That's not the mod speaking Raven don't worry. We, Project Racs, in particular me think theat there would be no more than 60-70 tanks total on the entire island North and South tops.... Both sides. We are not professing numbers at all, but just leaving it up to the fanbase and mission makers to decide. I totally agree those numbers are out of this world crazy hihg considering Georgia which is connected to lots of countries and a former soviet republic, had like 100 tanks and a population of millions. I originally thought RACS should have like 20 tanks period. My first plan was to make it primarily a wheeled APC army with a few outdated light and medium tanks. Lamar

WIP: stuff you are working on!
FA Dalai Lamar replied to adumb's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Good god rygugu..... You are impressive sir. I know you say it is a long way off, but Jeez it looks friggin awesome now! What else do you have planned for this beauty? Lamar -
hey Vilas.... You have not responded to my pms .... I am leaving for a week but i got your suspension problems sorted and can walk you through it if you want it.... Anyway....If you cannot get me tonight I will be back in a week or so. No computers wher i am going. Lamar

yup...i got the floating hemet bug too. It's due to distant resolution lod not having the helmet selection defined to the head selection...super easy fix but needs the Mlod to do it. Yaciek...amazing pack btw...I love the units...the new east pilots are great....I alos like the new fighter pilot helmet! Lamar

i will check out the gear sounds thing...When it left my plate it did not have that problem and Im still using my unbinarized version with no error, so either it's a binarizing issue or a last minute inclusion of something i did not know about. Anyway it will be fixed and I will be adding another version down the road. I would like to pay special tribute to Obmar of course... Really genrous guy who not only sent me these original models but also volunteered some helpful advice while he was on a business trip.... Hats off to you Obmar you're a class act. Obmar also has contributed to the troops with his wonderful hats as well without people like him Vilas and footmunch who have given so much we would not be able to give you a Racs army. Best Regards, Lamar

@William1 - Great point and actually we did in fact discuss that same point at length. I originally wanted to put them in Spanish but as none of our team speaks a lick of it we were unsure the exact translation also i do believe parts of the Island have Portuguese names and Middle Eastern ones as well. Also I know RACS is their official designation by BIS and i am pretty sure that Royal Army Corps does not translate exactly so we just went with English for those 2 reasons. However I am Open to translation if it matches up. we of course would have to talk EddyD into redoing all his hard work. Lamar

You might want to hold up just a tad on re-releasing Vilas as I might have a fix on the Dampers for you tonight as well as the BMP2 rear wheel problem (not spinning). Just found the problem I think. will get to it after work! Lamar
-
One bug to report....the suspensions don't seem to work and the rear drive bogey on the BMP2 does not turn....looking at the config to see what I find. If i find the fix I will fix it and send it to you. Amazing work...Turnouts all work perfectly! Lamar

never fear we are not pulling the plug everyone.... Still have my troops and landrovers and m113s to finish. Also Allouettes in Racs camo...and some other nice stuff. We are, however, capping the project till we get the core complete... after that we will, as they say in Louisiana, give yall a l'il Lanyap (something extra). The slowed progress is mostly my fault as I am into my busiest season in the worst economy since the Great depression. I know you guys all over the world can appreciate that. Anywho.... We will get done what we have on our plate but like Eddie says, probably not much more even though Wiliam1 your Eurofighter is very nice looking, but just too too modern for us. Etenard, Mirages (3 and 2000) and the f16 are plenty enough. There might be a pucara but we have to see on that. They troops and trucks are my focus right now and Eddie is going to finalize some stuff. We are also both trying to figure some stuff out for Vilas so he can release his wonderful packs! Lamar

@helping hand: these are actual Pumas....We didn't make them up....Romania makes them exactly like this and theirs has even more on the pylons....South Africa also had something similar....Look back in the thread you will see actual pictures of both. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IAR_330 Lamar

Well SLA does not share the oil wealth of RACS. My working theory about the South vs the North is that the RACS forces enjoy a technological advantage over the North but not a numerical advantage. Nobody says RACS has divisions of these modern tanks. I see the SLA as having more tanks and older Soviet era weaponry to swarm the RACS lines much like the Soviet strategy. As far as SLA Armor....the SLA was far more complete already. The Addon GOD Rygugu is making a wonderful t55 that we may modify if he is so obliged, but i suspect he will do several versions and thus we will have no need. We have added SLA armor, but more along the lines of APCS with anti Armor capability and light vehicles. I have been totally preoccupied with real life and our terrible economy to finish my UAZ and BTR-152 pack but there will be an SPG-9 and AT5 UAZ for sure (they are actually done for the most part). There will also be a new BTR-80 which is close to being on the work bench as soon as we push our RACS Armor off. Never fear we have considered the SLA balance. Laamr

