I've got the Saitek X52 Pro and very happy with it. Had the normal X52 before. The Pro version seems the same but with coloured lights and supposed better build quality.

If it goes out of control without pressing any buttons then the key bindings may be screwed up. Make a new profile and see if it still happens. I guess you've checked that you don't have a stuck key on the keyboard? ;)

Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
EDcase replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Hi and welcome Alex, As Leon said, the GPU (graphics card is quite weak and will mean playing on lowest graphics settings) If you are in UK or want to consider buying with extra shipping have a look at THIS company. I have that G860 laptop with: i7 740QM 4gb ram HD5870 Win7-64 and it actually runs ARMA:OA quite well (25-50fps) at 1920x1080. (Lots of AI will kill the fps) The other alternative is Alienware -
How do I keep myself from messing things up?
EDcase replied to rosentorf's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I've had similar issues because as soon as you leave Team Leader slot he will do his own thing and order the team too. I don't think there is any way to avoid this problem. You just have to make sure he can't see any enemy when you change team and do it quick so you can then cancel any order he gave when you change back. -
Are you using a wireless keyboard by any chance? Try new batteries...?

Sorry to hear about your woes. I don't know about the possible problems with ATi but another option is to check is the sound card as they can cause these sorts of problems... Try disabling it and see if that changes anything.

Are you using any addons like JTD smoke or WarFX? They increase CPU load of course. -
How many people playing Operation Arrowhead online?
EDcase replied to joeshmoe's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
It depends entirely on the mission (mission maker) but generally this game HAS to be played at a cautious pace as in real life. Rambo style play will get you killed very quickly. As Antagoon said, the AI in this game are far more challenging than other games (usually) -
Congrats on new hardware!!! Make sure you're on latest version, get some mods and enjoy the goodness... You think the armory is good, just wait till you get into the editor... :coop:

How many people own this whole series of games?
EDcase replied to xman1's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Same as Kristian except I got 2x OFP, 2x ARMA, 2x ARMA2 and 2x OA  Not into consoles so saved a bit of money there ;) -
I´ll be back - Terminator stuff in ARMA II

Arma 2 Addon request thread
EDcase replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I'd like to have the T-800 Terminator ported to ARMA2:OA The old one by Marccom doesn't seem to work although it doesn't give any errors. Just doesn't show up in the editor... -
Yep, grenade throwing still needs some work...

I don't remember very well as it was a long time ago that I played the campagin but I think you have to call for chopper transport before you get in. Even if its already right next to you.
-
Yeah, the wildlife should run away from vehicles. Civs should avoid vehicles rather than other way around (which doesn't work too well)... and they should run when you honk ;)
-
Sorry, I wasn't replying to your post but trying to clear up a bit of the confusion that some have. .. but yeah, what you said makes sense. Page file should be on a separate drive/partition to game installation (and game should be separate from OS install) Don't forget that some missions will have a lag spikes when scripts run and when AI are spawned...
-
HDD has no effect on fps directly. LoD and texture lags are due to slow HDD. For ATI users: To force VSync OFF In TrayTools make a profile and link it to ARMA2OA executable. Set all options to force VSync off and save the profile. When you run ARMA2 it will automatically use that profile. Of course it won't have a huge impact of fps if your average is below 60fps anyway but it helps with menus and map. (I get 700fps when I zoom in on the map [on my laptop!])

THIS one works well for me If you live in UK...

I'd like to have Vietnam and WWII conversions as DLC. I'd pay £15-£20 for each. WWII would be more work as many elements (weapons/vehicles/aircraft) of Vietnam are already in game and would only need re-skin

I think people who like the old recoil are used to playing arcade shooters where its nice and easy to line up a shot and keep pumping the trigger no matter what weapon is used. This is a simulator and as such it recreates the recoil kick relative to caliber and stance. If you are playing as a sniper you must be prone to reduce the kick. The recoil effect is more accurate and makes shooting much more interesting for the player. Just get used to it.

I am new to the forum! Can this comp run arma 2?
EDcase replied to RedGr3mlin's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Hi and welcome, You need to post this kind of question HERE as this post will be locked. Its very hard to say exactly what settings you will be able to use because there are many combinations and it depends whats important to you. I would advise 2nd option as ARMA2 is VERY power hungry as its a simulation. You will not be able to run on high settings but it will work well on medium and that still looks good. -
Hi and welcome Atned, Its truly an amazing game and its the only one I've been playing constantly since the original (OFP) came out in 2001 This thread will be locked as it supposed to be posted HERE But before it does I'll say that you spec is minimal I'm afraid. It will probably run but on low settings only and with not many AI. You have to understand that this game is nothing like BF2, COD etc. Its a simulator and the AI are real unlike other games where the AI already know where its safe to shoot from etc. You need multi-core because the calculations are split to different cores and even then lots of AI activity will slow down an i7. I'd suggest an HD5870 or GTX260 as minimal for good graphics settings. Best thing you can do is try the demo as Tim suggested. (the latest version of the full game runs a bit better)

If its recognised in Windows then it will work in game. (Devices) You will have to manually assign each control option though. Its painful but you only have to do it once.

Arma 2 oa APPCRASH problem (please help!!)
EDcase replied to shandiego's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I understand your frustration but its not the games fault otherwise everyone would have the same problem. Clearly there is a problem with certain systems which is down to drivers as there are an almost infinite combination of specs. Anyway, you don't want to hear that so some things to try... Update to version 1.52 Then try Beta (easy to install and remove) In game settings try changing video memory setting. If you haven't got it, have a play with settings using Ati Tray Tools -
