  1. Have you guys figured out wound textures yet for custom models? I had no problem with them in A2 but somehow they won't work for A3. I have the selections defined in the model itself as in the model.cfg of the A3 example files (Body_Injury, l_leg_injury, ...) and linked them in the unit's CfgVehicles entry: class ice123_musket_dude1 : B_Soldier_F { ... class Wounds { tex[] = {}; mat[] = {"ice123_musket\rvmat\redcoat.rvmat","ice123_musket\rvmat\redcoat_w1.rvmat","ice123_musket\rvmat\redcoat_w2.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\BLUFOR\Data\clothing1.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\BLUFOR\Data\clothing1_injury.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\BLUFOR\Data\clothing1_injury.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\Common\Data\basicbody.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\Common\Data\basicbody_injury.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\Common\Data\basicbody_injury.rvmat","A3\characters_f\common\data\coveralls.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\Common\Data\coveralls_injury.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\Common\Data\coveralls_injury.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\Heads\Data\hl_white_bald_muscular.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\Heads\Data\hl_white_bald_muscular_injury.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\Heads\Data\hl_white_bald_muscular_injury.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\Heads\Data\hl_black_bald_muscular.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\Heads\Data\hl_black_bald_muscular_injury.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\Heads\Data\hl_black_bald_muscular_injury.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\Heads\Data\hl_white_hairy_muscular.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\Heads\Data\hl_white_hairy_muscular_injury.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\Heads\Data\hl_white_hairy_muscular_injury.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\Heads\Data\hl_white_old.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\Heads\Data\hl_white_old_injury.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\Heads\Data\hl_white_old_injury.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\Heads\Data\hl_asian_bald_muscular.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\Heads\Data\hl_asian_bald_muscular_injury.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\Heads\Data\hl_asian_bald_muscular_injury.rvmat"}; }; }; ... However, ingame none of them will show up. Blood will only appear at the skin texture (which uses BIS A3 wound rvmats) :raisebrow:

CiA Petition Letter to BIS and DnA's Response

Btw: Is there something magical going on in A3 I don't know about or is it really that we don't have 2 different wound textures now anymore? (ORG RVMAT) (INJURY1) (INJURY2) "A3\Characters_F\Heads\Data\hl_white_bald_muscular.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\Heads\Data\hl_white_bald_muscular_injury.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\Heads\Data\hl_white_bald_muscular_injury.rvmat", "A3\Characters_F\BLUFOR\Data\clothing1.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\BLUFOR\Data\clothing1_injury.rvmat","A3\Characters_F\BLUFOR\Data\clothing1_injury.rvmat" In contrast to ArmA1 and ArmA2 the injury rvmats also don't contain any special injury nohq maps anymore. Dumbed do... oh no, not the evil word. :)

Mods and ARMA 3 on the same level as FSX?

Sorry, I don't have time to read "textwalls" these days so I'll shorten your quote - this is not ment in an offensive way - but purely out of practical reasons. Paid DLC is not a new thing, sure. Where do you get the assumption that did I say otherwise? ---- As for the madness, it's pretty simple. Once you start having "professional", paid modding teams there'll be a split in the community, even more than the split we allready have (new modders not able to catch up because of the complexity of arma3 modding compared to OFP, "undocumented features", splitted WIKI information,...) . There'll be less tutorials and example files from paid groups or even amateur modders striving to make their own paid mod since sharing is not so much caring anymore but giving away resources for free and raising your compeditors knowledge. Whenever money is involved as direct as in that, people will get greedy and bad things will happen. I'd be in the same boat and not releasing any sample files / tutorials anymore plus removing any example stuff or tutorials that I've allready released. Why shouldn't I, when people have the chance to exploit these commercially? Also unpaid modders will be reluctant to release any mods, holding them back until at one point he gets to be a paid modder. Why should he "work for free" when others get paid for their stuff. "Nah this will never happen, people won't be like that!" "People" allready don't care bout IP rights concerning YT licenses, e.g. people monetize hundreds of videos of a mod that I supplied models for, but never gave a permission to the YT users or was asked for one. Greed has been, is and will always be greater than altruism. There's a saying here in Germany we have and it applies to this whole situation: "Bei Geld hört die Freundschaft auf" (Money breaks friendship). And with the end of friendship, these forums will be alot of fun and the day I leave them...

Mods and ARMA 3 on the same level as FSX?

Payware, mod DLC and more? Good thing I neither play nor mod ArmA3 alot these days to see any of this madness unfold. Atleast people didn't have these ideas before. It's very bad mojo. Just have BIS run their DLCs and stuff like done in the past, contracting some modders work on their own plans (although I'd prefer if they'd finish the game first).

You mean A2 or A3? Didn't pay attention to arms / aiming yet but if that is gone too, I'd be disappointed.

Just nice to see something is not done the way it was done in the past. Particulary interesting, if you take a look at "this other thread". I'm not allowed to be more specific.
  8. Yep. Not having enough different enough models because of "missing reference" does sound like a quirky excuse. It would also have been nice to see a revival of some old equipment in the hands of the FIA faction. Century old weapons have been used and are used in civil war conflicts for some time now.

