I live in Maryland and I don't think I've ever seen any cicadas. Although I think they are the same thing as LOCUSTS. I remember seeing locusts. And Red Oct and Bnorgway, what a terrible attitude you have toward dogs. Rottwielers are very nice loving dogs. You just have alot of morons who want to have a "mean" dog and beat them to make them tough. That's why you have all these maulings. Both German Shepards and Rottweilers are good, stable breeds of dogs. But I have seen idiots saying they want mean dogs, and slap them around all the time. Don't blame the dog, blame the owner.

I have seen on other forums for games like Tribes2 that there are special nights in which all the members of a forum get together in a password locked server and play. So for example if this happened every Tuesday, every tuesday someone(the organiser) would post the password and time on these boards for the game that day. It would be a forum regular only game where everyone would be able to trust eachothers honesty and intelligence and friendliness and familiarity. It could be called something simple, like "OPF forum member night!". And it could be held on a certain day everyweek. Like Tuesday or Sunday. What do you think?

Maybe that´s why: From a non-forum member... I see it that way. People are free to choose. If they choose to join us on sunday and wednesday I´m happy with it. If we have fun while playing coops that´s all that counts. Everyone is welcome. CiA server is open for anyone with a coop heart and no Rambo attitude. I´m sorry I didn´t make it yesterday . My Comp opposed my plans and sent me into a graphical nirwana. I tought him some lessons today, including ripping his drivers apart and now I´m slowly getting close to "regular" performance  Hope everything  will work on wednesday. Otherwise I will have to do my first XP brain - surgery  Balshiow, if that's what you are going on. Well it's not much. Blackdog didn't give me notice that he would message you. That's between you and blackdog. And Llauma, as for the name. It's simply the name of the game. "Official" is simply to seperate it from any other game that you could find on any server list. The reasoning is that this game relates directly to the forum, not outsiders.

What's the point of dressing up like that? Did you used to dress up like super heros or X Men when you were a little?

Sorry I couln't post this sooner. The weekly Official OPF games are now indefinitely postponed due to different reasons. I am still working to add new maps to the server. Stay tuned.

Anyone who played SWAT3 knows that the SWAT genre is known for its obsessive realism.  It is the CQB counterpart to OPF. Ballistics were VERY realistic in SWAT3.  In the "kill house" there was a room with different moveable panels of different materials like metal, wood, plaster, glass, and you could test the penetration with the different  weapons.  The hollow point rounds would not penetrate very far. Other rounds would shoot through multiple panels. The DAMAGE was VERY realistic.  Most often, one or two shots would be enough to down a person.  Especially if they have no armor and you hit them in the chest. They even had beanbag rounds that you could use if you chose to use them. The SWAT3 suspect/civilian AI was and probaby still IS the best and most sophisticated and complex than in all games. They each had a different personality, with stress tolerance levels, aggression levels, impulsiveness levels.  All are affected by their surroundings. You need to work them to make them compliant by increasing their stress.  Sometimes that takes "thinking outside the box". I could more often make more arrests than downs. This is the most realistic game out there in terms of physics damage and AI.  SWAT was never any shootfest.  It was a mental tactical game.  If you played it like Rainbow six or something then you arn't playing it right.

I actually voted for graphics. OPF already is centered around gameplay and depth. What it needs is a major graphical improvement. I don't see much need for tons more vehicles or anything like that. We already have enough. I mean how many of you actually use them all all the time?

Hi all, I'm IceFire. After all the people telling me that I am missing alot by not trying any mods, I have finally decided to try one. I just downloaded the Operation Frenchpoint mod! This is the first time I have ever tried ANY mod. It was very wierd. It was strange having a unit I have never seen before in the game. And they looked SOO sharp too! Unfortunately while in the mission editor I looked for the standard soldier and could not find him. The closest I could get was finding the medic. Oh well, this was VERY exciting for me. My only real question now is what do I do now? I have these cool French units. So is this it? There has to be something else. What do I do now?

I am with you. Not to mention, most fighter/bomber pilots I've seen interviewed has said that they hate the idea of robots doing what they have always wanted to do. And that they are willing to risk their lives anyways.

Blackdog and I are currently in the process of improving the server and adding new fun maps to play. But I still really need your input as to which maps you find fun. I am still relatively new to multiplayer games, and I have only probably played about 20-25 or less OPF multiplayer games in my life. While I can find the time to find good coop and CTF games online, it is rare that I find a good one or even have the chance to try. If there are ANY good coop or ctf maps that any of you know of that do not requre any addons, please feel free to suggest them here, and I will immediately work to dowload them and get them onto the server. I am really working with very limited experience to try to make good fun games for the forum. The next forum game will be either next saturday, or next sunday. Last saturdays game was good with many more members of the forum showing up to play, but it really depends on our schedule and the state of the server, so stay tuned.

Damn, I tried the links on the front pages, neither of them worked. I found the Far Cry website though, downloaded the demo. Took about 2 hours. Tried opening it, and it said there was an error. That my windows "opening" mechanism was not functioning properly.

PLENTY of people have compared Far Cry to OPF in this thread. Look at the first couple of pages.

Why are you comparing this game to OPF? It's like apples and oranges. OPF is a realistic soldier sim, and Far Cry is a game where you fight monsters and demons.
