While it is not directly in violation of forum rules, it is in very bad taste. I told you not to post stuff like that after you posted the "Something Awful" link with pictures. Continuation of doing so is indeed a violation of the board rules §1.3. I did you a favour by not banning you for posting a crude pornographic image (by hotlinking a somethingawful image), so please do me a favour and restrain yourself from making jokes like the spatula one. <span id='postcolor'> I dunno, I found it to be quite tastful and quite funny. Good one DieAlive!

Ok, I just checked the rules, nothing about discussing other games. I think I'm paranoid about rules now. Unfortunately it won't let me post again in my other screwed up thread. I downloaded the SP demo of Raven Shield. So far I think it's an AWESOME CQB CT game. INCREDIBLY realistic. With a very realistic damage system. Not to mention your AI men is very good. They automatically cover possible danger zones. And they automatically conform their covering zones to the "shape" of the area you are in. Like if you are in a hallway or corridor, they will cover the ends. If you are in a large room with many nooks and crannies where enemies can pop out from everywhere, your AI men will change the areas of what they are covering. So far, VERY good. What do you think?

Then do some serious research on what you want to do. Movies and video games have a tendancy to make kids want to be Special Forces and then they join up and try and wash out real fast because they had no IDEA what it was really all about. There are probably alot of books on SEAL selection and what it's really like. Read as many of these types of books as you possibly can. The internet is a much less reliable source of informations for these kinds of things. Go down to your nearest Barnes and Nobles book store and go to the "military" section or in "miltary history". There will be ALOT of books on Navy SEALs, Army Special Forces, Delta, Rangers or any Special Operations Unit imaginable. Read as much of them as you can. Learn what happens in Special Ops selection. Find out if military is something you really want to do. LOTS of people wind up joining and realising that it was not what they thought it would be like. There are also several programs on the Discovery channel about miltary things such as these. As for Delta. There is much less information out on this unit as they are the most secretive. Basically learn as much as you possibly can about all of this. Talk to current and ex military men. Especially men from combat units such as the ones you are looking to join. In the end it will be up to you to do the research necessary. There is alot of information out there. All you have to do is go through it.

I've heard of them.  Always wanted to try them.<span id='postcolor'> You'd need a time machine to try C Rations.  Since I think they stopped making them during the Korean War sometime I dont think my assesment is off much.  I am not saying 'American' food is bad, I am just saying that we dont have a culture of cuisine like most nations.  I wasnt being insulting, just saying that what a north american person thinks of as 'good' is not always what somone from another nation sees as good.  See the difference? edit: My bad. Vietnam  If you want to see some decent 'candid' photography from the early Vietnam War, check out the other pics on that sit.  This guy wrote one of the best books about Vietnam that I have ever read.  He was also one of the pilots flying in and out of 'LZ X-Ray' in the book and movie 'We Were Soldiers'<span id='postcolor'> No no, you assesment IS wrong. We may not have a cuisine culture like the French do. But other than that we appreciate good food like anyone else if not even MORE SO. Plus you're British, right? Well maybe that's why you think our food is bad. You're used to british food wich is terrible in comparison to any American food(not fast food or frozen food but REAL American food).

Oh, and by the way, what are C-rats? I've heard of them. Always wanted to try them.

Warin, I don't know what you're talking about. I don't think I have bad taste. In fact I have quite good taste when it comes to cuisine. But I still really just understand what you mean. I eat food like any other American youth. What's so bad about it? I mean I know it's not French cuisine which I find to be the best I've yet to eat. But what's wrong with roasted chicken casserole? Or mashed potatoes mixed with melted cheddar? How is American food really that bad? I'm not talking about FROZEN FOOD or FAST FOOD which are both quite sucky. But in general I think American cuisine isn't bad. And it certainly doensn't consist of just frozen meals. One of my favorite dishes that my mom makes is pasta(take about a handful using both hands from the bag), boil it til soft, strain it, mixed with a can of cream of chicken soup, with like a quarter a teaspoon of old bay, a pinch of salt and pepper, with about half a breast of rotissery chicken chunks mixed in. Frikkin excellent. How is that bad?? Maybe you should just admit that your theory of why American kids like MREs is inaccurate.

Never tried government issue ones. Would like to, but wouln't know where to get them. But I do beleive that both have equal number of calories and are therefore equally effective. But that cookie you mentioned in that first MRE type, the Chocolate-covered cookies are really good. I don't think I've eaten such cood tasting cookies before.
-
Yes they are quite filling. Each pack has about 1000 calories. That's great. They also cost approximately 7 dollars per MRE. Some of those frozen meals such as Hungry man and the like can be about 5 dollars. And I have to eat like 3 of THEM to be full. So from now on, no more frozen meals, just MREs for me.
-
Yeah, me too. A few times I went and bought some MREs at a military surplus store. They were quite good. Atleast I thought so. Don't know why all these military folks say that they're bad. There was this chololate cooky that was in it, very tasty. And then there was a peice of buttery thick bread. Quite tasty also. It was a beef stew pack, with apple(or some fruit like that) slices as a side. It was pretty good I say. It was an American MRE. If all these miltary folks claim American MREs are bad, I wonder how tasty French MREs must be. But

