While I may still not buy that immediately considering I might way for a later version to come out with any bugs fixed. Anyways, feel free to post suggestions.

Hmm, whenever I do that it works out fine as they actually throw it where I want them to. As for clearing rooms. Try using "breach, flashbang(or nade),and clear on ZULU". If they still drop the frags right at their feet, then maybe you have a bug.

Cool, how much will that cost?

Its about an alien/aliens that turn into people. Thats the whole theme of the game.<span id='postcolor'> Yes, but it looks like it's done on a realistic, credible level. Not fantasy or science fiction or anything, but a hypothetical possibility in real life. At least from the graphics I saw on the box, it seemed that way. I don't know. I just looked at the box and thought it looked like a good combat sim of some kind.

Yeah, I really like First person TACTICAL games. I like OPF because it requires First person tactical strategy on a grand-war like scale, on a SOLDIER scale. I also like games like Raven Shield, SWAT3. Any First person view games that require cunning, and skill. Not games like Doom, or stupid games where you have a HEALTH system from 100 points on down. But they must be realistic too. Realistic damage, tactics etc. I guess I wouln't mind these RTS type games like WarCraft2. But I really don't like them when they are "SCIENCE FICTIONY" like that StarCraft game. I mean, real world war combat is ok, but aliens? Basically I like to think of games as if they WERE reality. And base my tactics off them accordingly.

COLINMAN, I've never had ANY problems with my AI men clearing rooms. They seem to do it exceptionally well. With flashbangs, or grenades ... etc.
-
Oh, and more about that letting the AI do it as you sit back. You CAN do more. Learn how to properly use the waypoints. There isn't much you can't direct your teams to do using waypoints in the mission planning that you can't do in the actual game. After that, you can just watch the whole mission go down in "Observer" mode, or you could get into the game, while the other teams are doing all their waypoints. I think it's exactly what you are looking for. I once completed a complicated Hostage rescue all by using waypoints from the planning phase. All I had to do was sit and watch the action unfold as my teams went off. I only did that as once to see how good it was. Personally I wouln't really use that "Observer mode" feature because it's unrealistic. But it's a great way to see if your waypoints plan is sound as you don't do anything.
-
I don't think anything like that exists. Would be very cool though. You would be on your regular shift, and things would happen/unfold and you would have to respond.
-
I don't know about the sandwich part, but you can tell your men to breach and clear a room. You can order them to move wherever and they will clear that area for you. You can hangback and let them do the clearing if that's what you mean. You hold down spacebar on a door to a room you want them to clear and it will bring up the IN GAME COMMAND MENU(Also by clicking on the ingame menu with your right mouse button instead of left, it will make them do it on a ZULU command). And you can just click on a spot on the ground you want them to move to and they will clear it.

I would just like to see a bit more intuition from the AI guys. This menu layout is fine, i'm just saying have more options.<span id='postcolor'> So you're saying 2 different things? First you state you want your men to be more independant and do things on their own. That would mean them doing things without you giving them orders, thus meaning you wouln't need the command menu anyways. Then you state you want more options for the command menu. Those 2 things you said contradict eachother. Maybe I am just not understanding. Plus, in SWAT3, your men don't really go out and do things on their own. They certainly don't breach and clear rooms without you telling them to do so, and I would think for good reason. You are the commanding officer, and it is up to YOU to determine how you want to approach the mission, not the AI.
-
Jinef, Why would you want the SWAT3 type menu?? You can do everything in the game and make all the commands that you can in SWAT3, AND it's easier, and faster. I don't see why you would want to make it less better with the SWAT3 command menu.

I havn't begun the Resistence Campaign yet. This is because I like to do everything in order. And because I play the game at a lazy slow pace. See, I already beat the CWC campaign when I had just CWC. But then I uninstalled that and installed GOTY. Now I am playing through the CWC campaign again, then I will start on RedHammer, then when all that is finished, I will start on Resistence. So far it has been 2 months, and I am at the mission where I am helping the Resistence fighters rescue the civilians from the town. I've been on this mission for about a week.

I was curious about an aspect of OPF, and wanted your opinion. I was recently playing the single player mission called "Convoy"(on veteran mode, I NEVER play on cadet mode). It was the first time I had played it. I normally avoid it because it looked like a dumb, boring mission. But after playing it, I realized that this mission was VERY well done. I truly felt like everything was happening in a dynamic, almost random style which resulted from your actions. And it didn't feel like the makers put in extra "leeway" in that allows you certain ways of winning the mission. It was like, "Oh shit, the mission has gone to hell. Let's see how we scrape ourselves up and get out of this alive". We were attacked, half of everyone got killed. I got command of like 8 men, we retreated(barely avoiding getting killed), ... etc. Things happened fast, and hectic. I managed to scrape enough resources for a somewhat decent defense of the town. Then as attacks began, choppers, etc, ... I had to quickly bark out orders to the men could properly defend against the attacl .... etc. The point is, when the whole thing happened the first time, it felt real. Like I had to think on my feet and react in a split second, figure out what was going on, and what to do, or risk getting killed. But once you die, and play it again, the same thing happens. It doesn't feel right when you die, and then you do the SAME thing over, and you start to "preplan" for certain occasions. Like you know what's coming up, and you "preact" accordingly. This is the one main aspect that ruins the feeling of it being "real" for me. What about you? What can be done about this?

