  1. Hmm ok, the Hilux Sport is supposed to be a 'fun' vehicle. It is not bound by reality in any way. The normal hilux people keep whining that they want it to be a technical so i've left that relatively alone. There are snipers in there because I like their black ski masks. That is all, we don't play with AI so its a non issue for us The armor was adjusted while I was learning and I thought more armor would make it go through bushes better, trees were stopping it dead. I forgot to change it down when I learned different. Now the speed of the HiluxMG i don't care about but I've always wanted the Hilux Sport to be fast and powerful, the reason it is 300 is because OFP's engine is limited, you can define speed but not overall strength of the engine. So to make it able to eat up hills like a proper V8 engine the speed is increased. These changes are quite simple, and mostly personal preference. Cheers,

    Heh I have X-BOX and will definately be getting OFP on it. BIS have done plenty of patching for OFP1/Res. As they said they have used some of OFP2 engine for XBOX, mainly from necessity, the XBOX has some memory restrictions and so terrain streaming would be required I think which is the technology that was touted for OFP2. If they spent money on developement of an enginement that is almost good enough for a game by itself they may aswell make a new game totally and bring us all the good stuff we want. You guys can be quite whiney bitches sometimes, you complain when there is no more patches but as I recall a lot complained when there IS patches. (Oh no not another patch, 13-f'ing-mb)

  5. Want to add the ability to set an alarm on the vehicle. Would like this option to be only available to the side of the player that got in the vehicle. Also want the vehicle to be locked when alarm is set. Would like the alarm to trigger when an enemy approaches within 5 meters of the vehicle. Would also like an action menu to appear when vehicle is damaged that allows player to repair the vehicle. Thanks in advance, I could probably do this myself, in 5-6 months, but a wiz could do it for me much quicker so any help is much appreciated.

  7. I made the billboard using wallpaper that ansell.com.au have on their webpage. We are designing an island exclusively for use on OGN so we are adding our own touches to it. Players are designing their residential areas, squads are designing their fortress'd villages and we are making vegas style towns etc, towns with a bit of life
  8. The Hilux in the pics is the Hilux Sport, the pack always comes with a normal one for "technical" use and a sport one for fun. Ural has the SU mounted.

    I think at the start of IL it will flash back to NAM as the veteran soldier reflects on his days there, the soldier is now involved in the East Timor conflict which will be in more modern days. This is a project worked on by BIS Australia that was going to be before OFP2 but now it will be released after it. As I think it has been rethought to be based on OFP2's engine rather than develope it's own, or use Resistance's. I was going to explain about the link between OFP2 and the soldier in IL but that would give the ending to OFP2 away and ppl would  bash me. (Or the info provided to me could be tricksome lies and in that case I know nothing :P) edit - my sig is mental after the new forums, anyone know why and how to fix??

  15. This post is in response to what I have read from a minority of people in this thread. When you create something and release it to the public you immediately take ownership of that addon, not just its good feedback, but also its bad feedback / bug reporting. I cannot under any circumstances believe a team as serious about addon making as BAS is not prepared for the "business" side of it, which is dealing with idiots and the processing of bug reports. I think in future there will need to be a "nothing but praise for the new addon" thread and a proper "bug reporting thread" Because when you download an addon, and something goes wrong, regardless of how much time / money / effort a team like BAS puts in, regardless of how informative their readme is, you are going to get people reporting the errors they encounter, and you have to be prepared for that mentally even though after all your hard work, all your dedication and sacrifice, all you really want is acknowledgement and praise. And don't get me wrong, I understand its heartbreaking hearing bug reports after 100's of hours of work. Whether a team is paid for their work is irrelevant, unfortunately when you make something you take ownership for it. Also if you WERE being paid for it and the people downloading your addons were customers, would you say a failure for them to understand how your addon works is a failure on their part, or yours? I think the answer is easy, it is your responsibility to deliver your work in a way that is easy to understand for all levels of computer literacy. Failing that you must be ready for the consequences which is a lot of stupid people asking questions. Since you aren't being paid you are totally correct, you have no obligation to do anything. The support you provide is free and appreciated. This is not a dig at BAS, its also for the benefit of those who did not take the time to read the readme for the latest BAS release. You have taken precious time from them that they could be using to further improve the addon, or provide real support for undocumented bugs. @BAS: I think you should look at the bug reports as a positive thing, appreciate when players take the time to test your product and inform you of ways to improve it. They could simply just say nothing and you would never know it had areas that could be improved. Players posting the bugs does not create the bugs, they were there to begin with upon release and thanks to players who take the time you are aware of them. All that can be said about that is for players to be CLEAR and informative and NOT rude and criticising. The time money and effort you put into these works is astounding and you should be respected and rightly so, however I do not think it justifies the attitude directed towards players on some occasions by some team members.   16. I know it happens with many other threads however that was an example and I think it applies to all addon developers and the players that use them.

    When BIS were testing the 1.88 server patch on the server we had a heap of people joining and we reached well into the 40-50 mark but not 64. Lag can be caused by the CPU simply unable to process that many network instructions for that many players, and also the server's available bandwidth would be stressed dramatically. The facts are that OFP has a much larger play area, and more data needs to be sent from server to player, and back again. Other games, that are more simple, that have a small play area, no vehicles etc, simply need to send a smaller ammount of data, e.g player location, what gun he has, what direction he is moving, etc. So they can support more players on less CPU and less bandwidth, but they compromise heavily for that privilege as you know. Now BIS have reworked network code, I think they have done all they can with the existing engine, so if you have a powerful server, at least 2.4ghz, and a nice chunk of bandwidth for the server, 32players is not a problem, or indeed maybe you can get as high as 48. OFP2 I think they are tackling it from another angle, with ideas like "terrain streaming" and stuff but I think we will need to wait and see what BIS come up with. I trust whatever it is it'll be damn fun, can't wait

    Hmm, yes it is true other developers have done Vietnam before. I did not play any of those games, because I am not aware of any other developer making a game with wide open spaces and no "invisible walls". Its because of this that I think Vietnam, truly has not been done yet, it's been "attempted" but I think we can all agree the OFP2 engine will have a lot more to offer than any of the other titles that boxed you into their "play area", had limited vehicles to play with, if any at all and won't have any of the cool new addons that the community will be able to make with the new engine. Just my personal opinion, I'd be very happy to experience Vietnam the way BIS do it
