Hmm, are flight sims hard to learn? Â I remember someone giving me one when I was like 10. Â I couln't figure out how to install it. Â So I got one of my uncles to do it for me, but then I couln't figure out all the controles and all the buttons. Â But then again, I could never start the game. And then there was the manual which was really thick and full of complicated technical stuff that I had no clue as to what they meant. I dunno, I always imagined that it would take months of practice to learn to play. Â In a way to simulate real life. I'm thinking of buying one, but I've never played one before.

DF2 is SOOO much more realistic than OPF. I've been playing the campaigns and I am on the "power" something mission where I have to kidnappe the african terrorist officer by hijacking his boat before he leaves in a chopper. This is a tough mission. I cannot figure out how to beat it. I am amazed at how you hear the enemies start to scream when you attack their base, (Onga onga!! very realistic like. It seems to me that the game uses real african and arabic speakers for the enemies. I don't really remember that with OPF. I remember this awsesome mission that just fell into place very realistically without any scripts. I had to attack the african terrorist weapons making depot. I parachuted in (you can control your direction parachuting in with navigable parachutes in DF2) and managed to land right into the back of a boxtruck headed for the enemy base! That was not part of the plan, just something I thought to do. when the truck got into the fence of the base. The gaurds stop the trucks to check the contents. As soon as the gaurd came around to the back of the truck I was in, I blasted him. Then I switched to burst fire on my M4, and quickly jumped out blasting trying to quickly put down any advancing enemies. From there I went on and completed the mission. It's unscripted, unpredictable stuff like that that make the game awesome. The game is very realistic like that. And there are tons more. Also, this game has realistic loadout capasities. Number of magazines, M203 grenades. Anyways, even though DF2 is more realistic, I still think OPF is the best because the graphics are soo much better, and OPF has weapon views.

I like your avatar.

Yeah, I've been hoping that we would get a way to reply in a future patch. It seems so simple to fix and would make SOOOO much sense and would make a big difference to me. SOMEONE IN BIS PLEASE FIX THIS. Also, it would do a great deal of good in Multi Player when you want to organize your lost team in coop although I don't play multiplayer.

I was playing Medal of honor Allied Assault. I noticed that when using the tommy gun, MP40, or the M1 Garand, it takes alot of shots to kill an enemy soldier. I sometimes hit them with a burst of 5 shots and they double over like they are badly hurt, but then they start shooting at me again and I have to fire like another 1-2 shots to kill them. It amazes me sometimes how much it takes to bring a soldier down. Â I would think that just a 3 round spurt would be enough, but then again how would I know? There are some lucky occasians when I hit an enemy with like 2 or 3 shots that kills them. Â But generally I need to hit them with like 5-6 good shots to bring them down. Â All generally at close range. In OFP it generally took like 2-3 shots to kill enemies. Â Sometimes just 1 well placed one. That always seemed realistic to me. So are the gun killing damage true to real life? Â That is the only thing that is really bothering me with the game at the moment (and the lack of a weapon view too), but I am not sure if it is that far from realistic or not.

I was playing MOH AA, and got to the mission where you have to meet up with your tank crew. You need to find them in the city of snipers. It's a really bombed out little town perfect for snipers to find all sorts of places to hide. Whenever I advance, there is a great chance I will be shot by an unseen sniper. I find myself anxiously looking in all directions whenever I advance to keep on checking incase I have just slightly advanced into the enemies sights. Most of the time I don't see them as it is virtually impossible to spot them before they get a shot off. My question is what would real soldiers do in circumstances like this where snipers could be anywhere? Or is it generally accepted that you are dead meat.
-
Yeah, how are they supposed to see a persons heat when there is a blazing fire all around? I'd think EVERYTHING would be hot. Anyways, in MOH, I am up to the stage where we attack the bioweapons facility and free any POWs. How close am I to the end of the game? I hope not too close. I will need to buy another game before I end this one.

Well actually I got the idea of this thread from the game, but I really wanted to know what a real soldier would do in real life. The game is just a frame of reference, but still unrelated to the thread. In the game, I just quickly moved between cover and snuck up on the snipers by entering their buildings, or using vantage points or angles that they didn't expect me to come from. It felt alot like that sniper scene in Full Metal Jacket. You couln't see the sniper, you used your cover to sneak up on the spot where the gunshots were coming from. This game is really cool! Really well done! I just wished that the health/damage system was more realistic. It is with the sniper rifle and the silenced pistol, but not with any other gun. Anyways, the indoor firefights are the best. Some of the best outdoor battles were where you had the BAR rifle and were looking for that 6 barreled rocket launcher with your soldier friends. Now I'm on the mission where we attack the bioweapons facility from the train and free any POWs. DON'T tell me what happens or anything. Just tell me, am I getting close to the end of the game? I hope not. If so, I gotta go buy another game before this one ends.

