    Total conversion mods...

Some mods are bombing ahead, like the Malvinas campaign looks as thought it's got the base of the mod sorted. I think some will be completed in time but others are just going to die. I want a good Falklands one to come out - there is 2 -question is which one will come out first? Operation Vietnam looks deaded but apparently they are doing stuff but not showing it. I don't think that a OFP rival will come soon. Most of what is in the OFP2 wish list could be done on OFP1. Look at the demo of OFP and compare it to resistance and you realize that BIS gonna keep on OFP1 for a while.

Army under fire for "sniper" video game...

"training new snipers" There's difference in just calculating lead and range in OFP to doing it in real life. Smoothly leading with a real rifle over ranges of 400 metres is a bitch and not many people can do it. I've fired at moving targets (paper thingys, i'm not tough enough to be a grunt! lol) on the range and it's quite a bit different from just moving the mouse. If anything OFP should teach you not to join the military because you die! I think that was the intended pupose of the game by BIS I haven't played AA but i'm sure it's not about getting a rifle and going on killing sprees! But then again i don't think guns should be widely available to the public in America. I'm still proud at the fact that our police don't have to walk the streets with firearms.

    Military Humor

You gotta like the Norwegians - first they invent the paperclip which is invaluable, then they try to harpoon the Orca Whale that the Yanks had spent 6 million trying to get back into the wild! And also i heard this story from a foreign exchange student a few years ago. In the height of the cold war, when everyone but the British (cause we're just too cool to be paranoid ) was just itching to push the button and obliterate everyoon else. The Norwegians who don't bother with this war stuff, it's getting dated you know, decided to lauch a space program. .........Russian aviation defense guys suddenly see this unidentified object blasting into their airspace. Silo doors open and and everyone gets coded messages saying get ready to push "the" buttons. Meanwhile the Americans look at their screens and see Russia ready to start WW3........Silos and buttons for the yanks. Then a highly skilled communications officers decide to advise their leaders to get on the phone and just ask to make sure. Oh sorry that was us! Says the Norwegians as they look around at the world on the brink of destruction. So one of the closest encounters with nuclear war was caused by the Norwegians

    Mid east

I think that if you take a bunch of people and stick them in their "homeland" which also happens to be the same as a few other people's, and then decide to pump billions of dollars into their economy and give them a formidable military - you are going to disturb the balance of power in that region and therefore cause resentment. If we (UK and USA primarily) didn't try to engineer the Middle East in the first place then maybe everyone would be living there in a society that accepted lot's of different cultures and religions. Whoever called Arafat a terrorist - Terrorism is quite a specific term - rogue factions employing warfare of any type against non-combatants to serve their poilitical causes. This does not include Mr Arafat trying to stop the Israelis killing him by talking to them. The Americans have now started a craze of calling anyone they dislike a terrorist. This is going to have repercussions. GWB's last desperate attempt at trying to get the western world support his personal avengance of his father's incompetence is pathetic - Saddam Hussein is linked to terrorist groups. For those of you who listen to Chris Moyles on Radio one, you can probably relate to how this linkage is a bit like comedy Dave's tedious link! UN weapon inspectors - there is no WMD in Iraq GWB - there is and i have evidence, look at these reciepts i just got! I don't think attacking Iraq would be wise, as it would probably trigger hostile action from the secretive allies Saddam has very probably made, why else would he be so provocative unless he has a backup plan. But as America is led by a spoilt 3 year old who doesn't take no for an answer, we are probablly going to see the coalition of one (maybe two) going in and getting sucked into a pile of shit as high as GWB's ego.

    Proper release of the littlebirds

I use a cyborg 3D to fly and i have to counter the turns with the rudder pedals to make it fly roughly like something resembling a helicopter. The BAS LBs addon is the best because of the effort that went into it, think like Karl Marx! Seriously though, the soar pilot makes these addons the best because i like the look of the helmets and the burst setting on the mP5, i don't know why they don't have it on the BIS one. I found 1 problem though, the LB yaws too rapidly while at high speed, in real helicopters the faster you go the more sluggish the yaw control is. As the MH-6 has the mp5, maybe you could create an OH-6 like in vietnam where the copilot has an m60 on his lap and a few smokeshells and they fly low enough to see footprints in wet mud!
  8. I did not want to offend anyone, just express an opinion that i have refined so as not to appear anti - amercan, just anti - american foreign policy I don't insult American troops, I insult the American goverment, the american troops are told what to do by the goverment just as we are. In fact American troops probably are more courageous and go to war more often because their goverment has changed it's foreign policy to "turn the world into one large america that we control and there will be no problems" I'm not being funny, i'm being serious but trying to make it look funny so people read it but don't get too steamed up about it. I went to New York in the summer to see my relatives (father side) and talked to them about 11/9 and asked if they thought they doing the right thing by going in to Afghanistan, they all said no. Americans are a nice people fundamentally but america is the world's most hated country in the world because they are the largest economically developed country. Americans have to accept that. When we (the UK) were the most powerful and hated we didn't accept it until the end of our reign and it came to us - everyone hates us Terrorism has been around for a long long time. The first recorded event was in the time of the Mongol and Chinese empires. We had soldiers in Northern Ireland being shot at by the IRA supplied with AR-18s which they got with the money of Irish sympathizers in the USA. In 1972 Europe experienced terrorism first hand - money to the intelligence services was increased and special forces formed into and specialised into CT roles - GSG9, GIGN, SAS, Dutch Marines etc. The american goverment thought "stupid europeans, that won't happen to us" GWB - "an entirely new and original threat has presented itself, let's kill it with bombs" I'm afraid that i don't support this whole war on terrorism at all. Mainly because it's led by some cowboy who thinks he in the wild west and that revenge is best. You fight this with intel and we have been for the past 30 years. America is now fighting the very people it put into a position of power. GWB could prove that these "rogue states" have WMD by simply looking at the receipts. If america reverted it's foreign policy to that of before WW1 that is written down somewhere in the constitution it would become the teacher instead of the bully. (crap metaphor sorry) I hope this adresses most of your problems with me.

