Idea for a complex aiming system

Yes. (I'm talking about AK-47, don't know about other assault rifles). It's not easy if you want to hit the target with one shot. (100 meters away) Not as easy as it's in Arma. :D

Idea for a complex aiming system

You have a point. But if BIS would make lining up the ironsights of an AK as difficult in game as it is in real life (and hit the target), nobody would ever play Arma (with AK atleast). There's a reason why in Arma or any other "shooter" you can hit enemy in a few seconds at that distance with fireing a few bullets, while in real life you can't. It's a game. :)

    Raven Shield question

Oh, ok. Thanks for the info, JonPL. You saved me from some frustration. :D
  4. Yeah, that video makes sense, because the guy keeps magazines on his lef side. When I was in the army, we had magazine pouches (well it was kind of a bag for four magazines) on our right hip. It would be definitely easier for left handers. It would feel awkward for me to reload an AK with left hand, though. Well, force of habbit I guess. TBH, I've never tried it, so I don't really know how that would turn out. :D

    Raven Shield question

NORG didn't hurt anyone yet, as far as I know. :D More NORG, I say! (in Arma too) Odd thing: Yesterday I installed RVS gold at my brother's, Iron wrath cd-key seems to be invalid. The same for my friend that bought RVS gold just yesterday. Does anybody else have this problem?
  6. Nice vid, Viper. Bipod deployment looks good, nice feature. Two things I dislike. 1. Crawling is actually gliding on your belly while holding the weapon with your both hands. 2. I've never seen anybody reloading an AK-like weapon with his left hand. IRL ofcourse. Why do developers do that? Because it looks cool?

Text problems in both Free and OA

Do you have a gaming device (joystick, wheel) attached to your PC?
  8. It would be great if they made Hidden & dangerous 3. 2K Czech is basicly Illusion Softworks, isn't it?

Just bought this. Need some help.

Are you sure your GFX card isn't overheating? If it isn't, try changing Video memory setting in Video options - Advanced. If it's on Default, try High or Very high. Not sure if this would help, but no harm in trying.

Oh my God, will this ever stop....:( It's a miracle that human race haven't obliterated itself in a nuclear war yet. My sympathy to Norwegians.

    Animation Improvements in ArmA 3

Nice to see another NORG "follower". :) I don't think jump (as jumping in the air vertically) belongs in Arma, I'd rather call it like you said. As DMarkwick pointed out, we already have step-over animation, maybe it could be improved. +1 It would be, how can I put it ... "hazardous". :D @all I think "jump" was represented quite well in Hidden & dangerous 2.

Forces Spéciales, a must-be-seen french movie

Maybe you're right, but I'll decide for myself if I like the movie or not. ;)

Forces Spéciales, a must-be-seen french movie

I understand that people have their thoughts about war etc., but why does a thread about a movie has to go offtopic like this and turn into a political debate? It's just a movie. I'll watch it, and if it's any good, I'll even enjoy it. That's all there is to it.

    Raven Shield question

Great, thanks for the info! Well I don't have RVS gold, I have RVS and Ahtena sword discs, and Iron Wrath free download, but I guess it's the same thing. EDIT: Offtopic, is it only Johnny Cash you like, or country music in general? The reason I'm asking is I'm desperately in love with country music. :) (see my sig)

    Raven Shield question

I didn't even know RVS 2.0 existed. Downloading. EDIT: Does it work with Athena sword and Iron wrath?

Exactly this. You explained it better than I ever could. :)

    Animation Improvements in ArmA 3

Just to explain myself a little better (my english is not that great). I don't want weapon handling animations for the sake of having them in the game (aka eye-candy), I want them to reflect real world consequencies of having a certain weapon. If you want to reload SAW (I use it as an example because it's my favorite), it takes, as Archosaurusrev said, up to 20 seconds. In that time you are vulnerable, so you have to rely on your squad/team mates to protect you. So in the end, good animations can, IMHO, encourage/endorse tactical gameplay. Well you can mod it, but, with all due respect to mod teams, I think it's better to have them in the game from the beginning. EDIT: Sorry for hijacking your thread, Big Dawg. :o
  20. Yeah, I saw your name on KSP forums, it looked familiar. :) Great little game you got there...hey, wait a minute! What are you doing here playing Arma?? :butbut: You should be developing KSP! :D:p:p We want more! :bounce3: EDIT: I tried Sunday punch addon, good stuff, the fun never ends. EDIT 2: I could play this all night, every night. Too bad I have to work in the morning. :D :p

    Animation Improvements in ArmA 3

That's what I'm talking about. Ok, animation can be simple, maybe a little bit more advanced than it is now. But, duration of the animation must reflect advantages/disadvantages of carrying certain weapon, in this case a SAW.
  22. I downloaded from here: http://ksp.victorbjelkholm.se/?p=56
  23. Thanks for the link 4 in 1, this game is awesome! Yesterday my brother and I played it for hours, LOLing when rocket explodes due to poor design etc. And those faces in the lower right corner are so funny. I'm of to check out that Sunday Punch addon. Couldn't agree more. :)

    Animation Improvements in ArmA 3

Thanks PurePassion, you know it makes sense, as Del Trotter would say. :D While I'm at it, there's another thing, atrociously off-topic I'm afraid (sorry Big Dawg), but has to do with accurately representing reality in video games: NORG: Natural order of realistic gameplay It's some kind of philosophy/doctrine/concept for making realistic tactical-simulation games that's been introduced by Blackfoot Studios, guys behind development of Ground branch. It boils down to: If you can not jump with 30kg backpack on your back in real life, you can not do it in a game. If you can not reload SAW in 3 seconds in real life, you can not do it in a game. ETC. It works for everything, from infantry aspect to aircraft, anything really. I wish BIS would adopt this concept. Again, sorry for OT Big Dawg. But was it off topic? ;)

    Animation Improvements in ArmA 3

Let's say you have an AK-47. Proper reloading animation would be: 1. Remove magazine and put it in a pouch 2. Take fresh magazine from a pouch and load the rifle 3. If it's a dry reload, put the bullet in a chamber 4. If it's a tactical reload, you are ready to fire Of course, if it's #4, and you load 30 round magazine, bullet count should be 31. Now, I know this isn't going to happen, it would be enormous amount of work for BIS to do it for every weapon. It would be nice, though. But the point I was trying to make, explained by SAW example, is this: In Arma2 it takes approx. 3 seconds to reload SAW, which isn't realistic. I'd like that animation to take longer, as long as it takes in RL. That way there would be some tactical disadvantage in using SAW, you would need to be very carefull where and when you reload it. Same for any other weapon. Yeah, that's what I'm talking about, I think we're on the same page here. I think it's essential for gameplay.
