Actually the AI does have to deal with it. AI can be effectively suppressed by hitting within (I think) 0.5m of them. However note the "hitting". Bullets passing them within the distance doesn't affect them. Only actual bullet impacts. Thus sometimes if you meet AI and are without immediate cover it can be better to shoot standing, putting 5-10 shots at them without the need to hit, just to mess up their aim enough to allow you to get into cover.

What 3 Things would you like to witness in your lifetime?
Inkompetent replied to jeza's topic in OFFTOPIC
I'm not saying it's a problem. I'm just saying they should stop being so darn politician-ish about it and starting being a bit upfront! And well, I'll happily die in a mass-extinction for the sake of stopping screwing our fine planet over. As long a I get to live to see a many billion die before I pass too. Nature is so much better without animals with the capacity to screw over the natural order of things. With a few remaining individuals at stone age tech we're at least quite limited in how much we can ruin and exploit. -

1) Get rid of all humans 2) Failing that, at least kill off 99.999% of all humans and reduce the rest back to the stone age 3) EU to admit it's a diplomatic attempt at creating the Third Reich. -
Falcon 4.0: Allied Force has a good Balkan campaign, but that's the only other one I know of.

Never said I play LAN, did I? ;) I play online. Just not on public servers. -

Yep, Raven Shield/Athena Sword. But only play either single player, or with some of my near friends. -

The ones I currently play would be: Rainbow Six 3 World of Tanks Total War: Shogun 2 RUSE Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War 2 -
This. People who actively TRY to be dumb should be left dumb.

An important thing here I guess is that the standard ammunition for US, the M855 Ball, is designed for the 20" barrel of the M16, meaning worse performance with carbines. The new M855A1 round (from 2010) is designed primarily for the M4 however, and should mean all 5.56-platforms (M4, M16, M249) have good performance.

Most reasonable take on a new tank I've seen yet, and looks like a probable basis for a new tank. Most other designs shown have been so... special I don't think Russia would ever afford to finish them.

Death of Retail. No future for the High Street and the Mall?
Inkompetent replied to walker's topic in OFFTOPIC
Prefer DVDs. Especially until internet is fast enough to match a DVD in install speed. Online distribution by whatever means is obviously the future. A future I reluctantly accept. -
Well, at least they're going all-out arcade with it! Better than getting stuck in between, not knowing if wanting to be a sim or an arcade game, like some other titles. Looks like it could give some short-lived but awesome fun.

CM Operation Flashpoint 3 announced | "Oops, they're doing it again..."

Now with ArmA2:Free coming there ain't a single reasonable excuse for the Codie-players with a PC to not play ArmA2. I wonder what Conmasters will do about that, with their dying franchise. BIS scores another one! -

What the failing fuck... Get out of the game industry, Ubisoft! You've ruined it enough! -
Ragdolls = In .... Realistic wounds ???
Inkompetent replied to guiltyspark's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Heh. Interesting angled choices in this poll. How come there's no option for "toned down, and no dismemberment"? Full gore serves little purpose. Dismemberment is nothing but resource-hogging eye candy (both development time and computer resources). Wound representation can still be quite realistic without needing to be super-gory. -
Well, the alchemy tree does have some nice things. For example I pretty much only used Swallow, Cat, and Golden Oriole potions simply because the negative effects on all other potions made me stay away from them, being a swordsman with pretty much zero alchemy points. Think alchemy can become very impressive once one gets into that tree. Agreed also that Wraiths are one of the tougher opponents. Think that quick->heavy and heavy->heavy attack combos worked pretty well on them though, simply trying to stay out of range of their attacks instead of blocking them.

Finished it yesterday, and I think it was a fantastic game. I loved the first game, and this one was in most regards much better. There are some things that I think should be improved (such as possibility to upgrade mutagens with more powerful versions), but it is still a masterpiece, both in gameplay, story, and aesthetics. Solid purchase.

Condition field: this && henk in thisList Alternatively group the trigger to the vehicle, if it is a crewed vehicle belonging to some side (the trigger is then actually grouped to the CREW, and not the vehicle).

First, search for the thread with info on briefings either here or on ofpec.com Secondly, find a mission you like, and crack it open, is my best suggestion. There are several tools out there to "unPBO" the PBO file missions are packed into. Really the best way to learn to make particular things work is to see how others have done it. My only suggestion there is: Do NOT look at Domination, Insurgency, or Evolution the first thing you do, unless you have some decent coding-experience. All of them are pretty complex missions script-wise.

Info age question. Can I remove the markers and the recognizion?
Inkompetent replied to JacobJ's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Never set up a dedicated server myself, but I think what you want to have set is: enemyTag=0; Map=0; AutoSpot=0; My suggestion would be to just set this for one prefered difficulty setting. For example you have the server set up so that "Regular" difficulty is your prefered settings for COOP missions, and Veteran for TvT-missions, and just making sure all missions are played at the intended setting on your server. -

Inkompetent replied to JacobJ's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
difficultyEnabled doesn't *change* the difficulty settings. It just checks if the setting is on or off. As far as I know the only solution is to change the difficulty settings on the server machine to disable all extended map info and auto-spotting. -
It gives you the option to have different endings with different end-results/messages through the briefing.html file. So instead of a binary "win or loss" you can have several kinds or grades of endings. This is quite helpful in campaigns when you want the outcome of one mission to have effect on the next mission(s) in the campaign, since you can use different 'keys' in the campaign depending on the ending.

I don't really see (from the Kotaku article) how "going back to the roots" and "far more story-driven game than previous iterations" can go hand-in-hand. They are just trying to score some points with fans of the original games, and then screw them over again. After all it's Ubisoft we are talking about. They are too big to even care about making a game that's *not* mainstream. And the old R6-games aren't mainstream. My hopes for this game are alread six feet under.

No. The game costs $20 to buy, and for that you get two keys. So $10 per key :)

As for the UAVs it depends on the class of UAV. There are lots of smaller ones that are locally launched, but those huge SOBs, like the USAF's MQ-9 Reaper, they are often (but not exclusively) controlled from USA by satellite link.
