Well, I got modelspecial working by binarizing the models(really, I wish there were a wiki for ofp modding ). It did, however, change the model position when it switched to the second for some reason. I could probably inch the model by trial and error until it matches the position of each other. But honestly, it's not worth the effort. I think it's about done now; I'll post it here soon. Thanks, everyone who helped.

Eat it, A10. Dirtyfied the textures a bit. I couldn't get the modelspecial to work for some reason. No errors, the model just stays the same. Oh well.

There is an unwanted side effect, however, the 'empty' model will be used everytime the launcher is on soldier's back. Aw, that's lame; but luckily it won't be apparent unless you go into 3rd person and look from above in the right angle. Thanks for the info.

I've completed the missile so there's only lods and some texture finish left. It's 1459 faces currently. Does anyone know how to switch model when there's no ammo left? It would be neat to have the tube to be empty after firing.

They're in the game. You can easily spot them in the screenies. They use them in Ofp:Elite too. FYI "Polybump" is actually Crytek's own word for their implementation. For holes and things like that parallax mapping gives a better effect. Even if you used that technique for craters you'd still walk on the same flat ground since it's just a map.

Creating normal maps in Max is really easy actually. Zbrush is an awesome modeling tool for organic stuff, perfect for normal maps. But you don't need it to make normal maps in Max. What you need is a high detailed copy of your model which you then bake on to the mapping of the model.

In-game shot I stole Franze's Igla config values for it; works nicely. It needs some position tweaking to get the hands look decent. But there's only so much I can do about it. :/

The progress so far after a few hours yesterday and today: All the material I found were very low res so I don't know how accurate the details are since I had to guess and eyeball a lot of it. If anyone has nice highres pictures of an Igla, please do post.

Saddened by the lack of pink ponies in ofp I made one myself this weekend. Now finally you can cruise around with your own pink pony posse! Or blow them up! The possibilities are seemingly endless... Download I made this last weekend for my amusement and to learn how to make addons; so it's probably full of mistakes and bugs I don't know of. At least check out the awesome custom animations. Enjoy!

Overpowered ponies? Nonsense! I made lods for it, maybe they are set at too far distances. Again I've only tested this on my system. I suck at this.

Quoted for truth. It's like a syndrome that arises only on game messageboards. "Gimme gimme" mentality coupled with the inability to think rationally. You really don't have to be into game development to understand that you can't tack on features that weren't in the design in the first place(most likely for a very good reason) just because you want it. Btw BIS, if you're listening; I want pink unicorns with amraam's attached and also the commander of the unicorn should have a gun that shoots lasers sideways and there should be funky music in the radio with 50 stations with djs like gta and it should be an rpg game with swords and everything has shadows thx.

No, I think they decided to ditch it because they had a good reason. I think you're underestimating how complex things can get and how much time it adds in testing by "adding a couple of guns".But what do we know? We can only speculate and have silly arguments with each other.

That's what I'm thinking. Multiple gun positions is a design decision and there are probably some very good reasons to not retrofit units used in the original campaigns. Imagine how much they have had to test the game with the features they've added since OFP:E.

Is that normal mapping on that UH60? Looks like specular mapping also. Oh baby. Those are barely critiques. The "low quality buildings" are most likely lods. Most of the issues you have is likely due to performance. Also the game isn't finished yet.
