OA multicam reskins - Getting MC right.
Whiskey27 replied to Fox '09's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Hey fox, one thing i noticed on your guy, was it looked like the velcro was still the grey from the UCP uniform? If I'm mistaken, my bad, but if it is the MC uniforms use a brown velcro fwiw. Also some little details, like the cargo pocket flaps, I think I can see them in the picture, and they would match up with the surrounding pattern, but be a separate swatch. Also fox, how about making them look sort of like the guys in those pics? MC uniforms, UCP Helmet cover, UCP Vest, MC molle gear and what not....Could also take some of SF guys for their plate carrier / vest and make them into regular infantry guys. But hey I'm just spitballin here bro. Keep up the good work man lookin forward to these guys (and a replacement config :) ) -
Here are some observations/ideas that I'd like to throw in. -IR Lasers seem to have a limited range, when in fact they go as far as any normal high power laser does. (Would also be nice for the laser to have 2 modes, 1. always on 2. on for 3-4sec) - For vehicles like the BTR-40, should be allowed to button/unbutton the drivers shield at will, not only when you turn the vehicle on/off. - BTR-60, allow the driver/commander to view through the normal drivers hatches as well as the view ports. - 3D interiors on all vehicles that don't have them....best one I've seen so far is the AAV and the BTR-90. Although only the BTR-90 gunner can get out of the optic view. Make all other vehicles like this. Just some thoughts/suggestions. :)

ARMA 2: CO (how to combine ARMA 2 into ARMA 2:OA and use together)
Whiskey27 replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
I have both versions on steam, and the file in OP works fine for me, also putting mods into my OA folder, and then editing the cmd file allows me to also use mods. Would be nice to find out when the solution to fix this is going to come out. -
Add a camel(Operation Arrowhead)

Or a donkey.....and I'm being serious....also the ability to load that ass up with ammo? Epic.... Although it would definitely bring up an issue of timely resupply. :D -
ARMA 2: CO (how to combine ARMA 2 into ARMA 2:OA and use together)
Whiskey27 replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Yes 1.07 for ArmA2, and as I have the steam version I can tell you I can play online with other people. -
Well you were correct on the first point where you just wouldn't do that. And most people I know carry leathermans and gerbers anyways. But like you said, on those you wouldn't, but I was mainly pointing out for us it is still a soldier's task do zero his own weapon. Also note that the AK47 in OA has the ability to change its ranging, as you would in real life with its leaf sight. I think the implementation could be useful on a lot of weapons/systems, just only where it applies.
-
Well maybe in your army, but in the U.S. Army the soldier zero's his own weapon, with instructions and help from an NCO, not some "weapons specialist." And an ACOG is not adjustable on the fly, you set your zero and that is it. It isn't like a "sniper," scope. Same as the Aimpoint or Eotech, you zero the sight, and then you're ready to shoot.

ArmA2: Operation Arrowhead Impressions - ALL OA Impressions/Videos/Screenies Here
Whiskey27 replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Do you even understand what "penetrate," even means? Possibly, the rounds are going THROUGH the bus, for example, penetrating. Shooting a bus with a tank round doesn't automatically mean it's going to blow up in a giant fireball. -

i7 930 @ 3.0GHz ATI XFX 5870 Win 7 64 2x2GB ddr3 @ 1600mhz Basically the same setup you have, and occasionally I will have a hiccup, but for the most part I do not have this problem. Btw, I still have HT turned on, and can get 41fps in the benchmark. -

Whiskey27 replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
If this isn't the right place to put this question sorry, but to clarify for steam users, you mean that future downloads will include that file? So if we already did download and have two separate folders via steam, we can use this? Thank you. -
I try and run the game through steam, "The game is not available at this time." I try and run it through the .exe, and I get "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 or x64 version of the program, and then contact the software publisher" The .exe doesn't even have an icon, also why didn't the steam version of OA integrate with arma2 either? Am I going to be forced to buy the combined arms version on steam if I want them both to be in the same folder? Is it possible to just copy + paste the arma2 content into the OA folder? Yes, thanks onchas, I'm editing this btw so it isn't bumped, but yes I did a restart, and then it found that it wasn't decrypted. Silly me for instantly giving up other things to try.
-
Yes MJK, but steam does not install like any other normal game. So for steam users your answer does not apply.
-
Now steam is downloading it into a seperate directory, how do we go about having a merged arma2 and OA? do I just copy all my A2 content into the OA directory or what?
-
There are the two bags, the gun bag and the tripod bag. Move the tripod bag where you want it, and while wearing the gun bag look at the tripod bag and the action should show up.

Arma 2 Steam Version: Reinstall BattleEye
Whiskey27 replied to maturin's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I guess we'll see when OA comes out on steam. I honestly have never had a problem running Arma2 under steam. But I also don't run Arma2 through steam, since you can just use the default .exe and not the steam created one...why not? Lets just hope that in the steams "13 hours," they actually do release it.....Still kind miffed that there isn't even a price yet. I mean how hard is it to release a game on steam? It must not be that bad since everybody and their brother has released a game on it. :/ -
If only you did the WEST side of the river :D. Good start guys, keep at it.
-
I was wondering, is it necessary to have everything removed from the action menu? Besides maybe accessing the radio itself frequency wise, but since the transmits and the whisper/yell change are bound to buttons anyways.

Ok I did say some :), maybe what I remember is the smoke from the weapon it self, but I do remember it vividly when I had an RPG shot at me. Maybe the smoke "trail" of the rocket it self could be reduced true. And yes it would be more visible at night you have a point there. But them sparks are there! ;D
-
I can tell you first hand that RPG's do have some smoke trails.....Also I think the sparks in the trails of rockets such as FFAR are decently realistic.....Being that I've seen what FFAR's look like at night....smoke and spark trail :)
