    And don't mind HT, he's just a complainer. He wants JIP so OFP can be like RtCW, and don't we just want that In coop you have the element to slightly control events when you are designing the mission. Using a bit of mission editor wizardry you can make it appear there are hundreds of AI around and still avoid lag. However in a CTF, or capture and hold, you are really only fighting the few other players, whose skill and tactics vary and you rarely get the sense of teamwork that you do when a group of you sets out on a coop mission. Many people enjoy RTS, I must admit I am yet to find any joy in these "missions".. I find it boring controlling AI, I'd very much rather be leading a group or real players into combat than creating a squad of dumb-mofo's to tag along like puppies. If I could I'd remove RTS's from Gameplanet however it's not the admin who chooses what is played it's the players, and a few still like RTS... doh.

This is incorrect. Regardless of your experience on someone's 3 player hosted server most dedicated servers have noticed a fantastic increase in performance. Server FPS is a lot higher now since the 1.88 server patch which helps with AI movement. Netcode has improved greatly, desync and lag spikes were remedied in the 1.88 server patch and further improvements will be seen in the official client and serverside patches coming up shortly. I suggest you try on some real servers before judging the netcode as a whole. Also know more about what you are talking about as the most common cause for AI jumping about is CPU lag, it means the guy you had hosting did not have a machine capable of running as server with smooth performance. I know for sure the netcode is improved because I have had positive feedback from 60+ players, the improvement was very noticable. Regards,
  4. I have a cutscene in a coop where I chopper flys in, it starts to have major engine problems and the pilot has to put it down. However as it starts to lose power I'd like to switch control to the player so he has to put it down somewhere. I was wondering what is the best way of swappin the AI out of the pilot seat and putting a nominated Player Pilot in? I tried setPos'n the pilot out, then DeleteVehicle'n him. However that works great but I then cannot move my player into the pilot seat.. Any help much appreciated. Regards,
  5. Suicide from OFPEC just suggested using UnAssignvehicle Unit for the chopper pilot before I eject him, that way OFP will let another pilot in the hotseat..

    Any decent coop should not have enemy that just stand there. You haven't been on a lot HT, and you don't really enjoy what OFP has to offer as your system doesn't handle OFP too well but we've been playing a coop called Intervention and a few others and the enemy definately do not just stand there. We have had players freaking out because the AI chased them down and killed them.

Just not coo..l If anyone knows of a way to attach a unit reliably to a vehicle so that it may enable them to fire while appearing to be a passenger of said vehicle it would be much appreciated.     We have the latest version on Gameplanet however we don't really play it much because it takes a very long time and players always have to wait.

    Addons-only dedicated public server...

    Gameplanet tried the addons path a few months ago, well quite a few actually. It is correct that you lose players. Mostly new players who connect on the fly for games disappear, so you are left with your hardcore regulars really. That is good and bad. Good because your regulars are all you want to play with mostly but they are not there all the time and the server can be quite empty with addons when without addons it would of been packed. Gameplanet is currently addons-free again and since then it has barely ever been empty in it's peak times. We chose the best of the addons available and hosted GPADDON PACKS. Winter, Jungle, and Desert. Missions were specifically designed to take advantage of these addons, and no mission was designed for the original official islands that used addons. All missions were designed on addon islands STT Desert Malden, Jungle Everon and Winter Kolgujev. With appropriate units for each Island. This made choosing a map without addons as simple as choosing an Official island. Addon packs were around 30mb each. We hosted them at Gameplanet. I think it's possible to run an addon server but you must have a large player base first, have lots of regulars, and then expect to maybe lose all except the regulars. Most players who've never been to a server before will not download 90mb of addons to play. I am thinking of having Gameplanet use addons maybe in the future but I am still deciding how to go about this.

    It would require editing the weapon itself. To have a different crosshair you'd need to make an addon sniper rifle.

    Whats just not there.

    After a while good leadership and tactics will become more and more appealing to players because at they end of the mission, they are still alive. I have lead a group of guys through several missions, e.g 12_C_Intervention and at first everyone went nuts, and promptly died, however my team survived, and after we replayed more and more wanted to join my team, so they could make it through the mission. What this game needs is leaders. If you see a better way to do something, step up, start giving orders, they may not respond at first but you might get through to them in the end.

    I totally agree with you AngusHeaf, I believe some of the "hardcore" players have maybe had their ass handed to them a few times and searched far and wide for the how. Gameplanet bans cheaters immediately, we've had 2 cheaters in the entire time we've run our server, well over a year. So it's not really a big problem for us. Most kills are legit, or caused by occasional lag. But players who take it too seriously always look for something else to blame instead of their own skill.
  21. You shouldn't be having this much trouble with it. I suggest opening the Desert Island and testing a bit. Do this: Put down an empty UH60-MG Press F2(Group) and place a West Group of infantry. Select the Office (leader) Press (F4) and make a [GET IN] Waypoint from him to the chopper. Place a soldier, not part of the group, and make it your player. Press "Preview" watch what happens.

    Fix your tk script!

    What action? Oh, and tested your script last night in two of my infantry missions. It worked pretty well. Some elustrious players on our server worked out that if you run over your teammates in a car or run over enemy at their spawn they don't get punished. However due to the way OFP treats such incidents I am not surprised. I will put a trigger that kills any player entering enemy area to compensate for that. Also they didn't go 10,000 in the area, maybe like 150meters. Not sure why.. Excellent work though, all in all

    BIS are aware of this issue and have made changes to 1.88 netcode as "part" of the fix. The other part of the dead bodies fix must be done by the client so will not be resolved until next client update. Regards,
