Mhz is experiencing CPU lag, not network lag. The CPU cannot handle the mission aswell as the other more powerful PCs. Your choices are lowering the visual detail on the 700mhz, choosing a more simple mission with less AI, getting a better computer. 700Mhz is MINIMUM requirements, so don't expect more than MINIMUM performance.
-
If OFP2 featueres JIP I will disable it on Gameplanet for most missions. Only "frag-fest" type useless missions where we aren't taking it seriously anyway would feature JIP. When OFP gets "arcadey" is when it dies its true death.

Have another look around, there must be a dedicated server near you, if your ping is under 350ms or close to it you'll be welcome at GP. And unfortunately my opinion is that the small games and using Gamespy is for n00bs. If you use Gamespy that is fine I just hate the software and feel dirty just using it to power the OFP ingame browser.
-
He is a GaySpy using n00b but he's right. Not everyone plays on Dedicated servers. The players on Dedicated do not show the whole story. Although Dedicated is what matters really.
-
Get another stick of 128MB if you can, go for 512MB if you have the money. 256mb is the bare minimum.
-
Make sure Operation Flashpoint is not running. Go to your OFP directory \ADDONS folder and remove all NON OFFICIAL addons. The easiest way to do this is to sort by "Modified" or sort by "Date". Then go to OFP\Res\Addons\ and make sure you have not put any unofficial ones in there (n00bs do this all the time). If you have confirmed that only the official are in both directories, and there are no subdirectories of either addons folder, you should be fine. Start OFP and play.
-
Probably consistant with my running theory that the AI have eyes in the back of their heads. They probably do not need to be actually looking in that direction to spot targets.
-
Yes I agree. That is a good idea however I hope people don't always act this way when they want BIS to do something.
-
Jesus H Christ Ralph.. I really didn't need that last bit. LOL.
-
Buying the game gets you the game. Dealing with the patches and betas gets you the improvements YOU want. I agree OFP is not as popular as it should be. But that is Codemaster's fault, not BIS's.
-
HT, you seriously need to add some punctuation man. Nobody has said we do not want a Linux server. We are saying stop bitching and whining and stop accusing BIS of neglecting their duties or neglecting OFP altogether. Basically stop being ungrateful spoilt brats. BIS has not let me down since I started playing OFP. Codemasters yes, BIS no. Have some faith, you have already shown patience by waiting a year. All I am saying is don't turn on BIS simply because of problems you are experiencing hosting YOUR servers. You are not speaking for all hosts. I am having no problems waiting for the Linux port and thank BIS for their continued efforts. Regards,
