Thanks Nephilim, I worked out the problem, it was actually the Geometry LOD selection itself was corrupted. I deleted the whole Geo LOD selection, made a new LOD, defined it as a Geo LOD, copy and pasted a working Geo Lod model into the selection and now it works fine. Thanks for your help on this!! And sorry I thought you were a guy, easy mistake to make in these forums.

O2 newbie here. I've just used ODLOD explorer to extract and edit the Angelina P3D from the O.PBO and as you can see I'm having the same ghosting (being able to walk through stuff... basically they're non-solid T1000s) models as other people are. However searching the topics, none of the solutions (such as adding mass to components to the GEO lod don't seem to work) Does anybody have any idea what I'm doing wrong? Your help is always appreciated. 02 page below.

Hi nephilim What do you mean by the lods not swapping in the 1. lod model? Should the geolod also have the 1.000 lod models included? Your further explanation would be much appreciated If anyone else has any idea, please let me know. Kind Regards, Jeremy

I am doing this, and my girlfriend and I are slowly getting there. Â I'm also incorporating some Aussie accents and british accents for the guys for all radio messages issued by OFP soldiers. I'm still working on the female voice demonstrator player model, but your models blow mine completely away. I like the initial nude models, it's the best way to get proportion and body dynamics first and foremost, which is the whole sticking point of your project, in fact it's how most 3d animators/modellers for big budget animated 3D movies do it. Animatrix, Final Fantasy X for instance - http://www.stevengiesler.com/ (Some pics NSFW, but get over it babies)

I'm halfway done doing this with my girlfriend. I already have a whole voicepack with my voice, so I'll let you guys know once I've finished it.

You need to place the object from the Civilians category rather than the empty category. Unfortunately if you destroy this object the civilian "man" will be deducted from your pointscore. Is there anyway to retain the static object qualities (I know the vehicle class allows you two nice beams of light ie. headlights...) Interestingly the beams don't illuminate the ground, but they do illuminate any object within the path... so it's a very odd effect. Anyway nice object.

Very nice addon, I love the moon in this!!! Why is it everytime I extract the DATA3D.PBO the strela_proxy.p3d seems to always be corrupted??? This is frustrating as I can't play multiplayer with such mods as the Strela in the game always CTDs me out of the game. Gah! Anyone else have this problem?
-
Via EdgeGaming You can get it here: http://www.ofpbase.com/pafiled....&id=366 I just tried this out.... this is awesome. Â Doesn't lag your machine like many other scripted mass destruction elements. Â And the forces of nature add a new force to be reckoned with in OFP gaming. Â Nice work AlexeyZ!!! Â
-
Yet without defining anything to find, it finds the nearest object?(Trees, tanks, units, whatever) I thought this was impossible because you need to define something, and removed in earlier versions of ofp because of a bug?! Yeah i think that's how it leaves it's "trail of destruction" without having to add script definitions to every single object that can be affected by the tornado. Â Do it around the patches of forest (not the memory efficient forest blocks, but the individual tree patches ie. Â Trees that can be run over by tanks) and the tornado pretty much simulates the "finger of god" effect of cutting a neat swathe into the tree line with some objects completely destroyed and some untouched. Â Great scripting work. Â

Hello I am experiencing some problems with the DATA3D.PBO I want to insert Inquisitor's NVgoggles addon into the Data3D.PBO, (this among other things, but this is just an example) but whenever I decrypt the PBO it corrupts the 9K32_Strela_proxy.p3d file. And when I rebuild the file if a unit uses the Strela weapon, it CTDs the game. Is there any way to safely extract this particular file out of the PBO without corrupting it? Or even better, does anyone have the working p3d on hand? Thanks for your help!! Also another thing I have recently exported the angelina.p3d out of the game using ODLOD exporter (thanks to WRPTool team for this excellent tool!!!) I have removed the silly hat, changed the proxies to include handguns and night vision. And also created numerous various on this model eg. Boonie hat models etc. - All of this I plan to retexture and release a not only a fully functional female pack (no pointless vixen addons here) with female radio voices which adds new female identities for use. (which will bridge the gap for female players) (which should be ready August-October). Trouble is, I've set the mass in the geolod but they're STILL able to walk right through one another ie, but still can get obstructed by other objects in the game (although they can simply run slowly through it given enough time). What do I have to do to this model to make the thing COMPLETELY solid? Thanks again for your help guys. Kind Regards, Jeremy

Problems with decrypting data3d.pbo + odolexplorer
JGreyNemo replied to JGreyNemo's topic in OFP : O2 MODELLING
Thanks for the tip. - Hmmm this still doesn't work. They still can walk right through each other in game. Is anything else I should try? So I select all the points in the Geolod and "merge near" correct? The "merge near" default settings are 0.0001 or something like that. I don't have to "Detect" the settings or do I? Even if I do it still gives me a non-solid player. Hmmm anyway thanks for your help Vector. -
I'm in the process of of doing a female voice pack with fully proxied female soldiers. I currently use Cool Edit Pro to edit my sound files.

