    Bohemia Interactive's future ARMA 3!

Not to mention remake and replace every single vehicle model with versions with openable doors. Quiiiiiite a lot of work!

    Different Player Faction

Non-American campaigns? Yes please. Even though the AK-sights are Terribad-2000â„¢ I still enjoy insurgency-missions. Other skins? Silly. It'd completely break the scenario-feel to start with. And how reasonable is it to send maybe 10MB of data to 50 other people at the start of a mission just because one is vain like a primadonna and can't use what one is assigned but have to use custom stuff?
  3. Although fuel tanks generally don't explode unless they are almost all empty and just containing fuel vapours. They just (at most) start to burn. A thermobaric weapon is pretty much an ordinary weapon, just that instead of the explosion originating from a specific point, instead originates from a larger volume (like about a football field, if I recall the MOAB stats accurately), creating a bit different destruction within the blast zone, but the shockwave damage extending from that blast zone will be like all other bombs.

Which are you running, 32 or 64-bit?

Well, with 64bit Windows systems finally being out of beta (yes, entire Vista isn't worth more than being called beta, and XP wasn't made to run 64bit so it was just handicapped 64bit support. Not a 64bit OS) and with proper 64bit hardware becomming commonplace it'll become the new standard. With WinXP being out of Microsoft's loop it's just a matter of a few years before 64bit will be dominant even with casual users, since their have-toupgrade-to-keep-up computers will come with OEM-licensed Win7.

    Arma ii editor guide

The doesn't exist one. The closest you get is Mr Murray's Editing Guide for ArmA1 ( http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=4847 ) which to 99% still applies to ArmA2 (aside from that class names will differ between the two games). It doesn't cover all new script-stuff for ArmA2 though. Problem with something this complex is (like with all programming languages) that even though you have a complete API over the script commands, the application of those commands can't ever be fully documented since people always comes up with new ways to use them :)
  6. Nice, good start! Well, written, and with some really helpful advice in there that I know bothered me a lot back in the days. :)

    Hitpoint Inf

Don't think that if the model physically has a helmet or not matters. It is based on what class it inherits from (to my knowledge no specific role like FAC with boonie gets different armour than a specops in full body armour). So it more depends on what A soldier of that faction usually wears to judge the damage. And a 5.56 against a helmet is not a guaranteed kill, since the game doesn't have any complex damage calculation for exact tissue damage.

    Bohemia Interactive's future ARMA 3!

Us that still use 2GB systems to game on are a dying breed. We haven't kept up with evolution, and every passing day makes us more of a minority. Can hardly expect ArmA3 if it comes to cater to us not upgrading to reasonably modern systems.
  9. Definite no. Sure, BVR-fighting is nice, but to have a missile that reaches across the entire map, practically one-shotting enemy planes even before they get off the air strip from the other edge of the map? Nah. Realistic ranges are for games/simulators with realistic distances. ArmA is anything but that and very, very, very much noticably so when it comes to vehicles, and 100x more noticable when we specifically get to jets. Should be scaled down, not only to accomodate to avarage island sizes, but more spefically to avarage view distances: I.e. heat-seakers can't be used for BVR fighting (although if using realistic ranges it'd be like 5x peoples' view distance in-game). Radar guided and anti-radiation missiles for BVR, heat-seakers, video, and laser guided for visual range combat.
  10. Instead of reinstalling you can just copy-paste the relevant PBO files, in this case it'd be from the 1.05 patch?
  11. My love, my betrothed, my bunkmate is back! Charlie G, say hello to papa! Once again I can feel happy about blowing stuff up in front of me (and behind me if people absolutely have to lack respect for the backblast!) ! :D
  12. Wow! That's one sexy beast! Thanks for the hard work!
  13. Well, unless the Humvee is uparmoured there isn't very much that's very bulletproof with it ^^
  14. Incredible! I don't think my crappy on-board sound can handle too much of this, but it doesn't matter. It sounds fantastic and adds a whole new dimension to the soundscape and immersion of the game!

    Generation kill mod

Which on top of absolutely no description and being huuuuge is also way, way, way above permitted image size!

    Medical Chain Module

My thing however requires one further thing: The presence of the medic. This is debateable of course and a bit gamey, but a way to simulate taking care of unforeseen changes in the state of the casualty, make sure to help provide IV, and stuff like that which isn't included in detail in the wound system.
  17. ACE devs actually used SVN for ACE1, but moved AWAY from it because it was too bad (for the repository) to keep using, instead moving over to Git ;)

    Medical Chain Module

Hmmm.. Got an idea for those thinking that the time span is too short to save shot people. How about letting the presence of a medic work like an ambulance? So that the person the medic is closest to (or maybe an action for the medic on a wounded person of choice whom he then has to remain close to) gets his bleeding completely stopped. That way the medic can sustain a person until the ambulance arrives by being in the very, very close proximity of him, but as soon as he moves away the person starts bleeding again.

Lovely-dovely! Thanks for the beta releases! Got to take this one out for a spin!

    Shogun 2 Total War announced

Shogun is still the best game in the series imo. Only reason I don't play it nowadays is that the camera and unit controls during battles are completely terrible by today's standards. I like the limited scope of the campaign and the limited scope of the campaign. It reduces the things that can go wrong with the AI and general game mechanics (chariots and phalanxes in Rome, anyone?), and it gives an actual attainable end rather than the endless campaigns of the other games that just become boring repetition once one is big enough anyway. The battle AI of Shogun is probably still the best of the five games despite that it is the oldest one, and even if the campaign AI isn't the best it isn't at least plainly self-contradicting like the one in Rome (where war and diplomacy AI are two separate AIs that don't cooperate at all). They also say (as they did with the original Shogun) that they'll make the game rely a lot on Sun Tzu's teachings. It wasn't overly apparant in the first game, so we'll see how much they actually mean it, but it would be cool if they made cause&effect more black and white and removed the greyscale of it, as well as added depth to the strategy map to allow for Sun Tzu's stuff to shine through. We'll see how they pull this one off. Despite the fresh changes in Empire and Napoleon and the awesomeness of broken Rome (still love the game despite its major flaws) they seriously need to shape up. Creative Assembly needs to do something fresh, and something that's not totally feckin' broken at release and that takes over a year to patch to playability. They haven't really inspired a lot of confidence in the playerbase.
  21. Makes me think of the implementation in Red Orchestra, which is fantastic. Their step-based stuff from optics, to tank interior/viewports, to unbuttoned, to unbuttoned with binoculars.
  22. Neat! Hadn't even heard of the rifle before so had to look it up, but it looks really nice. Love the calibre. Really nice touch with the camouflaged 'sleeve' too!
  23. Oh, right. Total misread by me. Yeah, I wonder about the usefulness of that too. Although I can't say I find it in the way. It's just... there. At least some kind of direction for the casuals not frequenting the forums I guess.
  24. The loading screen isn't there to look fancy and give credits. It is used for credits as a side effect, and any mission maker can make it display what they want it to display as far as I've understood. The loading screen is there because it freezes everything else in the game, so that CBA can initialize fully before stuff depending on CBA starts getting run.
  25. And the un-commenting makes the AI get exactly what the line says: No voice. Comment the line out and they'll get their voice back :)
