Well the fact is that America won most of the battles but they lost the war. So its not odd that the soldiers usually win the battles in the movies.

By this time South Vietnam also floated the fifth largest navy in the world (with 1,500 ships) and fielded the fourth largest army in the world (with 1.1 million troops). Nixon resumed bombing of North Vietnam in response to the North Vietnamese 1972 Easter offensive, and mined North Vietnamese ports and bombed Hanoi and Haiphong in late 1972. Such pressure was intended, at least in part, to force North Vietnam to sign an armistice. In early 1973 the United States, North and South Vietnam, and the Viet Cong signed an armistice. American military activities in Cambodia and Laos, which had continued after the cease-fire in South Vietnam went into effect, ended in 1973 when Congress cut off funds. During the early months of 1974, the North Vietnamese army advanced from the north and west on the southern capital. They soon surrounded Saigon with an ever-tightening perimeter. Saigon fell to the Communists on 29 April 1975. On the morning of April 30, 1975, the last Marine boarded a CH-46 helicopter atop the American Embassy in Saigon and took off eastward disappearing into the blue horizon. It was 21 years after the first advisors arrived in country and nearly three years after the last combat troops withdrew." Sounds like they lost to me...

They lost. They were forced into signing a peace treaty. That is the same as a loss.

Even if he was a CIA or mossad operative (which I doubt) it would not be justified. To the question... They snatched him because they wanted their friends released (the people held on Cuba). They didn't get their way and they tortured and killed the journalist. Now, shouldn't America do the same to one of the terrorists? After all, an eye for an eye. If everyone keeps playing soft with those idiots they will keep on taking and taking and we will keep on yielding and yielding. Simply state that for every westerner or allie to the west they kill, we kill one of theirs in the exact same way. 1. Would that stop future attempts? 2. Would it be right to do this? 3. Well, currently we are at option '2'. But I also think there has been tendencies towards option '1'. We will never go quite as far though, not officially any way. The "advantage" these guys have is the simple fact that they are terrorists. Small cells of operatives that don't have to think a lot about elections, public opinions or morals really. Another advantage is the fact that they are of a more aggressive nature, they have less to lose and fewer restrictions imposed on them. Its hard to fight people like that, especially when you tie one hand on your back and use the other one to cover your eyes.

"what did he say? is any of his threads still up?" The guy had 2 posts to his name, which was Rasisti. His post consisted of text explaining that he knew how to solve the problem with Islam and then he had placed some seven or eight big pictures of nukes in the post. I didn't bother as much about the text as I did about the fact that he bogged down everything with his friggin pictures.

For those that think you can act like retards just because you get a random IP when you connect...you DO know that you can still be traced back to your ISP right? And you do know your ISP can terminate your account if they get complaints about you? I wish the mods here would give me Someone's (Rasisti's) latest IP so I could trace it back and file a complaint. Way to go Hilandor. Good to see a forum moderator with some guts and sense of comitment. And by that I don't mean to this game per say but rather to the whole of internet. People need to learn that regular manners apply to the internet aswell.

I mean, they had not been contacted about this particular exercise as far as I understand it. Everyone in the area knew there were exercises now and again but there is no way the cops could know those guys were soldiers.

Well,this is what happens when there is bad communication. A friend of mine was a part of a similar accident when he did his service, but no one got shot. He and his squad had been sent to a field storage building on an exercise. Him being the squads HMG gunner he took post on the only road leading to the building together with one other guy. After a while a police car pulls up. The guys thought they were a part of the exercise and thus everything was gonna get done by the numbers and then some. Two cops step out and start walking up the road. Halfway to the two guys position they yell for the police officers to stop and ID themselves. "Huh? Who's there?" is the response from the baffled cops. "Good acting..." my friend thinks. He yells back that its the Swedish army and thats all they need to know. The cops didnt seem to impressed as they walk on up the road. My friend yells two more times for them to halt, the cops keep on coming. So he opens up with his HMG, with blanks. He fires an entire belt from the time they start running to the time they duck behind their car. Then the officer in charge comes running down from the storage and gets to try and sort everything out. The deal was that some locals had thought someone was breaking in to the storage and called the cops. The cops had no idea there was an exercise and my friend thought the cops were a part of said exercise. I reccon someone was lucky that the cops never returned fire.
