  1. I couldn't agree more. Your island gave me some good hours of fun, but I think something on the likes of how Gorazde was when the Serbs storm in could be more interesting; but that would need some seriously building model editing or creating new ones. Some samples from Iraq and Afghanistan. Also, I was thinking about "Shafts" and "flares" for air units, as counter meassures (CM). In OFP I noticed that the scripts for CM on air units where based in probabilities and about making the rockets to divert from their targets; but I was thinking about actually stopping the rockets by creating untextured transparent objects that get dropped or cam created by the vehicle, so when the rocket locks on a plane for example, the pilot can fire this flares and with a bit of luck the rocket will impact against one of this objects and explode. Wouldn't that be more realistic?

    Chammys Sound Mod

    I don't know if I sayd this before, but this mod is so good that I do simple things in the editor like creating different groups with waypoints so they head towars each other with me seating in the middle of it all as a civilian, just to hear the fire fight ( And chance gettin shot by accident) Bloody amazing, I haven't watched a war film for ages, don't need to anymore, I got CSM. mr.g-c, put the volume up a bit, you'll find it on the right side of the task bar of your desktop, by the "Date/Time" section.

    Fair comment, I completely agree, I don't want to mess with MP, and is no need for it, just wanted to know about it, thanks. @ proxemo666, Resident Evil is a game, this is real Nah, serious now, I just made myself a nice mod folder that I know I will never be able to use in MP because I'll be accused of cheating, because it uses most of the enhancements available that actually work, and I think I'm just fantasising with burning corpses and dismembered body parts flying over my head after an explosion, and so on. I'm not nuts, just been playing for too many hours on the row

    I don't know if is been sugested, but, how about burning corpses and injured vehicle ocupants? I don't know if that would be to hardcore, but it was moded for OFP, and it would be interesting to have that back in ArmA. The problem would be in MP where your vehicle gets damaged and you are injured, and instead of crawling away from the wrecage you die from the burns or because the guy who is using the mod can see you a mile away because of the flames and smoke, and that wouldn't be fare on people who don't use the mod. But for SP would be cool, or if the server and clients all have the mod.

    Revive gamestyle

    Hi there. I got a few ideas in mind about missions, and this “revive†thing sound interesting. I was playing in a dedicated server back a few weeks ago that was using this “Revive†respawn thing, and I have to agree about the team playing and cooperating with each other, it was a very pleasant mission, so why the heck not supporting this with me building some missions, uh?

    "v0.153 Sound Only" say in the "Don't readme" of the one I downloaded from Armaholic's download section. BTW, did BIS forgot to add GP25 HE to the amo boxes? I'm spitchless with this pack, it really makes me enjoy this game even more.

    Thanks Dwarden, it looks like I won't have to bother loocking for a new sound card after all Excelent news. In the mean time I'll try Churowero's sugestion and see what's up. @ Churowero. Do you meen by puting that in the shortcut that launch ArmA so it looks like that? Thanks

    Sound loss with 1.05

    Hi again. Just in case this brings some light for any body... I disabled EAX and HA(Hardware Acceleration) in the ingame sound options and this stops all my sound problems. I did try this before but it didn't made any diference, the change I made is that after I disable EAX and HA I saved the changes and closed ArmA and then rebooted my PC for extra meassure. For some reason this way works fine, but just by trying to change the settings while ArmA is runing won't do anything for me; so after the changes are made make sure you live them like it and then restar the game. You'll loose all the cool sound features, but at list you'll be able to know if there is anybody firing at you. I'm considering to update my sound card because Creative is not suporting my card anymore, so any recomendations are wellcome pease. Thanks.