Well i haven't read the one that got away and there isn't a helicopter crash in Bravo two zero so i guess it must be in the one that got away, that's by Chris Ryan isn't it?. The SAS is very cool and definitely should be included in OFP. I'm not going to obviously say they're the best but in comparison to the US special guys - SAS total population - around 350 US guys total population - 46000 (i guess the 45650 extra are cannon fodder! SAS successful ops - too many to name (e.g. iranian embassy in 1980) US guys succ..... i don't think there are any! lol PS. if you want to piss off an american airman, ask him how you can fit a herc in to a Jolly green! To keep this post on topic: We need Jolly greens to rescue pilots that eject over the sea in their little dingies and of course to drop supplies like ammo, jeeps and of course men.

We had the same kill rate of "confirmed taliban and terrorist fighters" as the americans, didn't bomb weddings or canadians, didn't use carpet bombing, and didn't lose any soldiers, equipment or vehicles. The point of this is that if you have NATO have the British because we're everywhere (our foreign policy still thinks we own a third of the world lol) and if you have Americans have collateral damage and friendly fire. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Oblivion Lost

It's a matter of opinion - i read lord of the rings 8 years ago and found it utterly boring (i gave up at in the middle of the second book after having to take notes! , but as soon as the film comes out everyone's reading it! But this game looks good, i didn't say i did not like games that are not realistic (i've got half life, rtcw and sof2! I just like urban warfare games and went off on a bit of a tangent Btw Are most of you in the military or something? how do you know so much about guns? All i know is how to pull the trigger and clean my pistol, and unjam the SA80 lol My god have we got a shit rifle! P.s. Anyone who hasn't completed rogue spear on elite hasn't known hard

    S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Oblivion Lost

It looks okay and the plot isn't the worst in the world but i would still like a really realistic first person urban warfare game where you could have weapons from all around the world and uniforms too. And you just have large skirmishes over the net taking over cities. Instead of a 15 minute job have a 3 day thing where the city is under siege and people join the game and rally up troops and charge, get slaughtered by snipers and MGs and charge again! lol You would have to have vehicles like trucks, APCs and maybe tanks but all would be able to be destroyed by RPGs etc You might as well use real scenarios like the 6 day war in the Golan heights, lot's of galils and urban warfare :-) A mission like rogue spear mission 4 in Djakovica, Kosovo would be really cool, siege the city and take control of the church, but the city would be huge and have lot's of places where a camper could lie down in a puddle with a dragunov, aiming at a deserted street, and then a shadow would move here and there as an enemy infiltration team slowly moves up the street. Bang. the camper is sniped full on in the face by an enemy sniper who noticed the dull glint of wet gun metal. hehehe this could be how detailed OFP 3 is in the urban sector in a few years time, or someone could just create a new game that does this.

Indirect fire is a good idea but there would be problems, in the ofp engine now if you are shelled you are pretty much 99% guranteed to die even if you are in a bunker. Part of speech given to the 8th King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry by commanding officier before the Battle of the Somme 1st July, 1916: " When you go over the top, you can slope arms, light up your pipes and cigarettes, and march all the way to Pozieres before meeting any live Germans." Before the Somme we shelled the German forces for days but it did bugger all because they were prepared. In OFP2 i would like to see adequate cover from artillery but to balance things..... napalm! Can't hide from the flames! Agent orange would be funny as well, turn green, lush everon into barren wasteland in twenty minutes with your trusty herc! Someone quoted me about shouting and said that muzzle flash always gives away your position, not true. A 12.7 mm MG on a T80 will always create a small spout of orange flame, A 5.56 will only create muzzle flash in low light conditions like sunset and sunrise A 120mm cannon will create a big flame thing and lot's of smoke :-) In an ambush in daylight with well camouflaged infantry who don't yell at each other "yeehaaa i got one", the enemy will usually die without really knowing the exact source of fire.

