Looks cool. The wheels could do with a bit of muck on them, looks odd with huge splashes of mud up the sides and in the arches and shiny new tyres.

Not tested them yet, but the tracers look fab bn

The Merlin's an excellent aircraft from what I've heard, it's hardly what you'd call "second rate crap."

I wish I still had my F22: Air Dominance Fighter CD now. That was the first and best flight sim I ever bought

That's it, I'm joining the Czech Army. They have women as well as helicopters!

Best recruitment advert ever was the British Army one where it starts off like a driving lesson, then the instructor goes "GET OFF THE ROAD, INTO THE TREES!!" when a truck comes around the next corner. "KILL THE LIGHTS! RIGHT! RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT!!" Not because it was a great advert, but it makes me want to scream "Kill the lights! Right! Right right right RIGHT!!" when I'm sat in a Land Rover on squad nights

M&K. I bought a joystick, didn't like it. Far too inprecise, and having to shift it out of the way of the keyboard when I wasn't flying was a ballache. With a joystick, I found it very easy to oversteer, if that's the word, and that means that as soon as I was chasing someone down with guns, I'd lose them because it was damn near impossible to creep the gunsight in front of them to lead your rounds in. With a mouse and keyboard, I can dogfight with the best of them

Bravo Land (subject to change)

Burbclaves, anyone? When I read that book, I thought the idea of little miniature nations made up exclusively of suburbs was really dystopian and far-future... I guess some parts of the world aren't too far away from it -
Oh dear. A less lethal buy more disgusting way to get shot in the back

Bah, 4kb too big. If anyone finds any bugs when the pack's out, I'll have an entire section shot Rho. Probably yours

Here's VOLCBAT's contribution to the publicity drive

Option D) Kooky yawns, scratches himself, gets another beer and thinks Titan is a country in some south-east Asian country he's never heard of.

I think we got the hint when you first said you don't think it'll be out in January mate. No need to keep harping on about it.

UKF are probably working on SAS and SBS. Iunno.
-
Step by step guide to making SBS (or SAS, for that matter): 1. Take UKF DPM Pack v1.1 2. Place a DPM rifleman with assault vest 3. Set him to wear a bush hat, or no hat at all 4. Give him an Armalite Job's a good 'un.

Also, the market for arcadey, lowest-common-denominator shooters is cramped: BF42, BF Nam, CS, CS Source, Soldner, HL2, UT2004, Joint Ops, etc. etc. etc. ad nauseum. Even competing with the more realistic tactical shooters such as Raven Shield is dicey, as they're established. OFP is a niche game. They pinned an entire corner of the market with one game and one expansion (I don't count Red Hammer). To ditch pretty much assured success with a smaller market to try (and no doubt fail) at breaking into a larger, more competetive market would be very silly. The kind of players who appreciate BF's realistic nuances are the same kind of people whose opinion boils down to crap like "CS sux UT rox," and their level of tactical sense dictates that standing still for more than two seconds or (horror of horrors) using concealment or a vantage point equals being a cheating son of a bitch. The reason I play OFP still is because nothing comes close. I play other games when I want a quick fix of carnage. I come back to OFP every time though, because it feels so much more harsh and unforgiving, therefore more satisfying. I don't like being told that I've just been hit in the chest with a burst from an MP40, but it's okay, it didn't hurt too bad, it only took 20 health off me. I don't like being able to take out a T72 with hand grenades. I don't like being able to recover from a gunshot wound that blew my fucking skull open by walking over a water canteen and a bag of bandages. I like running through a hail of gunfire, knowing that it's a very stupid thing to do, and that any one of those bullets zipping past my face will kill me stone dead if I walk into one. Because when I finally get behind something solid, I've got that giddy feeling of relief because I've just survived horrible odds. When I run across a courtyard in Call of Duty and get chased across by MG42 fire, I don't really feel too fussed as I could have run across it while being shot up and still have survived. Also, it's no fun playing with thirteen year olds who mistake skill for twitch-reflexes and bounding around the map. I'd much rather stick with my OFP squad, where I know the members are genuinely skilled and talented players, be it through practice and dedication or the fact that they're putting into practice what they did or do for a living. BIS tapped into this. They made something that almost every single one of us in the community finds appealing. To give up a small, yet loyal fanbase for a large, yet unpredictable market would be like getting Mr. Magoo to perform an emergency heart bypass on your best friend. So, I don't think they'll sell out, as it were. Especially not as there are probably a few people in the community who've handled explosives before

I've been having the same problems for a while. OFP is the only thing that runs satisfactorily anymore. Half Life 2 locks up, Dawn of War locks up or hard reboots my PC (although a bit of dusting made it more tolerable), all sorts of crap like that. Using it as an excuse to send this PC to the knacker's yard as soon as I have the cash to buy a new one.

Also, especially in Cold War scenarios, the Russians typically have numerical superiority. In fact, the technological disparity between the Sovbloc and NATO was down to the Soviet doctrine of assault en masse. NATO countered this with technologically superior equipment that would be able to engage at longer ranges and with a greater chance of a kill. For example, while both sides fielded attack helicopters during the Cold War, NATO's were geared up towards knocking out tanks whilst their Soviet counterparts such as the Hind were basically flying artillery parks, designed to saturate the enemy with rockets. But anyway, I'm rambling. I say, keep the values as realistic as possible. Making Eastern Tank D a match for Western Tank F when the real thing would get KO'd before the paint was dry on it is like making a WWII mod where the Germans have eight-shot semi-automatic Kar 98s because the real thing couldn't fire as fast and had a smaller magazine than the Garand.

Hah, my philosophy on life. You can even replace "ride" with "beer" and "walk" with "can of Coke" and it stills works!

Yes, indeed you can. Opening thread had been updated btw. Zay If I were a woman, I'd want to have your babies. But I'm not, so a manly handshake will have to suffice.

Grenades might be useful in CQB at last... no more looking on in horror as someone tosses a grenade a bit too high and sends it into the top of the doorframe. Now we can run in terror as it bounces off the doorframe and lands squarely between our feet
