There's no swimme in ArmA 1+1, only float. :O And boats can drive on land, why need water? :O Subs need water, no subs = no water, noe? ---------- Post added at 17:24 ---------- Previous post was at 17:15 ---------- pfaF-49LLV8 See?

Hey, hey, hey - not me, but people who vote with their money and their time. Regardless of outcome, I have already cast a vote, or a pledge even. ;)

Wow, dude, you're funny. Some bunker doors are not meant to be opened without blowing up the whole hill/rock formation. :) Hey, by that logic, why was there water on Chernarus, so no subs, no water, noe? I konfused. :(

    Warfare BE

    Aww. :(
  6. No, the point is, in vanilla ArmA, which is an FPS, you have to fight, and fight you do with crap controls and whatnot, but in a mod like DayZ, people who have never played any of the originals feel comfortable, because it can be played like an RPG, and suddenly the crap scroll lists don't exert such a heavy toll on the player, when you can disengage at will most of the time. It's a case of "Why play ArmA, when there's Battlefield 3 with the same concept, but on a lesser scale and with proper gamemodes, balance and controls?". ---------- Post added at 13:42 ---------- Previous post was at 13:29 ---------- BIS could work on CTI-Warfare, some standardised Co-op CTI ala Evo/Demo, TvT C&H ala Ber[z]erk, which would total only two very popular general Gamemodes/Missions (Warfare & Evo/Domi equivalents) and the rest is various TvT. PvP CTI, Co-Op CTI, and TvT are equally important, but TvT presents more room for scenarios: hostage situations, CTF, bomb/defuse, DM and many more. Copy other games in this regard if need be, because no matter how hard you do it, ArmA will stay OFP, which is great. Talk of professional 5v5 official matches on some obscure patch of land is out the question, because without proper public gameplay, you won't evolve the playerbase to reach that level.

    Warfare BE

You can bind the action to a key to deploy "last used" item during base building. I don't remember where exactly it is located (Bulldozer commands?), or how it's named, but it is in the ArmA control options. Benny, help us out here!

Benny, you are God. Is BIS paying you yet? :D I have always felt Blufor HF was somewhat underwhelming at first few levels - Great change! I haven't played ArmA in a long while, but I can clearly remember that there needs to be a centre of gravity on the map to make FOBs, fortifications and other sneaky stuff viable, it also changes the dynamics for the better. Having no experience with the setting, which you have described, the only change I'd suggest to make it viable alternative to free-for-all towns, is to introduce a middle point group of towns, which is always open and available to both teams from the start of the game. Example: if starting distance is 10 km and Opfor starts around Krasnostav, Blufor at Zelenogorsk, then Stary Sobor/Novy Sobor and maybe Kabanino need to be capture-able from the beginning. Takistan example: Opfor - Rasman, Blufor - N of Loy Manara, then Feruz Abad is active. Otherwise, I can see a lot more players going on base hunts from the get-go. P.S. Qaz su-34 nab. xD

Multiplayer Balancing - Will Arma3's MP be balanced?

Why not, NoRailgunner? Is ArmA not an FPS? Is real life not twichy? Is ArmA not already twitchy, albeit with crap controls and animations? Scale the concept a hundred times and you have multiple CQB engagements all over the urban areas of worth; logistics and mine-laying/barricading by an another team/player on major chokepoints; a tank battle over 2 km elsewhere; a small team helo sortie to enemy base/fortifications and 1200 m sniper engagement (killing AA pods or what have you) in another spot, to prepare way to CAS and aircraft strikes - all on the same map, on the same server! The above already happens, though again, there's simply not enough players on the servers in the long term, because of the issues that had been mentioned many times before.
  11. Celery has the right ideas. To anyone mentioning the success of DayZ and/or modding, http://i47.tinypic.com/10wu108.png (221 kB) It speaks volumes of balance and gameplay cohesion, when there are more hackers in a Zombie apocalypse modification of the game, than there are players in the original/milsim online community.

Multiplayer Balancing - Will Arma3's MP be balanced?

Oh shit, caught before the edit. :icon_mrgreen: BI are actually very generous with content and patches, but they're entering another league with the quality that they provided in ArmA III E3/GC demos, and public (hint: they're not on this forum for the most part) expectations are adjusting accordingly.

Multiplayer Balancing - Will Arma3's MP be balanced?

I take it BI exists for the fulfillment of whatever fantasies you might have, and is not there to make a profit? Public PvP is the majority of PvP, or any kind of online activity, and that majority votes with their money. P.S. Where the logic of whining on this subject, and then mentioning Public gameplay, as if you're only into private servers/communities? Some advice: upon release, mod your "private game", add the Tunguska, the Skud launchers, the BFGs, the 69th generation aircraft to one side, so you may "enjoy" your battle from the other.

