Yes, but this is getting off topic Ralph, you're likely to be moderated

The bug is with the MSN app. Â It tried to write memory at what is obviosly a bogus memory location of 0x10. Â Since windows runs in protected mode and the CPU in virtual address mode, the CPU reported this violation to windows which terminated the thread and reported this error.
Your system is not likely to now be unstable, though a restart will remove any paranoia. Â Wait till you can purchase the bug fix in the next version of windows

The same/similar crash I experience due to SBLive is 100% reproducable in ALL OFP and OFP:R versions.

You say you can connect 3 monitors with 1 cable. What is your desktop resolution when you do this?
I would be surprised that your video card recognises the configuration and exposes those modes, but even if it does for windows desktop, it may not for a full screen render target.
-
Apart from the previous generation nVidia Quadro boards, only the Parhelia supports 3 monitors. Just take a look at the back of your card, you should get 2 DVI and perhaps a TV out, but I don't think you can use them as 3 unique outputs, only 2.
-
Please describe the crash.
I have recently started getting crashes that freeze the game. I sometimes see a moving mouse cursor, but can't continue the game and can't ALT-TAB or CTRL-ALT-DEL. I too upgraded to 41.09 also OFP v1.90 recently.
-
How do these KX Project drivers effect gaming performance?
The SBLive ones can use up to 10% CPU time with lots of high quality sound on a 1ghz machine.
-
Unfortunately for me tally01, I have not been able to make the latest SB drivers stable. I tried dropping AGP size and 1x. The Via latency patch doesn't apply to my since I have AMD 761 chipset (mentioned in your link). It took me many days of tests to isolate the problem to that particular version of the SB drivers.

This is (sounds like) exactly the problem I reported a while back and had extensive dialog with Creative Labs, brief dialog with Code Masters and absolutely none with BIS.
When the 'shilka' fires at you, the sound stops, then later, the game will blue screen crash WindowsXP.
I tracked this to a 100% reproducable bug in the latest Sound Blaster Live drivers. Â Here were my fixes:
1) You can go back to the older drivers and enjoy their bugs.
2) You can Turn on HW sound and experience their bugs.
3) You can not use SBLive and use another sound source (I now use on board sound chip that is better than SBLive anyway)

(Edit)
Side note: Try actually searching for that last link. Â I couldn't find it using variety of searches from keywords to my name. Â What's with the search engine in this forum? Â (No need to respond in this thread.) Â Search did show a number of other similar posts though.

What you're saying Mister Frag is absolutely true, and that effect can be reduced/eliminated via a number of methods, however, there is definately some programmed lag in the cross hair control. Using the telescopic sights, standing up, crouched and prone all behave differently. To exagerate and experience what I'm talking about, use the Options menu and try sliding the 'mouse sensitivity' to the left and the right and feel the difference. Particularly to the left. It is almost like they programmed a combination of 'dead zone' and 'acceleration' and it feels very bad. This is not new (to my logiech mouse etc.) I have noticed the unusual control since I bought the game, it feels very different from other FPS games, and kind of clunky (for lack of better description). I suppose this is getting off the original topic, since it may be related to mouse/video/game.
NOTE: To people flicking to the last page, please remember to read my new and updated post back on page 2, about the logitech mouse buttons.

What do you mean by 'alot less smooth'? Â I notice that with logitech drivers the mouse seemed very smooth in all games except OFP. Â But I think it is OFPs fault because if I let the windows cursor remain in the game, it moves 100% smooth while the game cursor jerks around. Â If I touch the Options->Controls->Mouse sensitivity control, it gets even worse.
Sorry, I haven't experimented with the Fwd and Back mouse buttons, only the main 2, plus middle and wheel. Â The reason the other buttons dont work properly is that all the new logitech drivers do is turn off their own driver when certain games, or games using DirectInput run. Â This reverts back to the default driver for that game, hence no extra buttons programmable.
(edited) Now I have experimented with the other buttons. Â I also modified the reg. to enable all programmable buttons. Â You are correct, the buttons behave a bit strange. Â I mapped button 'fwd' to LeftCtrl. Â If I use it to 'move forward', it keeps moving forward until I press it twice. Â If I use it to 'fire' it only fires on every second click. Â Logitech recommends mapping the buttons 4-8 to F1-F5, but this means they won't work in windows properly. Â It is also useless in OFP since the F Keys are all reserved. Â A very annoying situation if you want to use those other buttons. Â Pity since the drivers could easily map to 'fwd' and 'DirectX button 4 - 8' etc. which would be sweet.
(edited again) If you want to enable all button mappings, you will need to make this reg change:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Logitech\MouseWare\CurrentVersion\Technical
UseLGGameScheme="Off"
This allows games to use the MouseWare button mapping that would otherwise be disabled while they run.

gonk is correct, the problem only occurs when the game is set to use EXACTLY the same video mode as windows desktop, so you can change the refresh rate, resolution, or color depth in the game (or windows) and avoid the problem.
Mister Frag's solution is the easiest, you just got to remember to do that while the game is loading. If you forget, open the options->video menu and change ANYTHING that would cause the game's render driver to restart. Eg. W-Buffer on then back to off is probably the easiest, but any other video option will work (not game ones like draw distance though) I don't recommmend ALT-TAB because it can change you Gamma, and sound Volume as you move to and from windows desktop.

