    The Iraq thread 3

Organisations like that always think twice, and probably a couple of times more. Many times they still go in though (probably because they have a genuine interest of actually helping, and help is also needed even if the area is dangerous. Actually, that IS when help is needed).

    The Iraq thread 3

People should have thought twice before invading and occupying instead.

    Ouija board

Never used it, never will, for two reasons. 1. If its fake, its a waste of time. 2. If its not, its treading on way dangerous grounds. And last time I checked my city didnt have a local branch of Ghostbusters...

    Swedish foreign minister attacked

The Swedish foreign minister was attacked today in a Swedish mall. She is now in hospital, with serious stab wounds. More info for Swedes here http://www.aftonbladet.se/vss/nyheter/story/0,2789,358945,00.html

Microsoft must pay $610m fine to eu

Yes there is actually. There is an average for everything and the "casual user" is commonly just that, an average user. And the average user, across the board, doesnt really know much about his or her computer, and definately not much about the software and hardware inside it. So they will settle for anything that works sufficiently, and dont really have the need for much else.

Microsoft must pay $610m fine to eu

I dont have a source for you but I know for a fact that Microsoft donates loads of computers and softwares to schools for example. Now, this isnt necesserily a bad thing. As long as cash donations are made aswell to worthy causes, its no big deal. You donate what you can, and for someone with specific products it comes close to hand. Not really true. The majority of users dont care enough about what they use. They settle for whats preinstalled when they get their PC and only when they actually need something specific will they go out and look. The people on this forum are not really the average (or "casual") computer owner, which in fact is responsible for a large part of the consumption in the industry.

    Swedish foreign minister attacked

This is one of the few cases where I support the death penalty, because there is no way as far as I can see that this guy will ever be rehabilitated.

Easily solved by getting 1. A CD or DVD burner 2. A memory bird thingie

Microsoft has subs in Europe. They can be held liable I reckon, if nothing else works. Further more, its an international and multinational company. They can be taken to court just like anyone else.

    Swedish foreign minister attacked

Thats not cynical, thats fact. We have had several cases where people have murdered others for the pure reason of ending up in jail. Some because its better in jail than being a poor SOB in an under developed country. Others because jail is the only stable point in their life. Others still because jail is a good place to make contacts. And with the system being as it is, you can still do crime on your outings from jail. Its a win - win situation. If you are a loser that is ; )

    Swedish foreign minister attacked

Yep. That means he will have his first vacation in a couple of months and be released in about 10 - 12 for good behaviour.

    The Middle East part 2

In the case of the riot in Sweden, the people attacking the police most likely cared very little about Palestinians. Or Israelis for that matter. They were probably what we'd like to call "proffesional rioters". Aparently many of the demonstrators left the scene when these guys started taring the place a part. They also threw acid at the police, K9's and horses. Hope they "tripped" on the way to the police car. Pricks.

    Albanian terror on kosovo

A couple of my friends are currently serving in that area and last I heard several Swedish soldiers had been wounded. So asking what they are doing is extremely disrespectful to the guys getting pounded on from all directions in their attempts to enforce and keep the peace. Maybe they should just pack it up and go home. Let the people police themselves. We saw how well that worked the last time around...

    Don't loot.

And they also made the guys life much harder in the process. Most likely forcing him to loot even more to survive. I am quite sure many of the looters stole because they needed it to survive. While that doesnt make it right, it does mean that if you make their life even harder, the likelyhood of them stealing again doesnt really decrease.

    Don't loot.

I guess its just proof of American peace-keeping incompetence and gung-ho mentality of GI's. The situation should never have gone down that way, the soldiers should have arrested them. Plain and simple. And impounding the car seems like a more logical solution than crushing it. And before anyone says "This was the early days and crime was rampant." thats where the incompetence bit comes in. The US and their allies should have planned and prepared for it, so that these soldiers had an option and obligation to act otherwise.

    Explosion in madrid

I respect them to. The only problem is that it doesnt matter, it doesnt change anything. Terrorists dont give a damn. And the protest had no clear political goal, it wont lead to any changes.

    Us presidential election 2004

No, so please enlighten me. Walking into someones home with a shotgun and shooting their dog is illegal in most civlised countries. killing a dog in self defence is a completely different however.

    Explosion in madrid

And in addition to Denoirs suggestion of humint and spec ops I'd also like to add that the potential recruitment base in European countries have to be better integrated with the domestic culture, so those people do not want to be involved in terrorism. That will make it even harder for the terrorists to find support, and it would hopefully also mean that "their own" would work against them.

    Explosion in madrid

No, they will attack anyone who helps their enemies. Thats the difference. America is the enemy, and Spain is their ally. Spain would most likely not have been attacked this way if they hadnt been tight with the US. Thats true. But it wont help. This kind of terrorism cant be defeated with force. They are using the same kind of reasoning, which is the reason this situation has been created in the first place. Nobody needs to be whiped out for this situation to be solved. Drastic measures are needed, yes, but massmurder isnt one of them. More killing will only lead to more violence.

    Explosion in madrid

You cant compare Spains situation to the US, totally different politics behind it. And Europe has been under terrorist attacks for decades, this is just one of the few big ones, and thank god there hasnt been many of those. As for understanding the actions of George W Bush, this doesnt quite help me figure him out in anyway. But maybe if Spain liberates Iraq from its current oppressive regime everything would turn out fine?

    1. In this girl, You (the US) has a daughter that is threatened by the dog (irag). Who is that daughter in the analogy? 2. Killing peoples animals is a crime, no matter how you put it. 3. And to make the analogy correct, its more along this line: "You get a shotgun and breach the door of his house. On the way in, you shoot a couple of his other dogs in the heat of it all. You also, by accident, shoot out the TV, the phone, the fusebox, the water heater and the AC unit. Then you shoot the dog. You then tell the neighbor, you'll buy him a new dog and help him choose a better one that will be friendlier to your kids. You then get your oldest son to move in and supervise the new dog under gun point. You also give him a couple of fuses for the ruined fusebox, an old gas driven boiler and a black and white TV without antenna to bring the house back to modern standards." Thats a bit more along the line of the situation in Iraq I reckon.

    Explosion in madrid

Ducks in a barrel. I take the train every day between Malmo in Sweden and Copenhagen in Denmark. I wouldnt even want to imagine a bomb on one of the morning trains at the Copenhagen Central Station.

estimate on the news, 65 killed, hundreds wounded. aparently the centralstation was targeted.

    Mystery plane siezed in zimbabwe

Ah yes, thats the place. Thanks Hellfish And the funny thing is that if the operation has been planned properly, no evidence will ever be found. Ah, heaven for conspiracy theorists. Damned if they do, damned if they dont.
