    Mafia 2

http://www.rockstargames.com/lanoire/ is the only game I can think of that fits the bill. It is being developed for PS3 and XB360 by some of the people that made one of the most underrated open-world games ever, namely The Getaway. A game that also featured some playable police elements. On a sidenote... After playing the 360 demo I decided to pre-order for console. It just didn't feel as good on the PC :bored: Just saw L.A Noire mentioned above, woops!

    Victoria II

So, finally it's released - I haven't played the original game, but after getting totally snowed in on HOI3 and HOI3:Semper Fi this summer, this game just felt as a must buy. From what I gather this game has a much grander focus than HOI3, and lets warfare take a back seat to managing economy, diplomacy and other matters of policy - But still allowing the more bloodthirsty players to get their conquering on. Anyone sitting on any tips and hints for a budding Victoria player is more than welcome to speak up - I feel that my continuing failures in HOI3 do not bode well for the citizens of my simulated kingdom.... Ofcourse, general discussion, critique and admiration of the game is also welcome.

Anyone willing to trade me their ArmA 2 ?

Quick, quick! Anchor thyself to our social safety net before you drift off towards the Muscovian fireclouds of doom! (Seriously though, this thread should be stickied - Makes the entire offtopic forum a better place to be in)

Sweden does this to people - Turns them into pink clouds of fluffy generosity :inlove:

    Mafia 2

Nice demo.... In some respects however, I agree with Heatseeker - It feels somewhat like a downscaled version of GTA IV. But bearing in mind that Mafia 2 doesn't aim to be a sandbox game per sé, but rather a game focused on storytelling, with some free roaming tossed in as an extra. Many of the things that are lacking in the world compared to GTA IV can be forgiven. I will definitely buy this game, whether it will be for PC or for XB360 remains to be seen - My rig scored rather well on the benchmark, 63 FPS on average, but during the last part of the demo mission everything slowed down to a nasty crawl, with next to no regard for settings being lowered.
  6. I am on the fence with this one... I've been looking forward to SC2 for a long time now, but the oppressive DRM and lack of LAN support is making me less sure of buying the game. It is a sad thing that companies spend money on DRM and other measures of preventing piracy, especially taking into consideration that those who pirated the game as opposed to buying it will soon be playing each other online via private servers. Activisions' ongoing scheme to make customers into subscribers of strange, useless services also makes me wary of this game.

    civillian conversation feature

I just think they should get rid of the system, or at the least make it into a module... If there is one thing I never understood with ARMA 2 it is the NPC conversation system, I have never ever found it useful.

    Very Unprofessional Assassins

Despite the criticisms and rants of many in this thread about conclusions and or analysis made by yourself, I'd like to say thank you for keeping us updated on this, Walker. It is a very interesting series of events.

    Inception

Two-note actor or not, Leonardo is one of the best in Hollywood, Shutter Island sealed the deal on it for me - Marvellous performance. To get back to the topic, I love seeing films in which the director is realizing a "dream concept". Apparently Chris Nolan had been obsessed with this film for quite a while, struggling to make it happen - After having finalized it, he apparently said something along the lines that he has nothing to dream of any more... I hope that drive shines through in the film, I love it when Hollywood does something a bit different, or tries to at least.

    Project RACS

I think the helmets on the commandos' looks great - There are plenty of ways to justify their use as we (or rather the PRACS team) can determine for themselves what role the unit fills. I can think of plenty of reasons why a special forces team might want or need helmets that are not bulky or restrictive of eyesight, perhaps these guys do alot of climbing, ©SAR or whatever other activity that is more greatly benefited by increased dexterity rather than increased ballistic protection.

    Track IR users: (un)natural movement

Sorry, perhaps I should clarify... I meant to use Freetrack as a way of finding out whether or not head tracking is right for you or not, some people can't live with it, some can't live without it. If you find out it's right by using Freetrack and a cheapass webcam, then the path and choice whether or not to invest in more advanced equipment is clearer - Wether it be Freetrack or TrackIR.

    Track IR users: (un)natural movement

@Polar Bear You can always try Freetrack, if you have any place near you that sells cheap webcams compatible with the program - My friend used Freetrack as a demo of sorts before purchasing TrackIR.

    [CAMP] Joint Operations [BAF]

I just wanted to pop in a quick question regarding the ranks in the section we command - I understand that the mission might not strive to portray a section of grunts, but the lowest rank I can remember seeing from the second mission is lieutenant... Nothing that really hinders gameplay (except that it jumbles the chain of command slightly), just a cosmetic thing mainly. Really enjoying the campaign, especially the second mission is getting a lot of replays.
  15. Stellar work as per usual P:UKF! Even though I am chuffed about the BIS DLC, with quality like this continuing to trickle out from the community in a steady stream, it is beginning to feel more and more redundant.... Then again, I can never get too much Brit kit... Wonderful job at implementing these new features in such a speedy fashion!
  16. I wish I could play some OFP (particularly Resistance) but all of the discs were lost in a recent move... Still have the boxes though, for some strange reason.
  17. That is probably the best thrill you'll get out of this game.

    FIREARMS SOURCE! It'ssss Baaaaack

Sweetness! Not really in to the twitchfps genre, but I remember loving Firearms back in the day - I think I was among the top ten ranked with the FAMAS for atleast six months

    [CAMP] Joint Operations [BAF]

Never even thought of the teamswitch bit! I had kind of forgotten that feature existed... Makes exiting the FOBs a whole lot easier, also helps loads during encounters. To any and all worried about restarts, if you are not above "cheating", just use the endmission or campaign cheats - Hold Left Shift and Numpad -, let go and then type either endmission or campaign.
