It's mission-based and I heard it has realtime elements, so what the f*** does it have to do with JA? Way to shit on an amazing series. It looks like Commandos 3 or some boring crap like that.

Ha. edit: guess I should re-download the old ECP and DR now since I uninstalled it before DLing this.

I don't know what's with all the negative comments, I think it's a fun combination of CoD and FSW. Weapons actually have recoil and are hard to aim with (I have crosshairs and suppression icons disabled) and ramboing will get you killed (playing on Difficult). It gets off to a really slow start, just CoD/MoHAA business as usual, but when you get to commanding a tank and a team or two teams it's very enjoyable IMO. Sure it isn't 100% realistic but what games are these days? I would call it one of the most realistic games out there, and it sure as hell isn't ugly. My main complaint about it would be the setting: Please stop with the American paratroopers in Normandy already! Jesus Christ, this is the f*****g 10th game or movie made about the subject, and I'm getting a bit fed up with all the clichés already! All respect to D-day veterans but this is entertainment and enough is enough!

Yeah, for whichever reason the word is that the XM-8 in its current form won't be adopted by any branch of the U.S military.

This is a great improvement over the old island, but please, please give us a version with the old textures.

Indeed, flat desert environments don't take much work at all compared to built-up, vegetated areas, that makes them perfect for (early) demos such as this. I do think there will be more wooded areas. Myanmar is on the locations list. The plot is a bit disappointing though, from the very start the objective is to save the world from some nukes in the hands of scaary (clichéd) Middle Eastern terrorists again, same old stuff...would be nice to see some mini-campaigns trying to mimic real-life ops as closely as possible instead of that saving the world BS, that's usually a bad sign...even though OFP eventually ended that way.

...are you serious? I think it looks great, myself, very much like the Delta Force games (in a good way, doesn't look as Rambo-ish) and with a nice, realistic look and feel to it as far as I can judge by those short trailers. I hope there are iron sights other than the VSS scopes, a crosshair is used to fire the pistol all the time...

The blue only symbolizes my love of Finland and the FDF mod, I guess a barbarian wouldn't understand

Didn't vote, I don't feel any of these are very good either by their content or technical quality, sorry. That boat is sweet in a way though

These are "natural" pics...? Still, Acecombat #5 rocks.

Great work Sanctuary, you're like...the animation master.

Some pics from last night's MP with the TF team again: The team off for some hot insertions, if you know what I mean and I think you do: Hawkins giving the enemy some 7.62x51 hell: Back in December, Mad Reizka and me decided to show our patriotism: SEB Nam Pack, Unsung sky, FDF 1.3

Besides the things already mentioned, I have some realistical accuracy nitpicks: The AK-47s don't actually have burst fire and correct me if I'm wrong, but the muzzle flash shouldn't be horizontal like with Earl's AK-74Ms. Middle East rebels also are unlikely to use AKS-74Us that use 5.45mm ammo, by the way it is not spelled AK-74SU like with the original BIS weapon but AKS-74U. These rebels would also use RPG-7s instead of RPG-16s. IMO the best solution would be to either use JAM (with HD) or the RF weapon pack with all its AK variants as weapons. Or just use default weapons and leave it up to mission makers to choose their own addon weapons. The units themselves are very nice.

Both, halflife and Pacific Assault work with the same engine (Havok-engine) No, the same Havok physics engine, HL2 runs on the Source engine and MOHPA has its own. Max Payne 2 and Full Spectrum Warrior, among others, use the same licensed physics engine.

Not a good gaming year for the PC at all, I only bought Half-Life 2 which was IMO way overhyped. Far Cry was maybe the best FPS of the year, fun and relatively free which makes it at least a bit innovative.

Haha, wow. At least they aren't playing CS
