    For me it's the other way around. Res will always find the ones in Res\Addons but not in plain \Addons.

    Yes, there are several very good tutorials that can be downloaded from Discreet. I've done them and I can assure you that they will teach you what you need to know about GMax. But they teach jack shit about how to get your models in-game. GMax is the best tool out there, apart from the import/export function. Which is virtually non existant. Check this thread over on OFPEC. Specifically the posts made by me.

    Well, it has to do with what kind of units they are. And the fact that you can add cargo, driver and gunnier proxies to a vehicle which defines how the soldier model should look inside the vehicle. Also note that you can't move around in vehicles, and you are actually just teleported into the vehicle when you select "Get in ... as ..."

It will include more detailed description on each LOD, which selections to use in it, and also divide the selections into categories. Choppers Airplanes Wheeled vehicles Tanks Soldiers And he will also include vertex and face limits for each LOD. Which is nice.

    1) Starship Troopers takes place in the future. At a point where USA has spread to cover both north, central, and south-america. So there 2) Nothing at all, so stop talking about SW here =) Oh, and the movie isn't at all that bad. It's not a good movie, by far, but there's really nothing wrong with it. Watch it for a laugh

    I was completely unaware that there was a working export function. Shows what I know Anyway, if you all could post here with something that you are very good at, or have a lot of info about, then I'll team you guys up and you can work out the details yourselves. But for now, the only decided thing is that FlipeR takes care of the advanced stuff like LODs, selections and memory points, since he already has some documentation on this. And SelectThis, the 'addon rules/Guidelines' will be a very essential part of the Oxygen FAQ =)

    Couldn't we look at how much damage the actual weapon does. Like: M16 does X amount of damage, so that is reflected in the config.cpp. AK-74 does Y amount of damage, so that is reflected in the config.cpp. Because even if the M16 and M249 fire the same bullets (which they do) the M249 has a higher rate of fire and a lot of other small things which makes them different.

    No, this is because those models doesn't have the configuration necessary to hold handguns. You don't have to reinstall anything. But unless the author decides to fix those models, update them for OFP:R, the problem won't be solved.

    Actually, I think it's coded into the engine even. Even if you remove the muzzle flash, chances are you will still experience the bright flashes.

    Average vertex counts

    OFP has 7 LODs/weapon. 6 so called resolution LODs (the actual model, with decreasing detail) and 1 LOD which contains animation anchors and so on. I can't really give you a specific polycount right now, but the highest res LOD (First person) can have quite a few polygons, and the lowest res should be nothing more than a plane with a alpha map texture of the gun.

(Thanks denoir ;-)) But really, we want to do this for several reasons. The two biggest ones being that we get to help you guys out, and give you a good start with O2 (which most of the ModMakers did not have since there was no FAQ for them to look at) and give ourselves a break from being asked questions all day long. The FAQ will contain all the info and knowledge that the ModMakers have collected thus far, and if you can't find what you are looking for here, chances are that you will never find it. With that I mean that if the FAQ doesn't solve your problem, please think twice before making a new thread somewhere, or PMing someone about it. If there is something that you do not understand about the FAQ, if it's written in a strange and odd way (we ModMakers tend to get a bit odd sometimes ;-)) please contact me via PM e-mail: Tomas_Landin@hotmail.com or ICQ# 95734666 I will try and sort things out for you.     Thanks, I hadn't even thought about textures, readmes or PBO's. Great that you pointed that out. I will start creating some sort of compiled rules out of this, when I am nearly done I'll show it to other ModMakers and see what they think. If they say OK, then it will be distributed in a suggestion e-mail to all the major OFP sites.

(Everything about selections and memory points.) Nine: If you have other ideas as to which info to put up here, be my guest =) Please note that I do not think that I'm better than you guys in any way. In fact, I am more than willing to admit that most of you probably know more about O2 than I do. Instead I am here to coordinate your greatness, so that the newbies can understand what you lot are talking about =)

    Great that people actually wants to get involved in this =) All this info will be available for all new addonmakers in a nice format (I'm not so sure I can tell you more) so that you don't have to dig up these posts everytime you need to check something. I will personally try and contact all the major OFP sites, and have them all join in on this. So that any addons that doesn't follow these standards won't get hosted anywhere. Except on personal sites and so on. But that is fine, we can't censour addons, but we can put forth standards which we think all addons should follow. To ensure quality for the OFP Community. But first we need to formalise it all. Minimum number of LOD resolution levels: 4 Polycounts (not O2 counts) Highest res LOD: 4500 Lowest res LOD: 300 NO BETAS All addons must be version 1.0 and fully modelled, skinned and functional. It is possible to have public beta-tests of course, but addons which are not completed will not be hosted on any of the major OFP sites (in our vision anyway) Armor rates: These are here to give you guys an idea on how strong each vehicle is. Now you'll look at how many hits a M1A1 can take and set your armor value for your tank proportionally. Did anyone get that? BMP-1 = armor=200; M1A1 = armor=900; M113 = armor=150; T72 = armor=400; Bullet damage Undecided as of yet Vehicle speed Undecided as of yet More on LODs: All LODs must be finished. Exactly which LODs you need will be explained to you guys in greater detail once you get O2. If even one LOD is missing, the addon will be counted as a BETA and will not be hosted on any major OFP site. Notes A lot of this info is still to be decided on, but when the info gets in I will edit this post to reflect that info. And like I said, in the end this will all make a neat and tidy info thingy for you guys to read. And I would like to add my vote to that "Approved" sign. Maybe add something like: "This addon was approved by the OFP Community blah-blah" Anyway, I'm off now. Catch ya guys later

    Well, *puts on his new 'I'm the head guy' cap* I suggest that everyone with technical info talks to FlipeR, and see what he has compiled in his document(s). Then all of you with knowledge about that (I'm more of an artist, see ) can put together the advanced section of the FAQ. With LOD, selections, memorypoints and all that mumbojumbo. If you have important info about LODs (Meaning not just: LOD means Level Of Detail, we like those) please contact FlipeR and compare your info, so we don't get duplicate copies of things here. I will write some sort of welcome thread for everyone, that ought to be stickied at the top of the board. (*wink* *wink* denoir) That thread will explain what the FAQ is about and so on, where to find relevant info and blah-blah-yada-yada. And I promise that as soon as I have the time (It's 90 AM here in Sweden, and my first class starts just about now) I will sit my arse down and write that post.