Actually it looks like a kickass unit. Is the noobie civilian available anywhere for download?

Ho hum just another boring pointing guns at something or other pic.... Â Subtle? Â

Who won? Anyway....I bet Jeff woke up when he heard about that!! Â Lol. It was settled out of court after some mediation. It was a "moderate" sum. Mind you the Wiggles could barely afford the costs at the time as they were still under contract by ABC National Television and hadn't hit the big time with the national and international celebrity status they have now. Also it was important that the Wiggles kept Dorothy because she was their only "star character" at the time, no captain feathersword or Ocky the Octopus. Just Dorothy. Nowadays I think "The Wiggles Touring Pty Ltd" makes enough money to service all their trademarks and most of the toy sales covers any need for any further legal action. The thing that still gets me is. What kind of a grandmother writes their grandkids poems and copyrights them? Smart ones I guess LOL

I suppose the fact that this is a stated public internet chat forum negates any copyright on the opinions and statements made by members outside of the BIS forums. As for the DMCA for the EU, wow that's barely off the press March 2004!! Which means I don't know that much about the DMCA for EU. Nor do I know about the harsher boundaries - it's supposed to be like the US's DMCA on "steroids" as the article puts it - of IP laws contained within. I don't think any of us do unless you actually subscribe to EU law journals. Anyone up for some heavy reading?

Maybe in Australia, but here in Finland there is no such thing as a copyright office. Anything I create is automatically copyrighted to me, and I do not need to maintain it, it automatically lasts for 70 years after my death. The very point of the Berne convention is, that you do _not_ need to do so. Though while it can be difficult to sue anyone from another country for copyright infringement, its still a very "powerful" way of getting your point across to internet service providers for example who are hosting files you own copyright(in your country) for. Especially large backbone operators have specific abuse email addresses to where you can report such activity, and they do care. That's incorrect, quoting the actual convention: (emphasis mine) You bring up good points Kegety But I must stress that copyright does still need to be enforced by a registered copyright agent. Â Which is expensive. Â Maintaining copyright unfortunately isn't an free individual right as much as we'd like it do be. Â And in Finland yes your copyright may not need to be registered. Â But if somebody does infringe on your copyright and they come from another country this does pose a problem that only the power of copyright agents can apply. Also with the Berne Convention you need to make sure the country is a member of the WIPO, as if it is not the Berne Convention does not come into effect unless perhaps you do use the ISP method etc. Â And you must note that unless the country is a full signatory to this convention that many of the newer amendments and interpretations (ie the "whatever may be the mode or form of its expression") then these rights do not apply. Â Protocols and Conventions are nice, but remember that they are only GUIDELINES for national laws regarding copyright. Â So even despite the fact that a country may be a signatory, they may not actually have the laws to cover Digital Media specifically etc. Â All legal references to any international convention is considered a "lawmaking" issue or an "interpretation" issue of the existing federal law. So you can't just go to any old court and start quoting International Conventions, as the local or district court judge will simply laugh at you and throw your dismiss your case before it has even begun. The Convention must be INTEGRATED into a nation's legal system in order to be active. Â Which is why the Digital Millenium Copyright Act in the USA was devised. - Very recently I might add. Many European Countries are still catching up with these amendments. Â So do not think you are covered just because of an international Convention. Â Just like the UN Human Rights Conventions are abused every day by countries around the world, the Berne Convention is abused as well. Â And a whole lot more too. Â As the WIPO has fewer members than the UN. In essense, the $$money$$ is the main difficulty. Â And as such unless you are a professional OFP addon maker like the lads at BIS, it will be very difficult to track down and LEGALLY challenge anyone who has made infringements upon your addons nationally and abroad. The best method is for the OFP community to self regulate. Â As copyright does seem like a water tight solution but keep in mind that I lived VERY happily off a Trade Marks Administrations Salary for a number of years. Â And top notch attorneys to fight for your infringement cases overseas do certainly come at a price. Eg. Â If any of you have heard of the "Wiggles" Â a childrens group. Â A grandmother had earlier copyrighted a poem about "Dorothy the Dinosaur" that she wrote for her grandchild. Â The Wiggles had a popular character in their group called "Dorothy the Dinosaur". Â The grandmother sued for damages and my firm covered the case for the "Wiggles" The photocopying charge ALONE for this case over a 16 line poem? $5000+ AU Dollars. Got Cash? Â