Ok, some new questions. Here's what I need to figure out to do. 1) Â I am placing several Russian patrols in an area. Â What I want to happen is if ANY of the Russian units sees, and engages a western unit, the surrounding( in about 100 yards around the area where western unit was sighted/engaged) Russian units will move in to help engage any Western units. Is that possible? And another unrelated question. 2) A singular western unit will be running in a direction. Â Other squads will be moving in a direction(or just standing static) that may cross paths with the first singular western unit. If for example "squad A" encounters the singular unit, the squad A leader will "join and lead" the singular unit, and then they will all move to a specific location on the map called "Location A". Â If the singular unit, and "squad A" do NOT encounter eachother, the singular unit will continue to move on to "Location A". and "squad A" will move to another location, and then continue on to "Location A". There are OTHER squads around. Â If "squad B" encounters "singular western unit", the squad will take command of singular unit, and then proceed to "Location A" just as "squad A" would. There will also be squad C and D. Â All the same thing. If any squad does enounter and "joins and leads" singular unit. Â All other squads immediately change course or start moving on to "Location A". If singular western unit makes it to "Location A" alone, all other squads will immediately start to move to "Location A" as soon as "singular western unit" gets to "Location A". Is this possible? What would I have to do? So far I have a good basic knowledge of how to use waypoints, "move", "join and lead", etc.. Â Â And I know how to use triggers, and how to sync triggers to waypoints, how to sync waypoints. But I am still new to creating my own missions. If all that I said is possible, is there anything I should look up to learn how to do it(if it's all too complicated to explain here) My guess is I would have to create multiple triggers, each one negating and/or activating other triggers. But again, I don't even know if THAT is possible. Â I imagine that it might be. By the way, mods, you can delete my last post in my last thread. Â I decided to just make it its own thread.

Ok, sorry about this last question. But regarding your big "script". How do I do it? I don't know how to make scripts. Where do I put it?

Ok, I just tested the "Gaurd" waypoint in the editor. It works good. Now all I need is a way to make patrolling units behave like this gaurd command. So that when someone nearby fights an enemy, they go to join in or help. Oh, and a way to do it so that they DONT return to their original GAURD waypoint when the threat is gone. They should stick to the area of the last seen enemy. That's kindof an important detail.(If it's possible)
-
Thanks all. This should help. Will be back if I have any more questions. Oh, and as for the "gaurd" waypoint;  How does that work?  I mean, within a radius of what distance will the respond to an enemy? And can I have units running on patrol with a "gaurd" waypoints instead of "move" to get them to react to any sighted units in the area? Also, one last question regarding the "gaurd" waypoint I promise.  Suppose, a units spots an enemy 100 yards away.  Would the gaurd actually "chase" following the enemy even all the way across the island?(assuming the enemy even managed to run that far without getting shot) Maybe it would help if I described  in more detail what I'm trying to do as long as you promise not to tell people about my mission idea. I'm doing a mission with an Escape and Evasion part.  A singular unit(player) will be deep in enemy territory(after ejecting from his plane after doing a recon flight), and will be trying to get out alive. The enemy base knowing that you are somewhere there, has sent out many additional patrols and extra gaurd units around to try to catch and kill you before he escapes. I want to simulate the unit trying to escape with many enemy forces on his tail(if you're not careful) The player will have to be swift and careful.  Enemies are everywhere, and if you are out somewhere that looks isolated and even one or 2 enemies see you, you can expect MUCH more enemy reinforcements coming in to find you.  This is because the enemy unit that saw you probably reported in seeing an American as they engaged you. Which would be a good reason for,  if you were compromised you would have to shoot fast, and get out of there fast.  Or you will have to kill them before they know you are there. US headquarters recieved your distress call and last location before you bailed and have dispatched a SEAL team consisting of 4 groups of men out to find you and bring you back to the extraction point. Before bailing out, you got a radio message telling you to try to get to a certain location in case they managed to get a rescue team in there. You can try to make it to the extracion spot on your own, or you might run into the SEAL team as they come in looking for you.  If you make it to the rescue zone alone(consisting of the extraction chopper with machinegunner codenamed blackwidow) they will radio to the SEAL team to get back, and that they have you. So now you know.  Also please noone steal my idea. Thanks. Â

Anyone remember the thread ALONG ago about someone shaving their ass, and in the end it turned out all wrong. I think the thread starter was that moo cow person.
