HELL YEAH!!! Now THAT'S what I'm talkin about... Would be absolutely great to have that in all aircraft
-
I'd like to have leaning available in helicopters at least. It might not make a huge difference to the visibility but I think it would still help alot and increase immersion.
-
Yes, there is an fps impact otherwise there wouldn't be an option ;) Its not much tho. Personally I have it on Normal. I can't see much difference.
-
I think the other one you mean is "HDR quality" That is the bit depth for the HDR effect. (High Dynamic Range) When set to Normal you might see banding in sky gradients at dawn or dusk and the ground will not shade as smoothly through dawn and dusk transitions. High will smooth out the gradients and colour changes.

Complete freeze up in game A2/CO -
EDcase replied to meade95's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
ARMA sometimes does strange things and bugs out. I wouldn't worry unless it happens constantly. BTW, This is the wrong thread to post in. Should be in Troubleshooting" -
Maybe its just my system but the spacial sound effect is lost if the source is nearby. In other words if you are next to a car with the engine on or someone firing close by it sounds in all speakers equally so you can't tell where its coming from. While the sound SHOULD spread around you the closer you get to the source, it would still be directional. Anyone else notice this....?

Remove hand signal for dead squadmembers.

I haven't noticed this. Are you using any mods like ACE or SLX? -
Bizzare performance after upgrading, issue?
EDcase replied to tacticalnuggets's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Something wrong with settings. I went from GTX285 to HD5870 and difference was amazing. I think your problem is Vsync is not possible to turn off with crap ATI driver. Get the latest ARMA patch 1.56 which as Vsync option in graphics settings. I think you will be happy with the difference... -

I liked the campaign :p I can't believe you are complaining because there is too much to do in a mission or its too long. If you think its too hard then play on cadet mode... I've played the Flashpoint series since 2001 and liked all the missions. (OK, Red Harvest had a few too many bugs but it was trying to do alot) Am I a fanboy.... YES!!!

pls improve collective response in helicopters to make them more reallistic
EDcase replied to feris's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Yep, a joystick with throttle should help as you can go straight from 100% power to 0 in an instant unlike a key press which is progressive. -
I agree with the option to "pass control" between pilot. (not "request control" as that could get annoying if abused) If the pilot dies in real life he doesn't have time to offer control to the co-pilot so it should be automatic BUT The co-pilot would get a message "Pilot is dead, you have control" As in real life this would make sure that the co-pilot is doing his job of being aware of the situation. Also if the pilot is killed in some situations it may be impossible for the co-pilot to recover anyway.

Sorry but I can't believe you are complaining about this if you don't even use a joystick especially if you are a pilot  You can adjust axis sensitivity in game options. -
I agree with OP and unfortunately I'm reminded quite often how ridiculous it is to see a body flying through the air after being hit by an RPG, bomb or tank round etc. Its not about exagerated gore but 'realistic' effects. At least making bodies dissappear when hit by high explosives instead of flying all over the place. (It also does get a bit annoying to see the same death animations but nothing can be done about that) This may be available in some addons but it should be properly integrated into the game rather than added to the list of things that must be fixed by third party scripts/addons which I'm sure are not helping performance. You people who dissagree get off your high horse. It would be optional in settings anyway so you can't complain... ...As for the argument of attracting immature, sick dickheads... That might be true at first but after everyone has had a play and seen the effects at work (yes, we would ALL try it), players would get back to playing properly and with more immersion.

two bugs that don't get fixed, WHY???
EDcase replied to bez's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Yes, those are annoying. -
Make sure you and the server have updated Battleye Might have to download latest files manually from HERE

Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
EDcase replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Hi and welcome, I have a very similar spec 15" laptop (not alieware) and it runs ARMA2 & OperationArrowhead quite well at around 30-40fps with these settings: 1920x1080, Viewdistance 4000 Everything on normal except: Shadows - HIGH PostProcess - LOW Keep in mind that the CPU will struggle with lots of AI so best performance will be when playing online where the server takes the load. -
Hey O'B, I know you installed a new OS but since you had something to do with the Nvidia driver in the crash dump have you used an NVidia cleaner like "DriverCleanerPro" or something like that to make sure there are no residuals. Perhaps use a previous driver...? If its in the NVidia driver options: make sure that CUDA GPUs used is set to 'Zero' Hope to see you back in the server soon mate...

Its not FADE. The sound you hear when you hold a key down is the keyboard buffer full warning. Its probably because ARMA stops responding for a bit and so fills up the buffer. Duno why ARMA would cause it tho. Not much help with the freezing issue but just to let you know its nothing to do with the sound... Maybe try defagging the drive...?

Yeah, I've got the same problem with the Hind texture. (For me it pops on and off when in the distance) Don't worry they'll sort it... eventually
-
v1.55 has also introduced some problems for me. Last good beta used: 74123 DvD: Arma2 + ARMA:OA Sprocket: BAF Sys: Win 7 64 6Gb ram i7 920 HD5870 Performance is lower. Especially large explosions(no mods) Voices of AI so slow and low that they are not understandable Ingame VoIP frequently does not transmit to other players even though the icons appear as normal. (All channels seem to behave as DIRECT) Hind lowres/far texture pops on and off when in the distance. (Still very noticeable change though)

I used freetrack before getting TrackIR-5 Freetrack is good to get an idea of what it feels like to use in ARMA but the TrackIR-5 is much faster/smoother to respond and does use less CPU. It took me alot of tweaking to set up the response curves the way that feels natural but now I look around while running and leaning around corners which gives much better situational awareness. Its true that the real BIG advantage of this is when flying, especially helicopters. Its a completely new experience. Try Freetrack and if you like it but want to "upgrade" then look for a second hand TrackIR-4 or go all the way to TrackIR-5.

Hi and welcome Rick, I can't help with the "how to" as I have no experience with Steam but I would certainly recommend installing ARMA2 if you can. The maps make a welcome change from the deserts. As far as getting the best fps you really need to play with settings to find the compromise between quality and speed. Using an HD5870 I prefer speed so I have most options on normal and only Object and Shadow Detail on HIGH with a viewdistance of 6000 I get 40-80fps (playing online) which is nice and smooth.

BIS has increased the quality of BAF LITE in OA 1.55 (for those who did not buy BAF). ...and they have improved the DLC one for those that did buy it (BAF patch v1.01) Don't we love BIS :mwah: Yes, of course buying BAF DLC will increase the quality from BAF Lite (even 1.55 version)