Ok, with all the recent talk recently about different military organizations I have been doing some research on them anyhow. I managed to find a really interesting French Foreign Legion site. It's mostly a photo album of the French Foreign Legion. They are color and taken recently as these seem to be VERY modern looking soldiers. Anyhow there is this one picture of this guy with weird flakes on his face. Is this a disease, or camoflauge, or just something growing on his face after spending too much time out in the jungle. http://membres.lycos.fr/viriatorix/ Click on photos, it's the beret right UNDER the word photos. You will see a bunch of photo categories scrolling along the top of this page.(Note the photograph of the legionnares marching carrying donkeys on their backs on the this page) Click training. Â It has a picture of Legionnaires rappeling up a cliff during some commando training. Click "next" 4 times over to see the pic I am talking about. Anyways, this is a pretty cool photo site about the French Foreign Legion. Â It claims to have 1,200 pics on the Legion. Figured some of you might find this interesting.

Yeah, I thought that was interesting. Legionnaires carry donkeys on their backs during training! Unbelievable.

Hi all, I'm IceFire I am going to be moving soon, and probably changing internet services. Right now I have Comcast cable. Â It gives me cable internet plus cable TV for about 19 a month. Â That's a special deal. Â It would go up later anyhow. Also, I live in a huge apartment building, we even have our own reception desk on the ground floor, gym, swimming pool, dry cleaning service, convience store in our building. Â The point is the place has MANY people. Â A small community that may also be sharing the Cable internet. I shal be moving into a normal sized apartment building with about 7 apartments in it. I am thinking about having DSL cable for my next apartment. Â The only reason is that the internet may be cheaper. I want to know, how much faster/slower will it be? Â If you want to know how fast my internet is now, I'd say pretty fast. Â I don't know for sure. Â If you need to know this information, please tell me how to find out so I can tell you. Thanks IceFire

Actually I'm not sure since I am not military, but I think you can get into Delta Force after you are a SEAL. It's not true that Delta is just US Army. Members of any US Armed service can go Delta and retain their Service membership I believe. But then again I'm not sure. As for excercise, I think pretty much running is the main thing. You should be able to do ALOT of pushups and situps and pullups too. But running is the main excercise and endurance test of miltary organizations around the globe. Gradually develop the ability to run as far and as long as possible. And as for taking pain and discomfort. You should be mentally prepared for that later on. The only main thing you should be prepared about after being physically fit is being willing to KEEP ON GOING NO MATTER WHAT. Will power and determination is the only real thing that will get you through. That's what they say. No matter what happens, NEVER QUIT. If you do that you will probably LEARN to get used to pain and discomfort during training. Don't worry about that now, the instructors should have that in mind for you and will make sure you learn it their way. Again, I'm not military. So take me with a grain of salt. Just saying what I heard from military folks.
-
Basically my question is quite simple. I want to get DSL instead of cable for the prime reason that it would probably be cheaper. I just don't want my internet to be too slow.
-
You mean what my connection speed is? I don't know any of that. All I know is it is cable internet, and pretty fast. On Americas Army, my average ping is about 70-80. Lows are about 30. Highs are about 150. I can download most things pretty fast too. Not extremely fast, but you know, fast in a general sort of way.
-
I think that's pretty accurate. And why is he a "noob"? Doesn't that word mean someone who doesn't know how to play video games? Ocourse he is then, he is a journalist, not a video game player! It's all true. Though I'm not sure about what he says about the average number of games most people buy. He said something like 6 a year. That has to be BS. I have only bought like 9 games in my LIFE. SWAT3, HalfLife, Tribes2, Operation Flashpoint GOTY, Aleins Versus Predator, Medal of Honor, Theif2, Delta Force2, Red Faction. Soon should be Raven Shield and Line of Sight. Maybe if I remember to get it one of these days.
-
The reason you might not be able to find it is because you might have been looking for the regular size game boxes. GOTY comes in these tiny little boxes. The front of the box completely comes off the bottom of the box. Kind of like the cardboard box of those puzzles that you put together to make a picture.(they're made up of these little pieces that you put together, no 2 pieces go together. You have to match the right matching pieces together by looking at the portion of the picture on one piece and comparing that to the picture on the cover)
-
Hehe, Ofcourse that last paragraph you said makes no sense to me. That is normal. I think I'll just wait a year or 2 and then buy the best possible computer on the market and THEN start playing Resistence on IT.
-
Wow, does anyone have pics? How much would the TOTAL cost for me to buy a computer with everything needed that could play the game on MAXXED out settings and play perfectly smoothly in singleplayer and online?
-
Wow, and I thought I KNEW what this games graphics are like. Where did you get that gun? I've never seen it before in this game.
