I get the grey screen from time to time as well with WinXP Pro 32bit SP3, 2GB DDR2 RAM, and an ATI 4850 1GB, 9.11 WHQL drivers. ---------- Post added at 11:13 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:34 AM ---------- A little update here. I tried MadDogXs repro steps on the last page, and it works practically half the time. Out of ten attempts it looked as follows: 1: Nothing 2: Nothing 3: Nothing 4: Black screen (same as grey screen but in black colour) 5: Grey screen 6: Nothing 7: Nothing 8: Nothing 9: Grey screen 10: Black screen (same as grey screen but in black colour) Every single time I get the grey/black screen the game is stuck at using about 230-240MB of RAM.
  5. Indeed. Here is where varying muzzle flashes would be nice, so that not every single flash is so distinctive, at least giving a slight chance to see when shooting.
  6. I voted for Crouch and Take Cover. I'm not certain if ordered Danger is the same as AI simply being in Aware mode. That is what I assumed, and I would want the AI to stay in formation if Aware unless told otherwise. I also think that Crouch (running or walking) is a good way to tell "keep your heads down", whether fired upon or not. A lot of the time I move, or want to move, in bounding overwatch even when not recieving fire, simply because I MAY get fired upon and don't want the entire team in the open. If Danger is NOT the same as being Aware, then it sounds like a better option than Take Cover though.

  8. I'm yet to see someone in ArmA hold their gun by the hip ;) As stated it's 'point shooting'. Hold the weapon to the shoulder while firing, but don't use the sights. Agree that it would be nice with crosshairs for hand grenades, underbarrel grenade launchers, and mounted weapons, while not having rifle crosshairs though. Not to mention repeating the same old song about that the current crosshairs are too accurate. Silly when one doesn't bother using the ironsights because the crosshairs are more accurate than the ironsights at 400m.

  12. As far as my research can tell me there doesn't exist any silencer for the SVD. It isn't designed to use any at all, and the VSS Vintorez covers that need quite well. The suppressed SVU exists (a shorter, bullpup-version of the SVD with built-in suppressor) but it is still a really loud weapon. Just not as stupidly loud as the SVD. Generally used by for example OMON since it brings the decibel-levels down to something you'd tolerate firing from inside a building and stuff, which may be commonly required in their police task force style of work.

    Zeus AI Combat Skills

    UPS is only a script suite that controls the AI's waypoints and related behaviour, coordinating several AI squads with eachother for improved combat effectiveness. It doesn't touch the configs at all, while configs is the core of the Zeus mod. Fully compatible together. Although the percieved result and/or combat effectiveness of the AI may vary with/without Zeus for UPS, since the way it moves and fights might or might not be optimal for the Zeus AI settings.

    Are you using the optional fnc_scopes_acogrhweps_c.pbo? It is required to make RH's weapons use the new optics.

    Wonderful! I love you, Finc! I've so been missing proper sights! I appreciate 31st MEU's ballstics, but I loathe the idea of using a universal reticle. This hit the sweet spot!

  18. SLX. I can't exactly specify what with SLX causes the memory leak though. Most of the mod works like it should, but something with it doesn't. You'll have to try your way with disabling one PBO at a time, because as far as I know Solus himself doesn't know yet what causes it. If you manage to find out which part of SLX causes the ~10MB/s memory leak, please post it in the SLX thread to help him out :)

Tell that to pilots in Iraq and Afghanistan :P A-10s are infamous for their blue on blue fire, since it's practically impossible to identify what you shoot at as a pilot, and the A-10s tend to have quite good effect on target. Get the wrong directions as pilot, or misunderstand the directions, and poop happens.

    NO tracers.

    The existance of tracers are defined in the configs per ammo/magazine/weapon (can't remember which one of them). Shouldn't be overly hard to mod away.
  23. As with a lot of other things: Keep it toggleable! Since one can't hear a soldier's breath get heavier because he's obviously not breathing (holding breath is called holding breath for a reason) some kind of graphical representation could be needed. At least as long as one depresses the button for 'Hold Breath'. When releasing it can just as well disappear, since it's not needed any longer :)
  24. In the end I think a system like America's Army 3 would be pretty neat. A moderate amount of sway while just holding the weapon up, then you can hold breath to dramatically stabilize the weapon, and there's a stamina meter starting to get drained. Once that meter runs out your avatar HAS to breathe and the sway becomes terrible, and after a moment the stamina meter starts to refill again. ArmA2 is somewhere in that direction, but it can probably be improved some more (aside from fixing the annoyingly broken animation in crouched stance causing all that sway)