Well our Lavs will be Lav-150 and Lav-100...sorry bro. But i will say they are friggin beautiful though as they are from the Vilas Vibi pack. However so as you are not completely disappointed the afor mentioned pack does have Lav-25s in it. LAV has come to mean the LAV-III and LAV-25 but in fact it is just an American designation for any Light Armored Vehicle. We will have right now a 90mm antitank version a 25 mm version and a MG/mk19 version I believe. We had an AA version with missiles but now we have moved that to a Fuchs AA vehicle with rapier (we know this does not exist but is a beleivable retrofit by a resourceful indigenous military) There migh be a Tow version of the LAV -150 as well. Lamar
-
indeed you are right...I think it was a typo in description but never fear it is correct on the plane. We do have mk83s on the Etenard. Lamar

Hey guys, Eddie i finally woke up and got to take a look at it.....all fixed! Thanks gnat, synide, and rip31st for your gracious help! Guys like you make this community. Racking up vast surpluses of good Karma for sure. It was a simple problem, the hard to find ones usually are as we all know....just took a second pair of eyes. Not to mention poor Eddie just had major surgery today! Hope you are feeling better brother! Lamar
-
Jesus god almighty you are talented Vilas. Just simply amazing work on that Leopard..... @absalom that Kraka is sweet...US Marine corps used to have something very similar in Vietnam and the 70s as i recall. Lamar
-
thanks bro, we are sticking with the 1017 Mercedes though...As far as soldiers are concerned we are going to arm them with default and community based weapons. As they are abviously derived from Spanish or Portuguese sources the G3 (hopefully a CTMLE though) or FAL will be included along with M16a1s from Vilas and m16a2s. there will be many soldier options loadoutwise. Lamar

AA is definitely a priority don't worry. Funny you should mention the bofors...we got one but its an old one that Wld427 made in OFP. We do have a twin Oerlikon (sp?) 35m that needs som love. AA SAM is covered by a rapier system ala Malvinas and wld427s own m113 AA missile rig +Bis 163. We also have a v-150 aa vehicle, but it needs some work too. the Bofors is definitely my pick if we can get one looking ARMA quality Lotsa ww2 vintage ones around but no modern ones...Unfortunately I am strapped for time and suff is laying in heaps for me to do already. If someone finds one let me know. The 35mm Oerliko carriage and turret is tip top, but the barrels need lotsa work to be presentable. BTW RACS will have Allouettes and PUMAS thanks to our good friend OBMAR....and ty Vix for your slats bro....they look nasty on that M113. It was a pleasnt suprise how well the fit on a m113...I didn't have to do much at all. I'll keep you posted! Lamar

Well i think we got the Truck squared away....Ebola an Sorri's wonderful Mercedes 1017 5 ton Truck.....Perfect for Saharani. http://www.magnaclad.com/pdf....dpi.pdf The model is old but extremely advanced for its age. RACS Rollin in da Benzo! yo...or something like that. I am getting the model squared when i finish some other back logged stuff for us and others (thunderbird and Vilas I swear I am working on it...RL has a nasty way of ruining your timetables). I gotta sort out glass damage and its good to go. Lamar

I am in search of a bucket to catch my drool....wow.....I have never seen such a large amount of beautiful work....that pack should about cover....everything! Lamar

Thaks VXR, great tidbit I never knew they put out there! well that settles it. Google earthing that coodinate puts it a little off the coast of the Azores indeed but not too far (albeit 100s of miles from Canary islands some 2000+ miles away from central-south America it should be noted). This is what i figured by the ethnic makeup, buildings and fauna. This fits in nicely with our plans and our more European influence on equipment. No doubt BIS chose the 6 color DCU in concert with Spains use of that uniform in desert conditions. I highly recommend reading the wikipedia entry on the Azores and Canary Islands, facinating stuff. anyway, back to my work...RL work unfortunately. All the best, Lamar
-
Sahrani in Central America.....ummm nah....no history of kingdoms in central America, no Mediteranean architecture, no middle eastern flavored Islands...with buildings that could pass as Mosques....I would definitely not put Saharani (note name sounds like sahara) as something like islands off the azores (as previously stated) or Canary islands type Island between Europe and Africa....Guess what the speak Spanish and Portugueses there too and they have a mixture of African and European Pupulation....It can be whereever, but look at the evidence and history of the world. Lamar

it really does, but actually its a US turret they mount on LAV-150s and Dragoons. I hope you all are as mildly obsessed with recoiless rifles as i am muhahah...there are 5 vehicles (3 landrovers, one M113 and one uUAZ with SPG-9 man the work amazingly) there will also soon be a BTR-152 as soon as my real life quits butting into my playtime. Lamar Project Racs

Just a little tidbit....for you SLA fans....UAZ with SPG-9 and a KonKURS AT Missile....I have finished these and am just waiting on permission from AKM74. He has been downa while, Man it is sweet though. The SPG-9 Recoiless version is working well. I will post pics soon. There will also be a BTR 152 in 3 or four versions thanks to Shadow NX and the RHS folks. Since I have an unhealthy obsession with recoiless rifles there will probably be an SPG-9 version there. Also Get ready for some troops over the next weeks. One Request, if anyone has a good wheeled APC (not an LAV or stryker) that would suit RACS, meaning 2nd world flavor, we need one bad. Thanks for your interest! LAmar
