    Bell 412 close to finished

Excuse me. Does anyone know where the term Huey comes from? I believe that would help clear things up. I'm a little fuzzy where did the term Huey come from? Anyone?

    Bell 412 close to finished

Saying the Bell 412 is and upgrade of the 204 or the 205 is about the most absurd thing I've ever heard of. The 204 and 205 while they may "look" similar is a 2 bladed, semi-rigid rotor, single engined helicopter. As a matter of fact can you even tell a 204 from a 205 or are they all just a huey to you? The 412 is a 4 bladed rigid rotor system, twin engine helicopter. The fuselage is diffrent, the engines, and transmissions are diffrent. The aircraft proformance, handling, flight carachteristics, equiptment, capabilities, GTOW, External load. UH is a Utitility designation for a helicopter. Stop letting the militarys terminology confuse you. The Bell 412 has more in common with the British Lynx than with any of the 204/205 models. Please stop calling a 412 a huey.

    Bell 412 ch-146 griffon

The Canadian Military doesn't use CH-47 anymore. The Canadian government in its infinite wisdom sold them all.

    Bell 412 ch-146 griffon

While I suppose I can understand the appeal of having it in another paint scheme why do you want it in USMC grey? The Marines do not operate 412's that I know of. They fly 212's but not 412's? Plus what do you think BAS would say to me if I asked for them to make a Canadian Blackhawk? Or a Canadian RECCE squad? Or JTF2? .....lay off powerslide, he makes canadian addons.

    Bell 412 ch-146 griffon

The Standard Huey is a Bell 204/205. Its got a semi rigid rotor system and 1 engine. The rotor which makes a hell of a thump. Makes it rather hard to do anything quietly. So its rarely used anymore. Plus the airframes are getting older, parts are harder to find ect ect ect. The Twin Huey is a bell 212. Same rotor system as the original huey with 2 engines. Similar to a 412 but only in a few area's. The 412 is a 4 bladed rigid rotor system powered by 2 engines. The advantage of this sytem is the aircraft becomes much more agile with the rigid rotor system, it can fly faster, the blade disc becomes slightly smaller allowing the machine to operate in tighter area's. So although the 412 looks like a huey with 4 blades it isn't. This 412 is Bell trying to make a North American version of the GKN Westland Lynx. Which holds the current speed record its also one of the few helicopters on earth that can both barrel roll and loop.......although I can't imagione why you'd want to do a loop in a helicopter. As for the blackhawk overall its a good piece of kit a superior to the 412 and both Hueys in many regards. However its loud as hell and much much too big for certain tasks. As the 160 SOAR found out in Mogadishu. Conflicts today are happening on a smaller and smaller scale your seeing more guerrilla style fighting on smaller scale. As a result trying to use a conventional medium helicopter in an uncontentional way can lead to disaster. I think Griffons would have been a lot harder to hit.

    Screen capture

Thank you I'll give that a try incidently if I can't get it to work could you perform the screen capture for me and convert to windows media if I sent you the map. I will try it myself but if I can't get it to work I'd sure appreciate it if you could try.

    Screen capture

Won't work....screen capture like Fraps only works properly in windows mode. If you play full screen it bleeds off frames and the screen capture gets choppy. I tried this alrady my MSI Ti4200 128 GF4 works perfect with FS2K2 in windows mode but won't work at all with OFP in Full Screen Mode (or at least not very good quality) and since there is no way to play OFP in a small window that idea is pooched. However if you know of this to be diffrent on your machine with your tower then could I send an OFP map to you and you could try doing the a quick screen capture to see if the frame quality stays consistant? Or perhaps I could lower some of the texture qualities in OFP for the movie sequence to save on frames? However I'm doubtful that will work I think Fraps can't handle a full screen movie format like OFP even on low detail.

    Screen capture

I'm planning on making a movie for my clan. We have a few guys who are quite good at scripting movies in OFP however I need a way to convert it to a windows media format. Is there anyone out there who can help me out? What I'm looking for is someone whom I can send a movie or Intro in OFP format and who can capture and or convert it to Windows Media Player format. Can anyone do this? I sure as hell can't.

    Cool website

Click here This is a pretty kick ass site. Good pics plus descriptions about most of the US military equiptment currently available. Maybe your looking for an idea for an addon. Maybe your looking for pictures or a description. Or your just intrested in military hareware....check it out. Thanks again to all the Addon and Mod makers you keep OFP new and fun. Cheers,

    Missiles locking on aircraft targets

Jesus she waits 2 hours and then freaks!! LOL Ok I've noticed the following.....you findings are correct, however 2 things that might be noteworthy are. 1) If the player is in the gunner position only you won't get a radar signature at all. Which I don't particularly care for. 2) If you use guns you can get a radar lock on an aircraft in flight which can be useful to allow you to position yourself in a way that you can knock the aircraft out of the sky with a rocket shot.

    Helicopter tactics?

My suggestion is get with a clan and they'll have 1 or 2 guys that can train you to fly but you have to be willing to put the time in. Learning to fly isn't a part time thing and it never stops so you'd better make sure your in this for the long haul. (I'm sure there are lots of guys out there that are very capable who are not in clans... however I'd say the majority of knowledge and training material is in the clans right now. Know how to fly is one thing know how to teach someone to fly is quite another.) One of the best pilot's I have seen is Tex from USMC. He's very good but I don't know how active he is anymore. I suppose I could teach you also but I'm a little sheepish about dishing out knowledge that took me a long time to aquire. Also I'm quite busy at the moment so I don't know how much hands on help I could give you. But I'm willing to try. (In case someone reads this a figures I'm some cocky asswipe. I'm a commercial helicopter pilot.....so I think that over $40,000 worth of training intitiles me to be a little cocky.) Outside of either of these I don't know offhand about any suppliments or articles that will help you. I'd do appreciate your candor about this matter. I think there are a lot of guys that claim to be a hot shot pilot and then slam into a tree with 8 grunts onboard. Its nice to see that there are people out there such as yourself who are intrested in learning and progressing to a higher level. I'd try to get a hold of Tex from USMC or myself. He's the only guy I know of online who I'd trust to teach anyone.

    Ofp movies

Thanks.....what software are you using.....I don't have a second computer available to me and I too am using large .avi files to capture however the current software I use just isn't cutting the mustard. I make the movies for FS2002 in .AVI then edit slap on an audio track and convert to Win Media Player. As Win Media player makes the file much smaller and easier to transfer or host.
