  1. If you have problems with a team-killer then ban him from the server.. That's a pretty suitable and serious punishment. Also try to be a little more selective when you enter a server, preferably a passworded one.

People who can't behave can destroy a game in many ways even if TK:ing is disabled. They might take the only helo and go Rambo etc. You can't prevent such things. The only way to get a good game is to enter a clean server.

  2. Is it as fast as trackir? I think my trackir runs as 120 fps, but im not sure.

What does ya average webcam runs at?

I think they have something like 30fps. Of course one can get much higher but one has to pay for it as you have.

  3. I'm not sure.. I doubt that we'll change instantly when ArmA arrives in Germany. Later we might have them both on the server splitting the two days between them. Though if people needs an ArmA server to play on they will most likely find one without much effort. Finding OFP servers is not quite as easy anymore.

Personally I doubt that we'll abandon OFP before the end of this year, perhaps not even until 505 releases the game.

  4. Sorry for offtopic, but reading the forums last days is a pain..

All too true. And very sad aswell confused_o.gif

Well we haven't found all OFP bugs either. I actually found one yesterday which I think might still exist in ArmA.

If you kill the driver and gunner of a vehicle and enter as gunner the enemies wont recognizze you as a hostile target. Actually they wont recognize you at all as long as there is a dead enemy 'driver/commander' in the vehicle even if you begin killing them one by one.

About the videos.. We could need some mirrors and some compression. Close to 600mb for 7 minutes of video is kind of overkill.

  5. Those radio comms still make me cringe  confused_o.gif

I don't KNOW what YOU mean.. To be honest, they're terrible. It's like they've picked random samples and put them together. But I guess it's yet another things the community has to deal with. Hopefully they'll add the posibility to assign different voices to different combat modes. It would definitely allow us to create a voice pack far superior to what BIS brought us.

  6. Even though it would be great to get a demo I'd much rather see that they spent the time on polishing ArmA. I will be playing the demo a month or so while I will be playing ArmA at least a couple of years. So the choice of which they should focus on isn't that hard to make.

  7. just anothe quick question, when planes or helis crash do they stay as a solid object or do they disententergrate (i cant spell) into pieces? Like in ffur 2006 v2 the a10 blows into fragments, can this be implemented onto AA??? Thanks

Anything that's possible in OFP is possible in ArmA + many things which were previously impossible are now possible.

  8. I think we will see many more reviews after the 505 release and if they polish it up some more it might get better ratings, since Arma really isnt a whole new game i dont think 75% is bad.

Look at what kind of scores EA sports games or battlefields are getting, 75% is low.

Already starting to regret spending that 60 euros, well, ill see next week how badly I managed to waste those. crazy_o.gif

Well not really.. At the gamesweb.cz site NHL 2007 received 65%. They also happened to give OFP a rating of 100% so it's not that they prefer arcadish games.

Though as I've said... Most of us still enjoy playing OFP and if OFP was to be reviewed now it wouldn't receive much more than 30% for sure. So in comparison 75% sounds bloody brilliant.

  9. So it's beginning to look like ArmA is a 75% game. Not really that impressive but I had not really expected much more than that. If they would have wanted to reach the ratings OFP reached they would have needed to add all the features planned for Game2. Hopefully BIS will keep working on it by polishing the details, adding more content for the 505 release and they might be able to gain another 10%.

  10. I really feel for you, Skunk Monkey *hug*

    Terrible news  sad_o.gif

Well, FCs' report is rather discouraging  confused_o.gif

I also find it kind of odd that people are so accepting of these bugs and immediately saying things like "it's ok, they will fix this in a patch, hopefully", in this day and age  confused_o.gif

BIS has said that you need a card that supports PS 2.0 so what did he expect?

About people accepting the bugs.. There are two ways to look at it. First one is that BIS has shown that they have a good support for their games. The second thing, which is my own theory is that those who has ArmA suffers from the beta tester syndrome. Say what? I'll explain...

As ArmA has reached such few players the ones who has it feel special and fortunate to get to play it before the others. This makes the situation similar to the beta testers. As they feel chosen they tend to have an overly positive view of the product. After all, by making the product seem good it makes their chosen position even more envious to the others. Hence I've come to the conclusion to never trust the judgment of a 'beta' tester. Okay it wasn't quite on topic but in a way looking positively at the product and future patches is just what I was talking about.

  11. Making a Baghdad with minimal amount of objects meaning that you make the houses, light and telephone poles, roads, fair amount of trees + some bushes and a few things like road signs would force you to place perhaps 100 million objects.

The biggest real town suitable for ArmA in my opinion would be one with something around 5.000-10.000 inhabitants. At least if you aim to reproduce the real town with fairly realistic layout of houses, trees, roads and other objects + surrounding areas.

Here's an example.. The town of Krk (real Morton) with a population of just 5.500. Even trying to copy a small town like that takes ages and in my opinion the town is big enough for the game.

  12. Would is be possible that BIS would be nice enough to allow us to assign a voice to a certain behaviour mode? So when being in stealth mode the player will use the stealth voices and when in combat mode the players will shout the orders.

I don't demand or hope that BIS actually records all those new voice files but merely that they add the posibility to do so in a future patch. If it's made possible the community can take it from there. Imagine the immersion of having whispering soldiers in stealth missions and shouting grunts when in combat. If this was possible it would also be easy to make suitable expressions depending on mode. A safe soldier doesn't have the same vocabulary as one who is being fired upon.

So I would appreciate if some BIS guy could give it a thought and if it's not too complicated add the modding posibility.
