    Just open the mission.sqm file and remove Vop sound from the addons-list in the top of the file. This way you can have the mod active, and not make it a requirement for others playing the mission.
  2. Well, duh. Of course berets are not worn in combat. They don't protect against shrapnel and they highlight you against foliage. It's perfect for in-base soldiers though

    The thing is that every kind of config file is loaded by ArmA as you start the program. I'd assume that this also covers the FSM, which means that if an addon changed/added things to the FSM this would also be loaded at startup and put into memory and thus not slowing the game down a bit. It'll take a tiny bit longer to start ArmA, but that's it.

    It's easy math for losing energy when climbing. If you increase your AOA with 1 degree you will lose energy and subsequently fly slower and slower, unless you add a proportionate amount of energy to accelerate - i.e. adding more thrust. This is where the problem in ArmA is, since we can't really fine-tune the thrust to compensate for fine changes in AOA. I do agree on the other points though.

    Agreed. More freedom to actually change the FSM would be greatly appreciated. At the moment even if someone would manage to make something usable FSM-wise the default FSM will still override the custom FSM as soon as it encounters something that is covered by the default FSM. It is more or less impossible to actually change the behaviour of the AI since the default behaviour will interrupt whatever custom behaviour you give it.

    Ah, that did it. Thanks everyone. Time to see if I can get this bugger to work. Haven't had much luck with other voice control softwares.
  7. ace_config_core_ai_engagement has ace_config_weapon as a requiredAddon, which means it won't load until after ace_config_weapon, and at that point start overwriting config values. Sum of it all: The values from ace_config_core_ai_engagement are used since they are the last change to those values.

    What is the current version of Pilfius? Googling around I can only find 0.9 which seem to be from 2007, and the Pilfius homepage is unaccessible at the moment :S

    This is stuff I like. I agree that it's not perfectly professional to have this letter to CM be public, but on the other hand CM has leeched on BIS's work with OFP to promote their own completely unrelated product, and against the contract on top of that. The least they deserve is a public kick in the balls.

  13. A must to avoid graphical bugs on some systems. No matter the solution for parallax effects there's always some system (i.e. graphics cards model dependant) that'll get alpha-rays and stuff like that. We can just hope BIS has solved these problems for ArmA2.
  14. As I understood it this had to be done to help the retarded AI some, and not break it to bits. The AI likes being on the ground, and to not give it game-breaking restrictions making it even more unable to fight than it has now, it'd not be fun for anyone. Unfortunately (as far as I understand) the 3rd person animations are what the AI use, and therefore the 3rd person view could not be given the limitations from 1st person.
  15. Also, turning while rolling is really fast. Just roll with your Q/E keys and turn as much as you can, and you can almost turn 180 degrees at once. And I can add again, even though it's been said before: Use free-look while having the sights up. If you hold 'alt' while aiming you have a 160 degree fire arc when lying down. The big bonus with the slow turning is that if you want to turn without showing the whole world you are doing so, then it is slow. Fast turning which includes movement/rolling keys is highly visible and noisy.

Disposable system was scrapped for a few reasons, one being a CTD that would happen on the odd occasion when an AI unit fired (was hard to reproduce, but disabling all scripts where the AI was forced to drop weapons fixed it). And a scripted disposable system just doesn't integrate well into gameplay IMO. The workarounds it uses are just too visible to the player and a bit of a nuisance. But maybe it will appear again if someone can do it well. I don't think a solution that simply removes the weapon after being fired is good because you can't carry more than one launcher then. The reloadable rockets simulate being able to carry multiple launchers. The CTD problems have been solved. The current problem is to make the system both intuitive, technically functional, and rucksack-friendly. Also to make it without causing too much server lag. A simple disposable launcher only needs to work off the fired EH. Simple and effective. If one wants to use it with rucksacks or being able to carry several of them and so on it instantly gets quite a lot more complicated, starts to need looping scripts, and so on. Tried a few different methods, but haven't yet decided what to turn the final version into.

    What platform would you buy it for?

    PC for sure. More mod-friendly, more friendly for multiple peripheral controls (my X-52 HOTAS and TrackIR). Wouldn't ever cross my mind to play anything else on a console than beat 'em ups and J-RPGs. Shooters and strategy games stays on my PC.

    Does BI listen?!

    It would be great . Also by doing this they should add an accuracy boost to the rifle /smg . Accuracy doesn't necessarily become better just because you use a vertical grip. It depends on your stance, and also how far forward/back you have the grip. Overall it improves one's accuracy when standing and shooting though, at the distance one has adjusted the grip to be best for. Its main application is for FIBUAR, where fighting ranges are well below the 250m or more that's expected outside cities.

    Tank Fire Control Systems

    The big problem with trying to make something more generally usable out of this addon is that it needs to have fully modelled optics in the tank, which means that *every* tank one wants to use this with need to have its model altered to very, very, very exact measurements. With that being done neither the range 'disc' for the Russian tanks will work, or the optics that always keeps the correct MOA scale (unlike BIS's optics that are a static 2D sprite and that's only good for one specific and untold magnification)

    The cannon *does* sound good. Inside the helicopter, where the sound really muffled and directed away from the helicopter. I can agree with that it sounds very "meh" outside though. Non the less it looks marvelous! I don't want to imagine how much work has gone into all the FFAR proxies and to make the gunner interface.
  23. Correct. A single thread just as this is a complete mess that's horribly difficult to navigate and find anything useful in, or to have people read your replies in. Simply put it can't get much worse than this, so this thread doesn't get much if any attention as far as bugs are concerned. The Project Tools on www.acemod.net/forums is where we want them.
  24. As far as I know it can't be done in any easy way. You'll have to change the config for the helicopters so that the weapon entries are in the correct scope (gunner's).
  25. Yep, forums are currently down. I'm unaware of the reason though. And as for the TOW and HF working like a charm with the Cobra, it's the only helicopter currently using the ACE Fire Control System.
