    Building your army

There's a command to order your squadmates to get ammo if you are near a truck or crates. You have to select them first and the option will show up under menu 6 (you may have to select a sub menu - I don't recall). You have to do this individually as there is no group or squad command for it. Also, to switch to another member of the squad - aim at them and hit the space bar, select player X only then you'll have another option to switch to that player. To switch back just hit space without a target and you'll have option to switch to leader.

Windows 7 is the cure to all issues

I too found that my XP32 performance was better than Win7 64. I also happen to have a multi-boot system with one XP install dedicated to gaming - meaning I don't install any superfluous crap on that machine so it's very clean and all my games run great on it.
  5. You can remove file associations through Windows Explorer. Tools->Folder Options->FileTypes. Look for it there and delete it.
  6. This was part of the bootcamp training. Since others have told you what to do it's a bit of a moot point, but there's a reason they put bootcamp missions in the game.

    Worth buying a joystick?

Ha! Didn't realize it had been so long :)

Use O&O with the "Defrag By Name" method. You won't be sorry.

    Worth buying a joystick?

The Saitek X joysticks are great because there are so many ways to configure them to add more than just yaw-pitch-roll. I use one occasionally for FSX but generally find no use for a joystick anymore. I haven't and probably won't ever use one for ArmA because I only fly helis and I think the key/mouse works perfectly for that. Haven't tried planes yet as I usually just don't fly planes in these war games - Heli's FTW! BTW - someone mentioned a successor to X52. Not so sure there will be one as they just released the X52 Pro not too long ago (don't know what the 'Pro' designation adds to it.) That and the fact that X45 and X52 really aren't all that different so I can't see what a new model would add that the X52 doesn't already do.
  10. Different strokes for different folks I suppose. I just don't see how something so inconsequential could ruin gameplay. If the spotted enemy is not in range then why worry about it? Now if the issue was that they didn't call out enemies until it was too late, then I'd agree with you. Honestly though, I haven't really even noticed this particular problem (or maybe it's just that I'm too busy enjoying the other 90% of the game that works so very well.)
  11. Ok, help me understand the problem. If you spot an enemy that jumps behind a tree or fades into the foliage... do you or do you not fire in that general direction even though you can't see them anymore? I'm guessing all of you fire, so I don't know why anyone would expect the AI to think we just suddenly disappeared because we laid down in a clump of grass...
  12. I have seen them report unknown for enemies that were clearly visible but perhaps a bit too far to make a determination. Personally I really don't see an issue with this and don't know why people make such a stink about it. As for the OP, seems to me he just wants a reason to complain. I never did understand why people bitch so much yet keep playing. If I find a game frustrating or that contains bugs to the point that it bothers me, I quit playing it. Pretty simple solution I think.
  13. If you are defragging with MS built in defragger you are wasting your time. Get a good third party defrag like O&O that offers many more options on how the files are organized on your HD.
  14. They are complaining because the update for Arma via Steam is the full game and not the 130mb patch everyone else had to download. The gripe is that downloading 4gb of data takes too long. Every other game patch through steam has been just a small patch so no one complains then, but this is different. I'm not complaining mind you, but then I don't seem to be suffering from the same sort of ArmA addiction that some of the angry posters around here do. Mine got to 60% then restarted, but I did't care because I had other things to do :)
  15. That's just patently untrue. The majority of patches through Steam are just that, patches like everywhere else. This is the first game I've seen that is DL'ing something larger than the normal patch.

Oh god don't tell me that just happened

I fail to see the problem in what you described so I can only assume you're being sarcastic.

I finally had an amazing time with ARMA 2

You do know that in Domination you can - at any time - use the flag pole at your base or a captured town to parachute/teleport to another location right? You don't have to wait for the heli...