That is absolutely correct. If you want the other 3 buttons, you will have to try some registry hacks. But the new drivers and USB is all you need to play.

Reporting back again: The new 9.75 drivers DO fix the mouse wheel problem, BUT you must plug the mouse into a USB, not PS/2 port.
-
Reporting back: I tried to get the scroll wheel to work and searched the net. Found quite a few forum posts etc on the topic but I could not get their fixes to work. (Such as the Tweak UI one). I did find a fix though. I merely uninstalled the logitech driver, it rebooted, and the mouse works perfectly in OFP and UT2003. Most buttons work fine and the mouse appears fully functional.

In the Multiplayer menu, I clicked 'Implementation' to change from 'sockets' to 'directplay' to see if there were any games listed. The computer froze and I could do nothing but reset the machine.

I used to play on my p3-450 256mb, geforce2mx. Played half the original campaign on it. Was okay, but paused a lot. Upgrading to 1.2ghz, 512mb, geforce3 was like a different game. However, many patches and more ambitious mission later, the game seems disappointingly slow.
-
lol, mister frag is right, as soon as I saw the title, I thought 'logitech mouse with the scroll feature'. Disable this feature with your mouse utitlity, should be on the toolbar. I don't have that mouse, but I encountered the problem playing Americas Army on my bros computer.

I recently fixed my Sound Blaster Live problem... I disabled it and used my integrated sound chip, something I hadn't even tried before. I found that the integrated chip was completely stable, and was slightly faster than the SB Live. The sound quality was not quite as good and there were no bass/treble controls.
The integrated chip was a C-Media CMI8738/C3DX. I notice this chip is used in the Hercules Muse cards and a bunch of other budget cards. I would only recommend it as a budget, stable alternative to SB Live.
With all the hastles I've had with my SB Live and my Creative WebCam Go, I will never buy another Creative Labs product again. System stability is THE most important thing, everything else comes after.

I'm trying to play a mission that has a Cobra helicopter. There are three trucks near the airport, ammo, fuel, repair. I have fuelled the chopper and repaired it, but I cannot get the thing ammo-ed up. I have had this problem on a few such missions but normally the behaviour is to only load cannon, or rockets, but not all munitions.
Ideas?

Crash bug has been confirmed by de><ta who has a similar system and replied to this thread:
-
You are absolutely right cricket, the difference between a good game and a great game is not having the immersion spoiled by hundreds of small but annoying quirks that slap you back to reality.
-
If you have a similar system to mine, please try these steps and see if you experience this bug:
My system:
OS: Windows XP Pro
MB: Asus A7M266
CPU: AMD Athlon 1.2ghz
RAM: 512mb PC2100
VID: Suma Geforce3ti-200
SND: Creative Sound Blaster Live (Value)
(no overclocking, latest drivers and bios)
So If you are running Win2k or WinXP, have that motherboard (or similar if you like), any AMD processor, any Nvidia graphics card (particularly geforce3 or 4) and importantly a Sound Blaster Live varient, please do this:
1) Make sure you are using the latest Sound Blaster driver from www.soundblaster.com v5.12.01.0244. Older drivers will not have this effect.
2) Run Operation Flashpoint, or OFP:Resistance (Any version is fine).
3) Options->Audio Disable Hardware Acceleration and Disable EAX. You must not enable either of these options.
4) Grab a helicopter in a mission where you can be shot by a 'shilka'. In the campaign, 'Red Dawn' will work, or in the single missions, 'Sniper Team' is good. (If you chose Sniper Team, just run south west to the base and jump in the Hind, then fly north east to the other enemy base and get shot at by the shilka there). But feel free to use any suitable mission and any version of OFP.
5) As soon as the enemy 'shilka' fires at you from a distance, you will get one of two things:
a) Immediate crash in ctaud2k.sys, or
b) The sound will stop and in a little while or when you exit the game it will crash in someother driver.
I really need someone to try this and confirm it is not just my system, but a bug in either or both OFP and the Creative Sound Blaster Driver. I can reproduce this crash 100%. Don't worry you shouldn't lose data when it crashes (I've crashed it >30 times now) but don't run other apps at the same time.
Thanks, let me know how you go.
(By the way CodeMasters has offered useless support, BIS no support, but Creative Labs has been very supportive but yet to help solve the problem.)

So do I. I own a bunch of games and have played oodles of demos and OFP is the only game with sound problems. My sys has AMD chipset not VIA, has no device conflicts and is 100% stable.