You're telling me this game doesn't have a singleplayer campaign? How can a game not have a single player campaign? Â Even Tribes2 had a small single player campaign. Multiplayer is stupid. I like singleplayer because the AI can work as a team and use tactics and strategy.
-
Hmm, what is single player like? I don't really play multiplayer.
-
So um, does Day of defeate for HalfLife have a weapon iron sights view?
-
Yes it may be less boring and more "action packed", but I can't STAND that. Whenever I play a game, I mentally prepare myself like it would be a realistic fire fight and I strategize with that in mind. When I pop an enemy once or twice and he doesn't drop, that really throws me off. That's one of the great things about OFP, the realistic kills. If you shoot someone once or twice, they will pretty much just drop dead. I was hoping MOH would be realistic in that sense because realistic weapons models and damage is fundamental to a good realistic game. Â I still think it is a "good fun game", but the primary aspect that I look for in a game (realistic weapons and damage engine) was not there. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The only other game other that OFP that I have seen that is like that was SWAT3 (keep in mind I have not played many games). This is primarily what I look for in a tactical shooter game. Can anyone recommend any other games like this that I could buy? Â IceFire PS, By the way, what are BHD, and B20? Â I didn't understand those.
-
Wow that was fast. I figured part of it was due to the fact that the weapons back then were pretty inaccurate and therefore some of the bullets missed at long range. Anyways, is there a way to increase the gun damages or decrease the human durability to a more realistic level?

Hi, I was wondering when OFP GOTY edition was going to be released in India/Asia. I am visiting my folks who are stationed here at the embassy in New Deli, and it is not out yet here. Do any of you CM or BIS people know? Also, will it be the american version, or some other asian/indian version? I use the 3dactionplanet/flashpoint site to download my patches, and I will bring this game back home when come back home. I don't want to have to buy another GOTY edition for use in the US. Thanx IceFire
-
What's their email? Oh, and can anyone reccomend any other good games out already? I need something to kill the boredom. So far I have been stuck here playing "SkiFree" and "astroids" from a "200 Games" Cd that I found in a drawer. Any good FPS shooters.
-
Alright, if noone knows, can someone tell me who I could email to find out? I have been waiting for it to come out for some time back in the US.
-
It's a nice idea, but it would get misused alot. I can imagine alot of players doing it just for the thrill of hearing enemy soldiers walk by not noticing, and being all sneaky. It would completely ruin the principle strategy of the game. See the enemy soldier, kill the enemy soldier. With this, you would have to worry about all sorts of other things. Do all the dead look right, etc...
-
Hi, does anyone know when the GOTY comes out? And if it will be patched up to the finally perfect 1.90 patch? I was reading the 1.90 buglist, and it seems as if all the old bugs are pretty much taken care of. If that is true, it would be a good idea to stop making new patches and risk ruining the game again, and to finally release the GOTY edition with the 1.90.
-
Grrr, it seems the GOTY edition isn't out yet here. I will prolly still have to wait a week before it comes out. Anyone know where I can download the OPF or Resistence demos without having to become a member of some kind like at that gamespy site? I want SOMETING to play while I wait. The demos might help to hold off this like 6 month OFP withdrawal that I am having.
-
Yeah that's what I'm probably going to do since the internet in her office is really speedy. Can the download of the 1.90 patch fit onto a floppy disk? What about a zip disk? I'm not sure about how to burn things onto CD's.
-
Ok, apparently my computer isn't that badly damaged. Just my speakers are finished so I am borrowing my sisters headphones. I am going to buy the GOTY edition today if I can find it. But due to our bad internet connection here, I won't be able to download the patch until I get back home in the states. Is version 1.85 really that bad? Or should I wait til I get back home to buy it?

I got this idea from that other thread here. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good realistic tactical movies with good realistic gunfights. I mean real tactics, and real gun physics. Something with the military, or maybe SWAT team. I once heard of this one low budget move called "Renegade force" or something like that. I heard it is very realistic from people who are in SWAT or the military themselves. It's about a SWAT team that decides to take the law into their own hands and start taking out the bad guys. Eventually an FBI HRT team is deployed to stop them. The movie was made to be a realistic tactical movie. It shows the teams setting up, clearing rooms, and realistic gun fights where tactics and team positioning is like in real life. Although I can't seem to find this movie, does anyone happen to know about movies like this?

I don't know why so many people are talking about OPF2. I mean, when something is so good, why fix it? OFP is a gem. A rare one. Hard to replace. Generally when a game company comes out with a really good game, it's hard to beat. And then the sequel is just a slop of lazy over commercialized glittery mess. They see that the first one was hugely popular, and then they hugely market the next one dumbing it down for the public and making all pop cultury. Look at Aliens V pred, the first was really good like in the movies. The second was a huge project that was quake style gaming. Or look. They are still coming out with Duke forever, HalfLife2. My point is I don't think OFP2 will be nearly as good as OFP1.

Well it doesn't matter anyhow now.  I havn't played the game in like 6 months due to my cousin losing the CD a while back.  I Was all excited, was gonna go out to buy the GOTY edition tonight as soon as I heard it was out so I could finally play again, and finally try out resistence and red hammer for the first time.  Right before I leave to go out and get it, the damn plumbing busts flooding my room completely destroying my top of the line pentium 4, lots of gigahurts computer.       Fucking 3rd world plumbing. Should have never brought my comp with me Â

DAMMIT! Well then is there a way for me to have it so that my game CD will always be updated to 1.90 so that when I delete and reinstall the game, it will be at 1.90?? I really don't want to have to keep on downloading the patch. Also, one last question. My mom works for the State Dept and is currently stationed in New Deli India. I am visiting her here. Â If I buy the GOTY edition here. Â Will it be compatible with my computer? Â Or will it even be the same version as the American version? Or should I wait til I get back home?
