Well if my recollections don't decieve me. The M60 weighs 23lb unloaded (yes heavy) and an ammo belt (standard 200 rnds) is about 9lb so a total of 32lb or 16kg.
The gunner would carry 2 maybe 3 200rnd belts. Each member of the squad (8 men) would carry one belt for the mg. The agunner would carry another 2 belts plus his personal weapon, ammo and spare barrel for the gun plus its kit.
I do know that the WWII mod Invasion 1944 will have the Mg42 in LMG role and MMG role(fixed). The lmg will have a 250 round belt (note rate of fire is 1200rpm).