Hmmm obviously you're all new to this copyright game.   I work for a legal publisher in Australia - LexisNexis.  And before that I used to work for Baldwin Shelston and Waters, which is a Intellectual Property Firm for Australia and NZ.  So here's the lowdown Firstly.  Maintaining copyright over anything be it digital or traditional media is EXPENSIVE, why?  Because in order to maintain a copyright over anything you need to make sure that somebody is looking over the vast number of things that could infringe on your copyright, and take action upon such infringements using written warnings for the offending party to cease and desist all actions relating to the infringement.  and failing that, legal action.  These are your copyright agents.  You will find them usually working for intellectual property firms along with Patent attorneys and Trade Mark Lawyers.  For the looking out for infringments upon your copyright You can always do this part yourself.  If you find an infringment you will then need to notify an Intellectual Property Lawyer to asses whether or not you can claim copyright infringment, ie.  This is a very tricky thing to assess as there are many ways to claim that there is no infringement, ie Parody, date of release etc.  Then you will then need to go through the laborious not to mention expensive process of official warnings giving the offending party a fair enough time to cease such infringements and if they don't a court order for civil damages etc can then be launched. Also, copyright is limited.  In that it needs to be maintained, and registered at a copyright office, all of which comes at a fee, not to mention needing a notary to help you fill out the advanced forms if your copyright is seen to infringe on another copyright previously registered.  Then your copyright is posted in a gazette under which other intellectual property firms can scrutinise the application to see if it impinges on any of their clientelle's copyright. This and you will also need to renew your copyright every so often (I can't remember the time period).  And it doesn't last forever like a Trademark application does.  There is a specific number of years a copyrighted item is protected, after that period of time it is free for the general public to use/misuse. Here's the killer for OFP addon copyright. If you want your copyright protected internationally you will need to lodge your application in EVERY country you want it to be protected in.  This is why big business like music, software and large printmedia industries are the only people who can usually afford copyright.  BERNE Convention only covers print and some other types of media but NO REAL PROTECTION for DIGITAL MEDIA.  The sheer scope and science of digital media (ie.  The physical sense that it is data stored in 1's and 0's).  Means that the interpretation of Berne Convention would be a waste of time on OFP addons because it is not a traditional form of media that the Berne Convention was orginally setout to cover.  Which is why the Western world has been so flummoxed to create new laws, some good some stupid in order to combat Digital Copyright Theft and Crime.  Eg.  Australia's Spam Act only was created THIS YEAR.  There is currently NO international protocol under which a national copyright protocol can affect another nation's copyright.  Unlike trademarks which have the Madrid Protocol to protect trademarks around the world no matter where it is lodged, copyright must be lodged in each and every country where it is deemed to be useful to have protection. And even places like China don't listen to even THAT protocol, which is precisely why the west is so reticent to have businesses set up there because the Chinese are so efficient at copying something and producing it at a larger/faster and more efficient scale that copyright/trademark/patent applications simply don't get registered there because it's such a waste of time.  China is an intellectual property sinkhole.  I used to spend a lot of time tracking illegal counterfiet goods coming OUT of China, because it's only when that stuff lands in another country that people can do anything about it.  The Chinese Goverment are doing some to help this problem, but not enough. So there you have it, the pockmarked process of copyright and intellectual property registration. I hope you guys have the cash. In the mean time I suggest you check out this  (this is the American version, but it's fairly similar and the most up to date with coverage of digital media types and issues arising.) http://www.copyright.gov/legislation/hr2281.pdf http://www.copyright.gov/onlinesp/ Oh and EULA is part of the copyright process, as in it's not the whole copyright thing.  EULA is simply a document to make the End User (That's the person who's using the copyright material) aware of any copyright and proper use that is applied to that Digital media.  EULA must be protected by a national intellectual property agent within the country of the end user.  Otherwise you've just got a fancy sounding TXT file.  eg.  EULA in CHINA = EULASLESS Mind you, no disrepecting China, but as I said they're in intellectual property anarchy world. IMPORTANT - ON TOPIC TO THIS TOOL AND WHAT WE COULD DO WITH IT In the meantime can I get someone to go into the BIS angelina P3D, remove her stupid hat, (which I can do now thanks to this brilliant tool)  add NVgoggle/handgun proxy/RPG proxy/flag proxy and any other proxy I've forgotten about.  And release the P3D to the adoring BIS public.  How does one add a proxy in the first place?  I just want a decent female soldier model out there.  Probably go in and fix the Resistance females as well... fix the dodgy rifle proxy which goes through the arm with the default BIS rifle animation, as well as the fact that the NV goggles don't show up as well as the fact that the RPG proxy is missing too. Why did BIS do such a rush job with the female characters in OFP?  WE HAVE THE POWER NOW GO TO AND FIX THIS SILENT TRAVESTY TO OFP GAMING!!! Otherwise I'll just have to learn how to do proxies and do it myself.  (*sigh*)

