I'm disgusted the way so many people are turning on the U.S. and it's soldiers despite the billions of dollars in financial aid we put into the world, and our intentions to protect ourselves and innocent people. But that's just IMO, I don't want to get off topic. Yes, pilots are going to get excited when they blow something up. Like it has already been said, you have to de-humanize your targets. I don't think any pilot would be able to live with themselves if they fully realized what their bombs were doing to people. I know I wouldn't. And you have to admit, it is very impressive. Especially footage of the smart bombs dropped by B-2s. The airplane was at, I estimate, 15,000 feet. Someone's looking out the window with a camera at the targets below. There are I think 6 or 8 of them, and he goes from one target to the next, each of them explode with almost perfect accuracy while the B-2 is completely out of harms way. How can you not be impressed by that?

Ok, well, I searched for a tutorial about the tutorial about mission briefings and didn't find anything. I created a mission, put it in a seperate folder as it's filename (uh-oh.noe for the folder, uh-oh.noe.pbo for the file), and included a briefing.html in the folder. The briefing is basically copy/pasted off of the tutorial at flashpoint1985.com. For some reason, it doesn't show up. Any help?

Every time I see a game called battleship I think it's a game where you sit in a turret and shoot things, which is fun. Then it turns out to be a board game.

It's pretty hard on the PC, but it's a GREAT sim.

Again, if you're looking for realism, movies (especially ones from the 80's) are not the place to look. lol, that should be common sense.

There are tons of paperbacks written by vietnam vets out there, just go to the military history section at barnes & nobles.
-
HAHAHAHA, that's too funny. If you want my opinion, and I'm sure you're all dying to hear it , I think the U.S. should provide at least SOME of the evidence that it has against Iraq. So far Saddam and the UN inspectors have done a pretty good job proving that he does not have any WMDs.

X-plane is an underground sim said to be one of the most realistic. http://x-plane.com/

I thought it was a great movie. Showed what America was really afraid of during the cold war. And if you're looking for realism in movies you shouldn't watch movies from the 80's.

Do they hand noggles out to all the combat servicemen or just pilots and special ops?
-
I'd prefer thermal imaging. You can see imporant things more clearly, like people and vehicles.

Maybe this is the wrong thread, but I've got a question about the M1 Garand. Were the clips ejectable mid-clip? Say you were shooting and you have one round left. You're ambushing an enemy so you don't want to shoot off the last round, can you push a switch or something to eject the remains of the clip?
-
Yes, apparently they do have snipers.
-
"Soft targets" are not soldiers, they're things like cars. Soldiers are known as "infantry" and probably wouldn't be engaged by a cluster bomb. Then again I'm just going on what I've picked up from constantly watching the history channel. If anyone has a good... NONBIASED... site on these weapons I'd be happy to learn about it. And I sure hope Balschoiw doesn't mind us going off on a tangent like this.

For another side of the story : http://www.angelfire.com/biz5/fsflight/dupaper/1.html I wrote the paper myself, so it isn't professional. But the sources are.

Why on earth would a bunch of pilots all spontaneously and unanimously decide to commit a war crime? There's absolutely no reason.