Controls Scheme & User Interface Feedback

Cool story bro. You mean a contest during the Alpha testing, right, right?! Because otherwise, it will flop and all that hard work on physics and revamped animations goes to waste and then cue ArmA IV Wishlist.
  15. Because BIS doesn't provide anything of worth in vanilla. The equivalents of Warfare BE are either lacking in features or proper team (asset) balance. In order to standardise what the (new) player can expect of ArmA. Most quit, prior to discovering the missions which you have mentioned, the rest, finding them, give high praise to ArmA and its potential, but the train has left, and so have most of the people, who would be still played, had there been user-friendly interface and standardised gamemodes. Might as well recruit Benny/Xeno to be BI Devs. :D

    BM 21 Grad

Evening. I think there isn't one in the vanilla/default missions supplied by BIS. I would highly recommend you to download Warfare Benny's Edition, which is essentially the same CTI, though much more refined and usable, containing most, if not all units in the game. Grad BM-21 can be purchased from the LF with Light Factory upgrade 2 AFAIR in the BE version. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?138805-Warfare-BE
  17. Online multiplayer makes or breaks the games, unless you're BioWare developing an established single-player Sci-fi, Fantasy franchise. Once upon a time, hitting "Connect", the player was presented with bullets flying out of nowhere, "Oh, dear", the player remarked, "Better deploy that wall of smoke", but little did the player know that he would once again mistap the F weapons cycle key and end up selecting Satchels, thus prompting another five or six taps to select the smoke grenade. In the end, our player can't rationalise such a system and quits. ---------- Post added at 16:22 ---------- Previous post was at 16:04 ---------- Tell me that this system doesn't beg for dedicated weapons/equipment keys, DG6P8AYg2c4

Oh, this could be the solution to TAB+CLICK=Boom, especially the second screenshot, <3 Ka-52. ALT+mouse to operate the forward-looking radar/camera when in Weapons green/optics mode would ensure relatively easy access and operation of targeting, as well as not hampering the ability to fly the aircraft at the same time, and less rage on the ground. :)
  19. Staying in catch-22 and doing nothing is not an option. Since AI control is rather unique to OFP/ArmA, copy industry's standard for character mechanics and weapon usability, which had served the world well for over 15 years, and devise a separate AI command control interface, while at the same time revising the number of commands and their functions. I hardly used anything besides 3-5, 7-2, Move To, Return to formation, Stop and 2 - Target list in hardcore online Warfare. Well, ok, "Scan horizon" was sometimes useful for an AI commander slot in a vehicle or a gunner pilot on an AH, but that's an exception. Also, Scan horizon for AI infantry is broken, NWSE watch directions totally useless for dynamic combat, or even a simple patrol, number of formations can be reduced, there are other useless commands, which I can't recall, since it's been a year since I played ArmA. :)
  20. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?p=2197608#post2197608 OMG, thank you for finding this quote. If that's the general mindset at BI studios, then they can clearly see the Light. Everyone else: ADAPT, bitchez.
  21. Yea, either engine specific, or global GPU driver. Nvidia's Stereo 3D Vision comes to mind straight away, and if the device as people describe it, then it will be race to the finish with AMD. :icon_twisted:
  22. Precisely. There's a small window of opportunity, which can generate a PVP scene one player at a time, but if the controls barrier is irrationally complex, in addition to the game itself, then the first five minutes in Basic Training Camp will end up in ALT+F4 and Uninstall. Natural selection, one might say? Not quite, unless the current ArmA playerbase wants to be the ultra enthusiasts that we are, embracing complex simulation systems of the game and disregarding the awful controls to enjoy the former. TL;DR: Weapons/equipment selection should be mapped to number row keys, AI command interface must be derivative and should be reworked ONLY once Basic Gameplay is in order.
  23. I'm here to do all the hyperbole exaggerations for you. :) If BIS wanted to fully support this particular HMD, then the rendering would have to account for the curvature of the optics, http://www.mtbs3d.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=140&t=15417#p80690 Warp the render in reverse and the lens straightens it out.

Confirmed features now cancelled - your thoughts?

Why not? Operation Arrowhead expansion was worth it, I mean ship vanilla ArmA II with no aircraft counter-measures and overpowered ground anti-air systems, then add flares later in an expansion... waait, bad example. Ok, ok: graphical improvements, like the SSAO, in-game thermal imaging, a Takistani island, a new campaign, units and another playable force is a better one. I don't see anything wrong with the 3D Editor coming in a later expansion.

Confirmed features now cancelled - your thoughts?

TBH, if ArmA III succeeds as a multiplayer game with a strong competitive playerbase, then I hope BIS will milk us via DLCs to give u guise whatever dreams you have. 3D Editor? DLC! Alternate Standardised Bug-free & balanced PvP gamemodes with unique unit sets? DLC! ToH copter flight model? DLC! What else is there on the wishlist? I'm not joking. :) ---------- Post added at 15:43 ---------- Previous post was at 15:37 ---------- P.S. Stay rational, don't dream of things that even multi-billion studios can't achieve. Ragdoll physics and reworked animations on a new island alone is worthy of the name ArmA III.
