British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update

Sprocket will be hosting the DLC with no need for any steam software involved. And the good news is that Sprocket also support Paypal, so you should be good to go.

    Afghan War Diary - wikileaks

@TV-PressPass: Unfortunately I have no experience in building missions or I would be joining you in this venture. I hope you can gather around you a group of acomplished mission builders who will eventually be able to release many missions based on this material. Perhaps you can call yourselves the AWD Mission Group. These are exactly the kind of missions that are needed by the majority of OA players who don't have the time to dedicate to joining a squad or don't want to play online. Short, fairly simple and to the point, sometimes boring, sometimes downright scary missions rather than epic story lines for each mission. more an every-day experience of a soldiers war. Good luck in your endevours and I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update

I'm A bit disapointed about the lack of British support vehicles. What are we supposed to do for re-arming, re-fueling and repair? Go cap in hand to the Americans and ask to borrow some of their trucks? OK, repair can be carried out by the new engineer unit but what about the rest? Due to the type of war the Brits will be engaged in, it is feasible that they could be without the challenger2 (It would still be cool to have it in there for editor made missions though). However to be without any support vehicles is just nonsensical.

I'm still crossing my fingers for proper British army transport/support trucks.

    Any progress on this yet?

    [CAMP] Joint Operations [BAF]

Looking forward to playing your campaign. However I have encountered a problem. I didnt have any of the addons needed so downloaded them all from the links you provided. When I went to test in the editor I got the following error when entering the gunners position in the Jackal HMG: "cannot load texture ukf_ukweps\sa80_ris\data\jerusalem_env_co.paa" any ideas as to what could be wrong?

what new has been done / improved since 2001?

you missed the destructible buildings improvements. Anyone remember the folded card building ruins from OFP?
  8. Killerwatt

Do you still go back to OFP and Arma 1?

Although I only go back to Arma 1, I would love to have the ability to play both ArmA1 and OFP from the ArmA2 exe if ever BIS decided to do official DLC conversions.
  9. A server runing A2+OA is effectively running CO (combined operations) and will run any other addons the Admin of the server wants to set it up with. As for Queens Gambit, that was an addon for ArmA1 better known as Armed Assault.

I would be at the front of the line for them!

British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update

This would make a great mission. Insurgents plant an IED and set up a nearby ambush. Brit column arrives and has to secure the area and protect the bomb disposal engineer from the insurgents as they mount their ambush and engineer tries to defuse the IED.

British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update

Ive been thinking. The announcement thet the Brit engineers will have enhanced abilities I.E. vehicle repair and in particular bomb disposal abilities, would tend to suggest that some sort of IED will be implemented, dont you think?

British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update

I expect the main game will treat the BAF DLC just like any other mod and put it in the expansion folder. Then you will either activate it or disable it depending on which server you wanted to join.

    A refreshing change.

Hats off to the Zeus admins for putting something other than domination on their server tonight. I didnt last to long in the mission I participated in but it was so much fun to play a proper mission where teamwork and communication was so much to the fore. Such a refreshing change to the constant domination type games that are populating so many servers now. I hope more servers follow suit and begin a move away from the domination type game. Thanks again Zeus and I will definately be back for more.

British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update

I take your point Maruk but I think 20% is a rather large safety net for you. Lets hope that your next DLC will be priced a little more closely. Or better still price it in one currency and let the current exchange rate of the time take its effect. :)

British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update

As I already stated, I am going to buy this DLC. However I would like to draw BIS' attention to the pricing structure. As it stands the price is 10 dollars, or 9euros, or 8 pounds. Now 9 euros =11.6 dollars and 8pounds =12.2dollars. so is there a hidden cost in converting the currencies that I am not aware of? A more realisticaly equall price would be 8euros =10.3dollars or 7pounds =10.6dollars. As I said I dont mind paying for DLC but why do I have to pay 20% more just because I am British?

