You could make getting a hit to the front or back plate non-fatal, but have it throw you to the ground, and maybe possible wounding? And also, the medic int he video who was sniped, showing the picture of his plate? Those are even just normal SAPI, the ESAPI is rated for armor piercing, so....yah....

75th Ranger Regiment ACU Units (WIP of course xD)
Whiskey27 replied to Binkowski's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I would say, the most accurate right now would just be ACU's, with a tan plate carrier... But what would be more practical for Chenarus is BDU's. :D But regardless of what you decide to go with, I'm sure I will be playing it and loving it :D. -
But putting a PSO on a weapon that isn't a rifle caliber? I didn't think they made PSO in non 7.62/5.45 variants.

The Aimpoint series is usually preferred for its durability and long battery life. But Eotech has a following as well and is widely issued. Some units say you have to use what they give you, some will allow authorized optics to be personnaly bought, and some have a mix of all three you can choose to put on your rifle, *my friends Stryker unit tells him he can have either a aimpoint/eotech or acog..* And if your in the SOF world, no matter where...its probably personal preference.

Exactly...if you changed the marpart on say, the Assault Grenadier, to acu/dcu/bdu....you could call him <insert US SOCOM> ....and by that he could be a ranger...a seal....deltaz...ussf....USAFCC....Seriously there is so much in common with equipment used, for the most part its small differences. -
Maybe because we finally got out of the banana republic sahrani? :D

I like the amount of detail you are putting into this Soul_Assassin, keep up the good work, it is appreciated by a lot of people! -

You know what, they may have not released anything, but I have no doubt they are making progress. As I'm sure they are going big, not just some small model and island replacement, something more. Just be patient young padawans. -
If I knew how to say, "Well done!" in Czech, I would...but lets just settle for English.

I myself wore altama ripple soles......best...ever -
It's no big deal dude, I mean really they are your addons, and I was just saying what I know. And yah the marine in that video has an optic mounted on the forward rail, but I can see that as an easy mistake to miss for someone who doesn't work with that kind of stuff a lot. But seriously keep on making what you want to make if you want, it's what it all boils down too.

You can still use the forward sights. It's much easier to aim with just the front sight for some people. And thank you for the feedback guys. It is much appreciated. *Edit* Right now I'm working on making some of the SOPMOD attachments. Like the reflex sight, ECOS - N Sight, and forward handgrip. Just some ideas. Show me one person who would go to combat only using the front sight post. edit: But I don't mean to come off as a dick, just saying it would never happen. But honestly keep up the effort, try new things. Like they say you have to start somewhere.

1st Infantry Division

Fail. So I'm guessing it depends on who's "the commander," eh? Well I personally am just trying to give you some accurate 1st ID info. -
1st Infantry Division
Whiskey27 replied to CameronMcDonald's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Actually, yes they are. Both full-cloured cloth and subdued infared flags are allowed. The banned flags are the full-coloured infared flags and subdued cloth flags. Are you in the 1st ID? How do you know they are allowed? Well these soldiers are to depict combat deployed soldiers. So no color flags are not authorized, nor are they really used. -

Whiskey27 replied to CameronMcDonald's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I'll tell ya this, if your are making a garrison style soldier, color would be fine. But if you are going to make them look as if they are on deployment, the IR Flag(there is only one issued version) is the only one authorized. Anything else usually doesn't last longer than one NCO seeing it. -

As far as I know, Tan is the issued item these days. But on deployment, you will see people with black and sometimes even green belts. Also Riggers Belts are very popular, tis a pretty sturdy belt. I used a Tan one. -

Whiskey27 replied to Exsosus's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Whats interesting too is I see a lot of guys using the magazine/magwel as a sort of vertical grip too. This isn't the "correct" way of shooting but people are doing this. Also, I find the small sized hand guards funny. People put them at the front end of the RIS, far away from where they are grabbing the upper receiver, so I'm wondering "whats the point?" Well actually that is something I did quite frequently, holding right in front of the mag well. I dunno I had a m203 and it just seemed comfortable and somewhat stable. Really its just whatever works you use. And for the smaller RIS hand guards thing, sometimes people have no choice and either have to have them on, or they just don't get them (my armorer kept ours, we couldn't use them, don't ask me why) -
Advanced Combat Environment
Whiskey27 replied to Exsosus's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
They're RAS Pannels. I'd rather hold them with my hands than the bare rails. Or I'd rather use a vertical grip - but we all know that won't be happening Maybe ArmA2? Well you can still have a VFG while also using the "RIS" rail covers, they come in like 3 different sizes. They are there to help protect the rails, and also protect the "operator's" hands from the heat of the barrel after sustained firing. -
1st Infantry Division
Whiskey27 replied to CameronMcDonald's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Our SOP, was to wear side plates, groin protectors, throat protectors at all times when in sector. In the beginning the DAPs shoulder pads were required but usually left for gunners only as they did not have to move around much. But it eventually boiled down to everything BUT the shoulder pads. But they use the IOTV now instead of the IBA so things might work a little different now with how everything is setup. -

Whiskey27 replied to CameronMcDonald's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Hey cam, I know you don't know me. But Ill tell you that adding DAPs may be a good thing for realism, but honestly they aren't really used. Â I've seen MP units using them, and some others. But if you want an honest to god 1st ID impression, well....we didn't use em except maybe gunners(hmmv gunners that is) -
1st Infantry Division
Whiskey27 replied to CameronMcDonald's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Well the ACH, which is the correct term to use for what these 1st ID guys would have, does come in 3 different sizes. -
He already has someone doing textures for him, just that person is busy with other addons, and this was kind of a side project for him. (From what I understood.)