How isn't it working? It looks sweet though Â

So according to Maa the OFP community is now dead. Ok everyone time to format that Hard drive and throw your OFP discs in the bin because the OFP community is now dead because of the dastardly WRP team releasing that tool. Â RIP Operation Flashpoint 2001-2004 - "Taken away from us so suddenly in the night... you who we were so fond, we only knew you shortly, but now you are gone." Mods, you might as well delete the forums now. Â There's really no point in going on.

The trouble with the Demo models was that they're pre-resistance. Â Now with this tool we can at least see what's going on on the resistance side of things. I'm beginning to see a trend of people telling OFP toolmakers to downgrade their programs by OFP addonmaker elites. Â It happened to Amalfi with PBO decryptor 1.3 and now it's happening to the WRP team, while everyone in the community knows certain addon makers have had acess to ODLOD decryptors for a while. I say the WRP team is allowed to release this tool as it sees fit. Only paranoid addon makers see this as some vicious tool to destroy their work. What is wrong with improved addons in the first place? Credit will always fall in the right place in the end, as the community is self moderating, people can easily distinguish the difference between a completely new model and one that's been ripped from someone else's hard work. Don't treat the end-users of addons like idiots. People are savvy with determining where credit is due. So you have absolutely NO RIGHT to lean on the WRP team to change anything. This attitude within the thread isn't very constructive. Â The more open source OFP is the better. Â If BIS had the same attitude as some addon makers in this forum, there would be no such thing as addons in the first place now would there? Â

This is a very good tool. People need to remember that once you release something into the general public, you the creator, for the most part, have not much say about what happens. I've studied art for about 5 years now, and it's much the same. Some people will buy your art to put in corporate galleries, when the artist themselves is against big business and corporations. That's just life. Life isn't fair, and never will be. If you don't like people messing with your models, don't release them. This is a community and contributing to it means that you give a piece of yourself out there, for everyone, good or bad to use and share. Deal with the fact that once something is in circulation, you have little or no control to what happens to it. Hackers will always be there, and software/addons were always a particularly vulnerable medium for this sort of thing. It's the harsh reality and hiding behind the doors of flimsy encryption and "license bashing" much like the RIAA does, will only create further alienation and destruction to a very good community as a whole. The ODLOD cat is out of the bag. Deal with it. You can't do anything anymore other than not release your addons and horde them to yourself away from the EVIL ofp community... So let's move on from this and all evolve to a higher level of gaming shall we? OFP is a great game and this is the wakeup call to all addon makers, both experienced and non-experienced to get out there and contribute

Would like to point out here (since I'm on a bit of a performance crusade) that doing this will actually make your game load slower, as the engine has to un-pack this highly compressed data, and will hence take longer about it. Whilst it may look good to have smaller addons on disc size, it does not look good having smaller (highly compressed) addons for initial load times etc. Whilst this may not be noticable for one or two addons, if you treat every addon in this way, (which was "common" practise back when we had the memory map errors) it will inevitably lead to much longer load times, and much much more cpu load on the initial boot-up. And as a side note: Encryption is NOT about making the file smaller, you're getting your terminoligy confused with compression Hmmm I'm two minds about this. I don't particularly use compression for addons per se, but when I'm fiddling around with the BIS PBOs it's interesting to see what they themselves compressed and what they didn't. Ie. DATA.PBO is not compressed, it contains a huge repository of texture files mainly *.PAA files, whereas the DATA3D.PBO which only contains *.P3D files is considerably smaller and is then compressed even smaller still. My computer runs a fraction faster when the DATA3D.PBO is compressed, than when it is uncompressed. So perhaps certain things are more efficient compressed within the PBO and certain things are not. My theory, feel free to dispute... P3D only has to be extracted once from the PBO at the start of the mission... whereas texture files would be accessed on a very fast basis, when the object is in Line of Sight of the player. Because P3Ds would not need textures when out of view. This explains why when you are low on memory some large detailed objects go white. (This also happens when somebody stuffs up an LOD too though) You'd still need P3Ds to work out hits and misses in skirmishes that occur outside the player's current view. To leave the P3Ds uncompressed would need a larger memory map within the game, thus making it slower. Anyway I don't think the compression = less/more performance is a black & white issue. Feel free to dispute.

INQ's new A-10.... *swoons*