    Is the game dumbed down?

A free alternative is "shoot", worked well in OFP and ArmA when I tried it. Would need small profile adjustments for A3 but it doesn't cost any money :) . http://clans.gameclubcentral.com/shoot/

    Is the game dumbed down?

Quoting this here, hope Icebreakr doesn't flog me for that, but it's a good summary of A3's state imo. The picture he used to introduce his blog post (http://www.icebreakr.info/) is all the more funny (and sad at the same time) -------------
  11. Is the script also able to shrink RTMS? I think there's a good chance this would work with ArmA1 animations, which would interest me. They're unbinarized and it's possible to import them to ofpanim etc. OFP based RTMs can also be used in ArmA2 directly (and possibly A3) with only config adjustments.

    Is the game dumbed down?

Yep what clydefrog said. Also the tutorial missions were better in ArmA2 imo. In A3 there's no "bootcamp" type tutorials, in the sample missions you start directly in the action and new players might need a more close hand to guide them I guess.
  13. Yep, CQB is better now. But the actual CQB locations aka. buildings are "dumbed down" now, leaving little cover and atmosphere. Where's the furniture? Come on, some simple proxy furniture takes like 5min to add per model. If we had the MLODs, I would add them myself. Right now it looks like everyone has moved out.
  14. @OP VAC won't fix anything. And battleye is battleye. Around for some time, but apparently not the solution. The main problem of the ArmA Series is the client-server model where the client is allowed to do actions like spawning weapons, setpos everyone 1000m into the air etc. without authentication by the server. Imo clients shouldn't be allowed by the engine to use any of these commands by themselves. All sensitive, environment effecting commands should require an "allowance check" with the server. And mission editors should have the possibility to disable them all. edit: Ok, looks like battleye does just that, reading the previous pages. But shouldn't BE have some (advanced) default settings in place? Like updating itself on a regular basis from a filter repository which is maintained by BIS and the community? Most people are lazy and thus they will never spent so much time customizing filters. Can't blame them, anti cheat tools for other games do their work automatically.

    Nice headshot footage [Paint ball]

Yep also no matter how much money you save for not getting it, I strongly recommend taking the groin protection lol. When I first played paintball with 6 buddies we were like "ah no, let's save the 5€". Well I and three others were lucky, but two were hit and actually had to quit the full game  . Wearing knee and elbow protectors is not bad advice either, makes "diving" easier and the shots on kneecaps are not noticable anymore then.

    ARMA III & Steam WORKSHOP

I don't think it would work that way, the new license wouldn't be valid. E.g. otherwise it would mean that people who upload stuff to Google Warehouse could prohibit modifying their work by another license. Yet the Google TOS gives users and Google a vast degree of rights: http://www.google.com/intl/en/sketchup/3dwh/tos.html Similar stuff will be said in the STEAM WS license.
  17. This monetize stuff is uncalled for imo. It really shouldn't get that shady or complicated. Just a release of all A2 content in MLOD format and giving users the ability to use these models for A2 and A3 content creation and prohibiting commercial use. Everything else is just bad mojo. If BIS wants to get any modders work for DLC/game inclusion they'll always find a way, like they have in the past.

    Blastcore A3

Looking forward to a release, finally we get some nice FX effects. :) With envy I saw the new 1.0 project reality effects on the years old BF2 engine, they surpass the vanilla ArmA3 FX effects any day: (look at 1:30)

That's like the last question you ask in mod threads before becoming a pillar of salt. :)

    Question about low MP FPS

The "network bubble" technology which DayZ gets would help with that. It makes clients only receive data updates around their location. Not a priority for ArmA3 though. Atleast for BIS. btw: Does anybody know ANY good server that results in FPS +30? I have tried out many now, even the ones described with "good fps" or "high perf" but I've yet to see my FPS rise above 30. Most times this is followed by me ALT-F4-ing because I'm so annoyed by it.

    Is the game dumbed down?

Well yep that's a point taken. A thread listing medium to large issues by priority, nice2have etc. The bug tracker can get quite obscure at times. Question remains who would set the priorities and who maintains the thread. Will see if I can come up with something tomorrow. Although I have to find a new flat first. And no, it's no lame excuse :) .

    No women at all

You are continously derailing the thread and have showed no interest in the topic ("useless thread"). People have been given warnings for lesser actions in the past. If you think BIS is not clever enough to filter issues for their own business interests and have a priority map of their own, you're at quite a loss. edit: I stand corrected. Your latest answer is kinda a step in the opposite direction though.

    Is the game dumbed down?

There alot of valid tickets and issues out there which haven't be fixed at all. What makes you think these will be fixed in a timely fashion when they weren't even touched in the alpha phase? Having it your way, we stay silent, say a prayer to BIS and hope for the best. Sounds like a good plan.

    Is the game dumbed down?

It seems to me there are only one a few "whiny" persons in this thread, one of them being you. If this agitates you as much as told by your actions, why do stay in this thread?

    Is the game dumbed down?

Yeah, it is. I'll check it out again in a year, maybe with some mods.
