-
As far as I understand: ARMA2 only then just install the ARMA2 patch 1.08 Combined Ops: (ARMA2 + OA) then just install OA patch 1.55 OperationArrowhead then just install OA patch 1.55 BAF DLC then also get BAF 1.01

Which anti-aliasing mode to use on AMD 5000-6000 series?
EDcase replied to darthmuller_cro's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Yeah, I did notice that in new Beta but of course you can't play online with that as its v1.55 NOTE: The official v1.55 patch has been released now so now we can all start using it http://www.arma2.com/index.php?option=com_rokdownloads&view=file&Itemid=20&id=423%3Aarma2oapatch150to155〈=en -
Depends on what you have: ARMA2, Operation Arrowhead, what type: DVD or Steam We need more info to help you

Which anti-aliasing mode to use on AMD 5000-6000 series?
EDcase replied to darthmuller_cro's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
HD5870 (Catalyst 10.10) I use Normal AA in game Res 1920x1200 3d=100% I use "ATI Tray Tools" to turn off vertical sync as I couldn't find a way to do that in CCC AA is Application Controlled / Box filter. -
Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
EDcase replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Salut Macam Cow, If its within the budget I would suggest the ATI HD5870 (THIS is the cheapest I found and the one I got) I just replaced my GTX285 with the 5870 and WOW what a difference!!!!!!!!! I did consider the GTX480 (I know its more powerful) but didn't want the heat and power usage and the 5870 is cheaper. The ATI drivers are a bit crap tho because you have to use separate "ATI Tray Tools" to turn off vertical sync. I now use: Res=1920x1200 ViewDistance=4k Object detail and shadows = VERY HIGH (this makes the biggest difference) AA=NORMAL with no jaggies PP=LOW. IT LOOKS AMAZING!!!! FPS does depend on CPU load of course. High number of AI units will reduce FPS no matter what GPU you have. Playing online "Insurgency" (Takistan) where the server takes the CPU load I get between 60 and 80 fps. (does go bit lower for short times if there are big explosions but never feels slow) -
I have it on LOW I like the glow and the motion blur makes it much smoother and more realistic. It looks crap when turned off. I like the depth effect on NORMAL but the distance blur is too high and the added SSAO kills fps.

SR/CTV Community event 2010 - Gamers vs Soldier Reloaded
EDcase replied to jerryhopper's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I agree. Even though ARMA is the most realistic game of its kind the main thing that counts is getting used to the controls and learning how weapons behave etc. So I would say experience with the game counts more than experience as a real soldier. BUT non ARMA gamers vs soldiers with the same amount of ARMA training would be a different story... -
Check this VBS video out (Very Cool)

Yeah, the delay with the wheels of the vehicle turning is too slow. It should be almost instant with the input device and damped a little bit. -
Doesn't get better than that... ;)

Saitek X52Pro and TrackIR5 You can adjust axis sensitivity in the contoller options. kb + mouse makes it very hard to use all axes together and no variable input on yaw (X&C) makes it very jerky.

Yes, it is possible and beneficial to install ARMA on a SSD. (You should uninstall and reinstall rather than move an existing installation) The Windows cache should still be on HDD I think. As for that one. I suggest looking at several reviews to make sure the transfer rates are good. SSD's do vary in performance so make sure to get a good one. I have the OCZ Vertex 30Gb which works well enough tho there are faster ones now.

Any Laptops that are capable of Running ARMA2:OA, Know of any?
EDcase replied to Simpledestruction's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
They are base on the same architecture but the mobile versions are always cut down in some way to reduce size, power and heat. I also play arma on my laptop with an HD5870M which is no way as powerful as a desktop 5870. -
THIS shows server statistics. (All versions) I'm sure there are more people playing OA If you want REALLY good online gaming then you have to join a clan.

I don't know where you heard this but its wrong. The mobile version of gpu cards are NEVER as powerful as the desktop version. -
Where can I find patches for the following bugs?
EDcase replied to Dongolev's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
1) Wrong naming: You are thinking of Thermal Imaging or InfraRed. Goggles/sights that can view heat sources. (These are more expensive than NVG's generally lower resolution so are not as commonly used, especially as goggles) Weapons with these sights do exist in Operation Arrowhead and are called TWS. Night Vision Goggles (NVG's) are image intensifiers that multiply existing/ambient light. The display is usually designed to be green because the human eye can distinguish more shades of green than other colours. 2) Are you using a joystick? Do not use the Analogue throttle option. 3) You can only turn out if the Commander has turned out. Make yourself the Commander in the mission and swap places in game. 4) Yes, this does happen sometimes. The latest Beta patch fixes many things and is easy to install or remove. (To remove do NOT use uninstall but just delete Beta folder) -
ARMA 2: Private Military Company (ARMA 2: PMC) DLC
EDcase replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Yeah, I'd like to have more options in the editor for configuring ammo crates, character loadouts etc. A nested list with icons would be great. -
No screen when running ARMA2 OA
EDcase replied to The Mad Professor's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Hi MadProf, Thats a strange one. I guess its a graphics problem then... Have you tried installing the latest Nvidia drivers? (you can find em HERE) Make sure to get the right 32 or 64 bit version and check the GTS240 is in compatibility list. (You would benefit having a more powerfull graphics card but I'm guessing its a laptop) Maybe also re-install the latest DirectX9 Hope you get it sorted mate. -
There are a couple of programs to chose from that clean the computer of old drivers bits. DriverCleaner Pro DriverSweeper You boot into safe mode and then run one. Also make sure you have the latest version of DirectX 9 Try disabling the sound card as that can also cause crashes. (just to test)
-
I think I did see something about fixing speed of sound for some things in one of the recent Betas. I'll check it out l8r and report back.
-
Make a new profile and see if that fixes it...

Lets not go too far now... It would probably take an hour to render a frame if it had alot of extra ram ;) Back to topic: If you want a laptop to play ARMA then you will have to spend over £1000 I got one from HERE that runs nicely with relatively high GFX settings. My spec was: i7 740QM @1.73GHz 4Gb ram HD5870m (no longer available) Now only option is GTX260M -
You wana shoot an M2 from the hands?!?!?! :681: HAHAHAHA Wrong game m8, you want to be in the BF2 forum :p I'd like to be able to create dynamically spawning AI for missions. (Like DAC but without all the hastle and coding) Basic parameters available in editor for modules such as SecOps, Civilians, Vehicles, Wildlife, etc. So we can change densities etc. without scripting.

Twirly (OP) is right!!! Fire mode should NOT have grenade mode included. Ideally grenade throw should have its own key binding. (If anyone can find a spare one ;))
-
Great mod afp! Would it be possible to go a step further and make it completely blank so it would be like having no crossahairs at all? The reason would be to keep the name tags which only works with crossahair active but effectively removing the crossahairs. Cheers, ED