British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update

Exclusive transcript of the new British dialogue from the opening scene of the British DLC campaign. Somewhere in Takistan, 2012 A pilot, just off on a mission, runs past, and dashes into a Nissen hut The squadron leader enters an RAF officers' mess and takes off his helmet Bovril: Morning, squadron leader. Squadron Leader: What-ho, Squiffy. Bovril: How was it? Squadron Leader: Top hole. Bally Jerry pranged his kite right in the how's your father. Hairy blighter, dicky-birdied, feathered back on his Sammy, took a waspy, flipped over on his Betty Harper's and caught his can in the Bertie. Bovril: Er, I'm afraid I don't quite follow you, squadron leader. Squadron Leader: It's perfectly ordinary banter, Squiffy. Bally Jerry ... pranged his kite right in the how's yer father ... hairy blighter, dicky-birdied, feathered back on his Sammy, took a waspy, flipped over on his Betty Harper's and caught his can in the Bertie. Bovril: No, I'm just not understanding banter at all well today. Give us it slower. Squadron Leader: Banter's not the same if you say it slower, Squiffy. Bovril: Hold on, then. (shouts) Wingco! Wingco: Yes! Bovril: Bend an ear to the squadron leader's banter for a sec, would you? Wingco: Can do. Bovril: Jolly good. Wingco: Fire away. Squadron Leader: (draws a deep breath and looks slightly uncertain, then starts even more deliberately then before) Bally Jerry ... pranged his kite ... right in the how's your father ... hairy blighter ... dicky-birdied ... ... feathered back on his Sammy ... took a waspy ... flipped over on his Betty Harper's ... and caught his can in the Bertie. Wingco: ... No, don't understand that banter at all. Squadron Leader: Something up with my banter, chaps? A siren goes. The door bursts open and an out-of-breath young pilot rushes in in his flying gear. Pilot: Bunch of monkeys on your ceiling, sir! Grab your egg and fours and let's get the bacon delivered. General incomprehension. They look at each other Wingco: Do you understand that? Squadron Leader: No, didn't get a word of it. Wingco: Sorry old man, we don't understand your banter. Pilot: You know ... bally ten-penny ones dropping in the custard ... (searching for the words) um ... Charlie Choppers chucking a handful ... Wingco: No, no ... sorry. Bovril: Say it a bit slower, old chap. Pilot: Slower banter, sir? Wingco: Ra-ther! Pilot: Um ... sausage squad up the blue end! Squadron Leader: No, still don't get it. Pilot: Um ... cabbage crates coming over the briny? Squadron Leader: No. Wingco, Pilot and Bovril: No, no ... Stock film of an enemy bombing raid. Voice Over: But by then it was too late. The first cabbage crates hit the British Base on July 7th. That was just the beginning... Just a bit of light relief chaps. I am relly looking forward to the British DLC and I will be standing in line to buy it. I also agree that a challenger would be nice to have. Not necessarily the campaign But it would be usefull to have for any additional missions made in the editor.
  18. If you were wounded when the crosshair started moving then it is a feature. Your aim becomes unsteady when you are injured. As far as what improvements in frame rate you can expect, I wouldn't hold your breath on a single core machine. Most of the improvements have been in the area of optimising the game for multi core processors, although I think some work was also transfered from the CPU to the GPU if I remember correctly. If you are in any doubt about commiting to buy, just wait for the OA demo to come out. It is very close to release now so you shouldn't have to long to wait.

    One issue with OA...

I did a bit of experimenting in the editor in combined operations in Takistan with an AI driven humvee and just by clicking a destination on the map it was remarkably good at following the road system to the destination. It even stayed on the right side of the road and funniest of all, it stopped to avoid running over a rabbit which was hopping over the road! So all in all, the AI driving is getting there.
  20. I think it would be good to have the OA campaign playable from any of the 4 players perspectives in single player mode. That way we get to play it 4 different ways or even better swap between roles at any time so making virtually unlimited replayability.

    How to pack backpack?

What happens if your gear slots are all full and your backpack is also full? Will double clicking on an item in the backpack result in swapping it with an item in the gear, will it force you to drop the item, or will nothing at all happen?
  22. When you find yourself on your back writhing in agony and unable to move, just double tap "W" and you will be able to crawl again. Albeit very slowly.

Quick Mission Setup - editing own units..

Pick the main target by accessing the list just as you did when selecting your squad. You can make it either something like a truck or I think, an enemy infantry squad. The location of the main target can also be changed once you put the mission into the editor as can the destination and position of the outposts. You can assign troops to the outposts as well. I've only just started playing with this option myself so am still experimenting with it but I'm having a lot of fun with it and these are my findings so far. Hope that helps. I would also recommend putting ambient combat option to high for some unpredictability if your PC can hande it.

Quick Mission Setup - editing own units..

Rather than select your team in that way, scroll down the class list and you will find lots of different pre-made squads Such as infantry rifle squad or mechanised infantry squad or so on.
  25. I wish I knew for certain. But as far as I can tell it only includes the islands and not the units, Aircraft and vehicles. I have it installed and have been hoping to find the missing parts so I could play the campaign. But despite having the original ArmA, I have had no luck tracking down the missing elements. Strangely enough A RACS T72 with driver only is included but its impossible to even change seats in it. I think there is also a US Army M113 but thats about it. If anyone can tell us how to get the missing stuff installed then that would be great.
