Its a weird mix in the Malden Islands Group. We have a Corrupt Dictatorship, the Iron Fist Socialists, a Father Knows Best State, a Left-Leaning College State, and two Scandinavian Liberal Paradises. And I'm not even Scandinavian.

Why isnt ofp popular as hl or bf?

I think Counterstrike is a weird case. Halflife was just so huge as a single player game. Almost everyone owns a copy. So almost anyone can get Counterstrike for free. It reached a certain level of popularity, and because of this, you are guarenteed a game on a server in your country, at any time of day or night, which makes it a good choice to get. Wait two minutes and you are fragging happily, or you can play it at very high levels, with tactics and some very impressive players. (Trust me, I know, but couldn't keep up the practice that requires). Battlefield is less popular than people think, but it is a very good online game to play. It has a really fast feel to it, but the games can last a long time. You also have a large number of roles to take, so it attracts people from a lot of different games. I have players from Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Action Quake 2, Counterstrike, Halflife:Firearms, and several other game, in the clan I play Battlefield with. Operation Flashpoint just didn't have enough servers online when it was taking off. A lot of people I know have played Flashpoint single player, but never tried it online. Once I drag them to the servers for a good few coop missions with comms and a hint of tactics, they do get into it. But there isn't really a place to start unless you already know a player. I had hoped that GOTY edition might pick things up a little, introduce some fresh blood. Maybe once the Christmas holidays are over and the students get back. It'd be nice.

    Knowlegde..

And don't forget, police officers do not want bullets passing through anyone they shoot, possibly endangering innocents. They are more concerned with protecting them than anyone they are forced to fire upon.

    Possibility dedicated server !

He wants a log of all admin commands with the time they were entered. I've read too many drunk people's attempts at typing in IRC.

Nowy What can I say? I'm a hippy at heart.
  9. Barrysworld are a UK based, pay-to-play, GSP. Last month, we put up a couple of Operation Flashpoint servers for subscribers, and for some reason (I think because I hassled them into putting the servers up) I was put in charge of them. I was sick of the lack of good dedicated servers in the UK, and I want to make as many people as possible aware of these servers. We have also put up a bookable server for clans. Membership (Å12/year with a GAME card (available online for Å2), Å24/year without) entitles you to 4 hours of booking time, with a maximum time of 2 hours. Non-members can access these servers freely as long as they are booked by a member. Ideal for clan matches. The subscriber servers currently have a small game running most evenings (normally between 4 and 8 players), mostly a hardcore of regulars, and it would be nice to have some new blood. If the bookable server is popular, we will be able to both increase the number of servers to meet demands, and make Operation Flashpoint available on our clan-servers. Due to the CPU usage, the game would only be added to the top server (Type D). If you have any questions, I am available in #bwofp on Quakenet most evenings, and would be happy to answer them (My IRC nick is Will). Servers 213.221.174.229:2235 - BarrysWorld - Operation Flashpoint (1) 213.221.174.229:2245 - BarrysWorld - Operation Flashpoint (2) - Russian Winter Currently running version 1.90 Addons Russian Winter Pack (Contains Kegety's Winter Nogojev v1.1 and Russian Weapons Pack, and a few other addons, details in the pack). IRC <a href="irc://irc.quakenet.org/bwofp" target="_blank">#bwofp</a> Bookable Server Now available from the Booking Diaries.

    1.90 bug list

Just to dig up a problem which was mentioned earlier, our servers behind the firewall do not display squad xml's either. If the server is outside the firewall, then they show normally. The firewall will allow any outgoing connections, but will only allow authorised IPs incoming. However, I had assumed that the ded. server would access the xml itself, which should be fine.

    Xml

Have a search in Google for free web hosting, anywhere that can host HTML (normal pages) can host XML too. Since not many people will visit your actual page, popups aren't really going to be an issue, though you won't get a domain for free (so no www.lbgs.com/squad/squad.xml or whatever you were after).;)

    Map filename convention

Spaces in file names and linux don't get along too well.

    Server setup

Does anyone have an easy list of all the possible server variables that can be used? I've had a good search of the forums and all the sites I can find, but I can't find any mention of a lot of the settings that are hinted at in the version update lists. Any help appreciated.

    Server setup

Only bookable by members of Barrysworld (Å12 or Å24 a year depending on discounts), though anyone can play on a booked server. They are just in theory at the moment, it depends on if they can work with the software we use. Got a couple of members only public servers up just now, which have proved unexpectedly popular.:) Sorry for the pimping, but you did ask. The servers are located in the UK.

    Map filename convention

Just please don't settle on spaces in the map names. I'd change any spaces with underscores, and that will make life easier.

    Server setup

Thanks, thats exactly the sort of thing I'm looking for. To explain, I'm helping to set up some bookable game servers, and the more config options I have, the more options the booking players will have, as well as helping me to get them set up just right.

    Server setup

I've found that already, I was wondering if there were additional commands that have been added since that document was written. Its almost unchanged since the first dedicated server release.

Red hammer 1.85 compatibility patch and 1.90

I'd hope that the compatibility patch would be no longer needed. Telling people which patches they need to play online is complicated enough already. At least the GOTY edition should help a little with that.