Kojak_2002 "The enemies that attack you in OFP are too quiet. Just think, if they were shouting constantly" Good idea if you're going up against enemies who aren't trained, but Russians? I'm afraid (no westerner likes to accept it) that the Russian infantryman was one of the best trained enlisted conscript soldiers in the world and they wouldn't be yelling to each other in a firefight, because that would give away their position. But if the resistance shouted it would add a real element of not being able to communicate effectively without telling every other man and his dog where you are! I'm glad you agree with some of my points :-) Jinef

I should have explained blue on blue a bit more: Have a system where you have assault times, and supporting fire etc like in a real attack. Then if you lead your squad ahead of the pre arranged assault time expect to get shot at by other squad's mortars and MGs thinking you are the enemy and not really IDing you properly, of course then you'll have a radio option of cease fire to other squads and basically make the communication between squads more fluid and dynamic but put real life elements of error and miscommunication in randomly to simulate what it's like when everything gos tits up! You can also have more interaction with support units like artillery and air bases where you call gunships/recon helos/evacs etc also i thought about this just now after getting shot down in my A10 deep in enemy territory and running 6kms back to base to comlete the mission - not very fun or realistic. have a radio command which you can use that can call for any available SAR units to pick you up. also have AI pilots do this if they get shot down and survive (big miracle at moment) and squad leaders who have chickened out of an assault and ran to the emergency LZ with a few men waiting for the helicopter to come in and take them to safety. i forgot to put this under flight model in my previous post Rotor Downwash from helicopters should kick up dust automatically like the tank cannon does but make it an option if you can so that low end users don't suffer!

  25. OFP was revolutionary, before OFP how many decent FPS/AS war sims were there - Delta Force 2 was the best you could get and that was you with a few other mentally challenged comrades called Alpha and Bravo who ran against an army of guys who couldn't shoot a house from two metres away! And then you have this huge expanding arena of vehicles and infantry all interacting (with a few glitches but it's better than a real American unit! to create an immersive computer game. Fabtastic! I'm not going to say release a patch for clipping because to my computer knowledge (quite limited) that is very hard to do and you might as well design a new game engine! What want is a realism pack that you buy like resistance that only people who want it get. It would include features that would appeal to the hardcore gamerd Realistic explosions - An infantry carrier getting hit by a LAW looks like a puff of smoke where the LAW penetrates and then it stops working because either the crew is dead or wounded or the tracks or turret are destroyed/dammaged. A secondary explosion is caused by it hitting ammo in the turret or the fuel tank and is usually quite rare because you don't usually waste ammo on it if the guys have jumped out or it's on fire. Realistic ammo loadouts - Hellfish 6 has given a brilliant description so i don't have to :-) Flight model - you hear everyone say this and i'm gonna add to the general flow, keep the easy option because it's great for the plebs to think they're flying really well and they don't need the gunner and that every air force in the world will want them! (exaggeration - don't take that seriously :-) ) But being a helicopter pilot in the RAF i think that even though it's a computer game give us some credit by giving us a real flight model as well! And give the gunner a bit more freedom (an engage at will command) where he will sensibly use your ordnance to enagage threats first then infantry etc gunner and rockets - in real life the gunner does have a set of controls to fly with if the pilot dies or has an urgent date or something. Rockets should be controlled by the pilot because you need to point them by pointing the aircraft at the target. By the way we have gunners because lots of helicopters have crashed in to things as pilots have been faffing with weapon systems, yes it is that hard to fly helicopters! realistic engagment ranges - you could have an option if people have the processing power to have realistic enagement ranges where M1 Abrams will happily engage with thermal imaging at 2.0 - 2.5km ranges Water - everyone says about water, i'm not that bothered but it would open up a huge area of possibilities e.g. on that guard mission where you lost at cards and you have to guard the area the russians could have special water guys come crawling onto the beach and harpoon gun you! If you call it NATO have the British! - I'm sorry to say due to our leadership that after America has decided to "liberate" a country e.g. Kosovo the first people there are the Gurkas/SAS/Royal Marines etc and the last ones there are the Americans with shiploads of goodies like haircombs!!! I'm sorry to offend any Americans here but the British forces breed a dislike of the Americans because they usually shoot us thinking we're the enemy. When we are forced to share a base with them they come over with a jeep full of Coca Cola and cornflakes asking us stupid questions like "do you have many mobile phones over there?" Also have the Germans and French because they are always there to help us and talk to and also because lot's of people in France and Germany play OFP. Blue on Blue - if you have americans in any scenario you're gonna have them blowing up anything that moves Animations - how many soldiers run with their rifles sticking out so if they trip/ or dive down their barrels get jammed up with mud? I've been looking at previous screenshots of OFP on the official website and the animations look more realistic! Even though the graphics aren't top notch i would really have liked to play the previous versions! Bloody hell i've typed a lot on my first post! Oh well hope you agree with at least one of my ideas!
