  1. Not much. Just some of the usual stuff like nvidia things and razer synapse. nothing is taking up more than 2% of my cpu

Try to play without Razer synapse and see if that make any difference.

Razers Synapse 2.0 software is always online. If you have an internet connection active, Razer will be constantly using it constantly downloading updates and interrupting your full screen applications. Not only that, as I suspected, the Synapse 2.0 software is spying on you

From the Razer Synapse TOS agreement:

“User Generated Information†means any information made available to Razer through your use of the Software. Subject to the Privacy Policy mentioned above, you expressly grant Razer the complete and irrevocable right to use, reproduce, modify, create derivative works from, distribute, transmit, broadcast, and otherwise communicate, and publicly display and perform the User Generated Information and derivative works thereof in any form, anywhere, with or without attribution to you, and without any notice or compensation to you of any kind.

By using Razer Synapse 2.0 (“Synapseâ€), the Subscriber agrees that Razer may collect aggregate information, individual information, and personally identifiable information. Razer may share aggregate information and individual information with other parties. Razer shall not share personally identifiable information with other parties, except as described in the policy below.

  2. More official than the statement above. It comes from the executive producer of BIS. Non steam users are not of concern to them and in the end man it's just a game it's not the end of the world. I had hopes until armA 2 was released that they would fix some long standing issues dating back to OFP times. I was wrong they will never fix it or maybe they can't. I don't know and for being honest I don't care anymore. It was nice as long as it lasted.

    cheers

Not is not the end of the world but with this approach, as in arma 1, will again divide the MP community into two groups :ups:

  3. Steamworks matchmaking did replace the Gamespy in OA so it would not make much sense to release a non-steam patch.

There are still old clans who run servers and can use "connect directly via IP" and don't want to have/install Steam. This is very insulting and rude if this is official BIS statement :386:

  4. Well, you should be glad that there is at least some alternative. BIS could also decide to don't support OA at all, but they are supporting it even after 5 years and they gave you an good alternative.

This is true, but without big loyal gamers basis, without which BIS (not BISim) would disappeared after only one published game.

I really hate the posts about "steam sucks", "I will never install steam", "steam is evil", "oh my god I must have one more program running on the background" and so on. I will never understand why are people hating it so much.

Arma 3 is great example that it's working actually great, updates are so much easier and steam brought only benefits.
