The game is very realistic.  Sometimes they will see you, sometimes they wont. It depends on how well hidden you are, how much noise you are making  etc ... As for something "original".  Well you mean as "original" as the Vietnam war?? The game is supposed to depict the war.  What else do you want?   I think it does a very good job of doing that realistically.

Are you kidding?? This game kicks ass! I have been playing in the first demo mission where you have to kill the NVA officer and find any documents in the village. Talk about excellent graphics and immersion. Â Not to mention realism. I got to the riverbank. Â How well done was that?? Â Beautiful graphics. If you are bold enough to wade into the stream, it feels so real. Â Like you imagine that there is an enemy waiting on the opposite end was just ready to pop you. I was crawling through the grass along the river bank. Â Being very cautious. Â Making sure never to expose myself. Â Whenever I got even an inkling of a feeling that there might be an enemy nearby on the opposite riverbank I would pull out my sniper rifle and look through the score thoroughly scanning through the foliage and behind any rocks on the waters edge. If I would spot something even remotely that looks like a human body I would make sure I was well conceiled, and fire a shot through the plants and shrubbery. Â Â Normally when moving through the dense foliage, it's hard to see very far, so I held an AK that I picked up off an enemy I killed. Â An AK is good for that cause it fires in full auto and packes a punch at close range. Â Great incase you are ambushed. I remember approaching some rocks, I saw a gaurd post just a little down the river. Â I pulled out my Sniper and just made out the gaurd's head through some trees. Â Bam, he went down. Â But as soon as I fired I heard enemies yelling along the opposite bank, they spotted me and my man who was with me. I immediately switch to my AK. Â I don't see them exacty since they were a bit away, but they were shooting at us and bullets were whizzing right past us, and I could see their muzzle flashes, so I fired back in their directions at their muzzle flashes. Â I managed to take out 2 of them as they were attacking. Â My man managed to take out a few himself. After that, it all seemed calm. Â We advanced til we got in better range of that gaurd station I sniped. Â I gave my man my snipe and told him to stay a bit back to cover me as I crawled forward to check out what I had earlier killed. As I got close I figured the area was clear and decided to stand up(kindof squatting) in the open with no cover. Â Bad move. Â There were like 6 enemies nearby who spotted me. Â They started screaming and started rushing at us. Â I hit the dirt and we started firing on them as they approached. Â The most awesome part about that was that the enemy vietnamese were running towards us spashing through the water as they were crossing the river running up the bank were we were. I think we managed to take out a total of like 2. Â But there were to many of them and they killed us both. The graphics in this game are excellent, very crisp and makes for a very immersive experience.

You said you grabbed a law. A law has only 3 rounds. You said you shot a BMP first. Â Ok, BMP takes only 1 law round. Then you said you took out another BMP. Â Ok, so now you have one law left. So now you take out a hind with 1 law?? Â Generally it takes 2 to drop it. Â But if you say you got lucky and you knocked it to the ground I'll believe you. Â Ok so you got lucky. But the thing is laws have only 3 rounds. Â So how you managed to take out all the other enemy armor you mentioned is beyond me. I mean t72 tanks are no BMPs. Â They are tough. Â It takes atleast 3-4 shots with a law to take them out.

Ok, I just finished playing the game tutorial and I am VERY impressed.(And that is just the training tutorial that teaches you how to use the weapons!! I have yet to play the actual game, but here are some thoughts. Pros: Â The graphics are top of the line. Â Not just the characters, but the environment. Â It's incredibly immersive. Â This is real grass that you can hide in, and plenty of vegetation, logs, creeks to move around in about and hide in. Â Very detailed with a very real feel. Â I actually felt like I was in Vietnam during the war. Inventory/Gear; One of the things I don't like about Operation Flashpoint is that you carry very little gear. Â In real life soldiers carry tons of gear with them. Â Several spare mags, grenades, exposives, medicine, extra rifles.. Â etc. It's the same in the game, you can carry tons of gear to keep you lasting out in the field. Â You can carry only a maximum amount of weight. Â It feels good in the game being able to carry spare rifles, magazines, medicine, grenades C4, claymores ... Â This coupled with the fact that you have a squad under your command, and you can have alot of gear at your disposal. Â I have one man being the medic, another being an ammo carrier, the others being weapons support, machine gunners etc .. Realism, something I LOVE the most about this game so far. Â Â You can crawl prone, crouch, walk, run, hide in bushes. Â You can choose completely realistic mode, or arcade mode. Â So you have realistic damage models, or not. Â So far, this game is extremely realistic. Immersion, the sounds, graphics, and machine gun fire gives this game a very realistic feel. Â And the enemy speaks real Vietnamese. Â It's very suspensful when you are sneaking around in some tall grass, and you hear some enemy nearby. Â You accidentially crunch a twig that makes a snapping noise, and then you can hear the enemy talk or say something like they heard something. Â They might become more alert. I love the grenades. Â it feels really realistic when you throw them, you can hear them bouncing before they explode. Be careful when you are walking around, you may walk on a tripwire. Â These are incredibly well done. Â If you are on your belly crawling around, and see a tripwire ahead, it's very realistic. Â You can see the sun gleaning off the wire, you can see one end of the wire tied to a twig and the other end attached to a frag grenade. Here are some Cons: Weapons accuracy: Â This is a pretty realistic game. But they screwed up in a few aspects. Â For one the weapons/rifles are a bit inaccurate. Â No Iron Sights: Â I HATE games without iron sights. Â It's just soo unrealistic. Â I can't stand that. That's it for now. Â I recommend that you try the game. Â It's very realistic.

Well I am. Now how about that DireectX 9?

It's a brand new Vietnam game where you play a Sniper who is tasked with taking out enemies. You can use the thick foliage as cover. You can fire down into valleys. It is a great realistic Vietnam sniper game.

I dunno. Some people here said it might.

Well it sounds like we're winning!! Yay!!

I get the same thing. Only the crosshairs are not high. The bullet always hits to the left of the crosshairs. And crosshairs ARE realistic. The iron sights are simulating firing from iron sights with the weapon up. The cross hairs are simulating firing from the hip. So how is this not realistic?

I dunno. I have the GOTY edition.

I am on playing the CWC campaign with version 1.90 Anyways, I am on the "interdiction" mission where you are a black op who has to destroy several russian tanks. What I did was I killed alot of infantry, and stole their weapons. I stored their weapons in the spot where those rocket soldiers are posted. Then I saved the game. Upon loading it, I tried to find a Dragunov that I stashed there. I looked everywhere, and it I could not see it. Â I walked to where I put it, and in my action menu, it said "Take Dragunov". I did. Â Â Then it looked as if I picked up a gun, but the gun was invisible. I could see my cross hairs, plus the little dot that tells you where your bullet will land. I tried using the scope and it didn't let me. I fired, and I could see the cartrige being ejected, and it made the sound of the dragunov, but the gun was invisible. Then I went over to where I stashed some RPG rockets. Same thing. Â I could not see it, but I picked it up. It was invisible, and I could not scope it. I used the reticule to aim at a tank below on the road. I fired. Â I heard the sound, but there was no explosion or sound of the rocket hitting the tank or the ground or anything. What is this? Â Please help.