    Sound loss with 1.05

    I was hoping that I would find some fix that I could implement on this, but I haven't read anything that will bring any light to the subject. Very annoying bug if you ask me, and it seems to be in multiplayer only. I also noticed something in single player; if I get inbolved in a big fire fight and I'm a MG or a vehicle's guner I end up without my weapon's sound, but only a few seconds after I star firing even if is in short bursts. My specs: OS: Windows XP SP2 Memory: 2Gb RAM CPU: Intel Pentium 4 dual core 3Ghz Video: Radeon X1600 Pro with 512Mb memory Sound: Creative SB Live! I hope there is a pach released soon becauseis ruining my MP gaming. I have to say that everything else runs very smooth in my system, and I love the game, and this sound issue is the only problem that I have. Good job BIS, keep up the good work.

    Mods/Addon Ideas

    Ah, the Russian-Afghan war from 79-89 would do a nice mod  specially with all this new features we have in ArmA. But a seriously faster addon would be some decent SAM systems for all sides. I meen faster than a mod like the Afghan war,  it dosn't meen that making a bunch of SAM systems is fast to do, no no no. Oh, more civies and civilian vehicles, I think that's a must. EDIT: I just remember. I like Laser's Deltas, and when he released the first demo of them, Sgt. Stryker retextured it and made the Nomex Deltas, and I was thinking that the look of them deltas in olive Nomex flight suit, with all the kit, they look great, so, it would be nice to have something like that in ArmA too.

    Anit tank weapons

    Well, OFP and ArmA are team work games, and the idea of having ammo bearers look more interesting. It would be like having a 3 man team for an MG, the one firing, the one feeding and the one watching their backs and holding the rest of the amunition. One good example are MBT, in the end of the day MBTs are not runing by just one player doing the comanding, the driving and the weapons, neither should be things like cooperative weapons, or multimaned weapons (same thing) I think about ocasions where I seen AT units in RL being suported by an ammo bearer, no way one guy would be able to do all that on his own. Playability would be fine with lots of rockets in your back, but realisticly it wouldn't be fine, and I'm up for team work.

    Just put the contents of the folder inside your OFP folder, the one in the codemasters folder from your programs folder in your C drive. You should have a folder call dxdll, a readme file, and a file call d3d8.dll, just put them in your OFP folder and enjoy.

    Grass

    Yes, it looks allright and performs very good. Its clever, and can get very hard to spot the enemy. If Novalogic can do that with their engine without creating any lag on my PC I don't see why BIS couldn't. I consider BIS engine way more powerful and complicated, so we will see some nice grass.

    That was exactly my point. No need to make it a must for everybody, and it will improve the general driving, because driving from A to B in a jeep or a MBT is just plain boring, and a new way to drive would bring a lot more funn to those por assigned driver in those really seriously reality perfectionist clans and squads. Plus the fact that OFP have allready a massive library of user created car addons, and some of them really nice, so why don't just add an auto/manual chice? plus it would make the racing fans happy too, opening a lot of possibilities on mission making and specially MP gaming experiences ( Again, Ronin any one?) Armored vehicles should be improved in ArmA, that's a fact, but I have the impression that this sort of things are allready over and done in ArmA, and that by now all this type of feature ading decission have long time been made. About a "Need For Speed" sort of cut in OFP? as long you do that to cars I'm cool with that, well it would be a nice thing to have if you could get some sort of driving that is going to let you take that turn at fast speed if your gear-brake-speed-steering combination is done right, that would be uterly cool. Just imagine that the AI could speed away trying to shake you out or chase you, so you can ad the car chase to singleplayer and multyplayer

    It would be good as like GrabberUK puts it, and when you select the back pack as your "on hand weapon" an action menu mixed up with something similar to the inventory section in OFP, would appear to let you select what to do. So you have your M4 in hand, open the action menu, select back pack, another menu with middle opacity opens( You'll steel be able to see what's going on), there you can see what you have in your back pack, and what options you can choosse, so you want to grab your med kit ( to sort out that wound on your left arm that stops you from aiming properly and that after being treated will improve your aiming an extra 40%, for example), or place your back pack on the ground, or add a few items, whatever, that would be good.
