Yeah, but that picture in my link of that "military dolphin" jumping sure was cool.

Here is a link. http://www.msnbc.com/news/890520_asp.htm

Not only that, the U.S. Navy is now training dolphins to locate and tag mines in the waters off Irak. I just read an article on it in MSN.com with some cool pictures.

Shooting flares or firing weapons, leaving dead enemy bodies behind (ever wonder what the "HIDE BODY" command of the Spec Ops units was for?) etc. are all bad. However, mission designers can also use triggers in their scripts that are set off when an enemy unit is present within a given area, even if the AI hasn't detected the enemy yet. This is often used to sound alarms or initiate vehicle / unit movement.<span id='postcolor'> Ok, you mentioned "Hide body" as a way of preventing detection. That seems wierd to me because I have killed enemies on roads, and other passing patrols later walked right past the body and did not react. Also, why would they make it so that the alarm would be sounded even when the actual AI enemy hasn't detected you yet? That seems really unfair. If I am doing a really good job sneaking in an enemy base and the alarm sounded even though noone saw me. Also, in the mission Interdiction, why do the enemy sometimes fire those flares? Is it because they suspected me? Or heard something?

I don't think Isreal should have to do that. Plus, if they don't what can we do about it? Isreal already has such little land anyways compared to all the arab countries surrounding it. Anyways, let this thread die. It's been here too long now. This is an old thread.

I am on playing the CWC campaign with version 1.90 Anyways, I am on the "interdiction" mission where you are a black op who has to destroy several russian tanks. What I did was I killed alot of infantry, and stole their weapons. I stored their weapons in the spot where those rocket soldiers are posted. Then I saved the game. Upon loading it, I tried to find a Dragunov that I stashed there. I looked everywhere, and it I could not see it. Â I walked to where I put it, and in my action menu, it said "Take Dragunov". I did. Â Â Then it looked as if I picked up a gun, but the gun was invisible. I could see my cross hairs, plus the little dot that tells you where your bullet will land. I tried using the scope and it didn't let me. I fired, and I could see the cartrige being ejected, and it made the sound of the dragunov, but the gun was invisible. Then I went over to where I stashed some RPG rockets. Same thing. Â I could not see it, but I picked it up. It was invisible, and I could not scope it. I used the reticule to aim at a tank below on the road. I fired. Â I heard the sound, but there was no explosion or sound of the rocket hitting the tank or the ground or anything. What is this? Â Please help.

No, I'll try that now.

Yeah, I guess he just edited it to add the spoiler warning.

You idiot! Next time give some heads up when you are going to post a spoiler. I havn't played Resistence yet and was looking forward to it. Everyone talks about how great it is and how great the ending is. Now you ruined the ending for me. I hope you're happy.

I'd say the same thing if this had been Canadians accidentally killing americans. Oh.. I forgot.. we dont kill our allies by accident that often. <span id='postcolor'> If when you say "spin" you really mean looking at things from a realistic angle, then yes. "But the simple facts are, these pilots over reacted and four candians died as a result.  And that deserves more than a slap on the wrist." Where did you get these simple facts from?  The fact about who is at fault is still in debate. I think all that really should be done is that the pilots be given professional counseling to help them deal with their guilt(the poor fellows  . I feel bad for them)so that they may one day return to the skies defending our United States.

I think it's exactly this syndrome that makes everyone want to sue everyone these days.

That's what's wrong with our society these days. If something goes wrong, everyone wants to see that SOMEONE is found responsible, it doesn't matter who as long as justice is exacted with vengeance. People cannot accept that sometimes accidents happen, and that the best thing to do is accept it and move on. People always need to feel that SOMEONE must be found responsible. Therefore forcing people working in the justice system to prosecute someone no matter what, just because the stupid masses need to see someone held accountable.

Hi I'm IceFire, Have any of you played this game? I havn't. How is it? They say you need DirectX 9. Should I get DirectX9? Will it mess up my computer?

Yeah, but the idea was even if you don't necessarily hit all the enemies, you put them under pressure and fire enough heat at them. Â They could get disorganized, retreat, scatter, etc .. And me, I do hit alot of enemies this way in Line of Sight. Â Sometimes I get nailed, but that's the way it would work in real life too. Also, it's important to remember the right times to be laying prone stealthily picking off enemies that you see, and be standing up, moving, maneuvering, and taking out enemies as fast as you can. In the game, sometimes when we come under heavy fire, I stand up and run up to some boulders and return fire from there using the large rocks as cover. Â I can see the enemy much better, and can put them down faster before they advance all over us. Â And I can easily lob grenades at them from my position.(It really feels like you are in some heavy jungle combat) I did this when I was in visual range of the camp. Â I was right up next to a large rock, and we managed to take out all the advancing enemies. Â Thanks alot to me lobbing many grenades in their direction. Â Enemies started to come at us from the opposite river bank. Â That was tough because they were alot farther away. Â We put them down with our rifles. I stood there waiting, and looked farther down the river toward the village about 50 yards down. Â The river bent left along a beach along the front of the village facing the water. I noticed some more enemy vietcong moving along the beach among some villagers. Â I pulled out my M21 sniper rifle and picked one off. Â The rest started rushing into the water towards us,(the water isn't that deep, only about a few feet deep, about waist level) Â As they got closer to us on the waters edge I shot at them. Â It's neat when you hit them, and they immediately fall into the water.

"I don't know about you, but I can't aim at just a noise." Yeah, that's the thing about the Vietnam war, and jungle combat in general. Half the time you don't even see the enemy. In the Vietnam war, most soldiers would engage the enemy not even seeing them. The best they did was return fire on their muzzle flashes or in the general direction that the enemy fire is coming from. That's the height of realism. In the vietnam war, when soldiers were ambushed, they would spray fire into the bushes and spots where they thought the vietnamese enemies were hidden, or where they spotted movement. Sometimes returning fire only on a machinegun that was setup with a tripwire to make it shoot, or they would wind up killing some animal. Most soldiers are therfore trained to fire on noises, and the "sounds" of the enemy since visual detection is less common.

Good good, your problem is solved, now we can get back to the topid of MY thread. Feel free to discuss people.
