I find it very annoying that mounted weapons (especially in helicopters) have damping on the rotation. These are supposed to be easy moving mounts that should turn freely. is a quick example: Note how freely the gun turns/moves.What do you think...?
-
Thats EXACTLY my point. It should be up to the driver to control that... Each vehicle will have its top speed depanding on its engine and tyres but not as low as they are now offroad. In real life there is no limiter to slow down a vehicle depending on where it drives so why should ARMA?!?!?! Also vehicles will handle differently so you will notice more difference between driving a sedan or a jeep. If you drive too fast (as in real life) the car will get more and more damaged. There is more chance to skid into a boulder or flip it. Thats how it is in real life and its not so hard to do in ARMA.
-
NO you do not undertand. Its not a question of DPI, mouse speed or sensitivity. (I use a RAT 7) The weapons have a deliberate damper which limits their movement/rotation. THAT is what should be reduced or removed.
-
Oops... ;) Yeah, you need both to get all the content.
-
You need to find servers that have a green or possibly Orange icon.(Orange means they may be using extra mods) Check your game version bottom right of first menu screen. It should be version 1.59xxxx If not then search for 1.59 patch. Good luck...
-
You can lower/raise weapon ingame too and that solves the collision problem. It just has to be on a key that you can use quickly ;)
-
Yes, what I want is to increase the rotation speed. Not sure what you mean by "separate from other turn settings" I'm talking about the turning of the gun left and right, up and down. At the moment all the mounted guns are damped too much so moving the mouse fast does not turn the gun fast.

Most ARMA2 mods WILL work in OA OA mods will NOT work in ARMA2 I'd suggest getting: ArmA2 + Reinforcements which gives you the most content To be honest I don't know what OA offers that Reinforcements doesn't have. Once you have it all installed you must also install the latest patch. The game should show version 1.59

If you are getting jumps or slight pauses while flying it most likely your hard drive. (landscape, objects and textures streaming) Defrag! ARMA should be installed on a separate drive from the OS and an SSD is the best option.

Playing Demo, questions and observations
EDcase replied to Westsailor's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Hi and welcome, I'd suggest getting Arma2 and Reinforcements which = Combined Arms + British Forces(BAF) + Mercenaries (PMC). (If you get OA instead of Reinforcements you will have extra missions but you'll have to get BAF and PMC separately online) That will give you access to the most servers. (Note that some servers use mods which are free but must be installed to join) 1) Don't be discouraged. It takes a while to get comfortable with controls and methods for commanding AI. Take it slow. Customize controls to your liking which also makes sure you are aware of them all. There are a few vids on YouTube how to command AI. (HINT: when wounded press 5,4 (states that you are wounded so AI are aware) Then select the medic with his F number and press 6,1 (that will tell him to heal whoever is wounded tho you might not be first in the queue) 2) If the in game sensitivity doesn't go low enough then you'll have to adjust in windows mouse settings or get a higher DPi mouse ;) 3) BIS just make the game. There are quite a few servers worldwide... Or use the editor. Its very easy to make a quick mission. (look for vids on Youtube) You WILL get killed ALOT in the beginning until you learn to spot the enemy and get a feel for how the AI react. Thats what makes it more than just a kiddie shooter and keeps us coming back for more ;) -
Yeah, this would be great for vanilla implementation. (no Mods needed) Walk inside chinook to find seat option Walk inside C130 to find seat option (or side door if ramp is up)

Multiplayer severe issues...please help
EDcase replied to lonewolf1990's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
In Domination there is an anti-TK script that blocks bullets near the spawn flag. I don't think this is what Lonewolf is referring to. The coloured dots are indicators of friendly (white) and enemy (red) units. These appear on the lower difficulty settings. You can also edit the difficulty parameters to remove this option. -

Hi and welcome, You must first test without any mods to eliminate those from the equation. I've never heard of anyone having a similar problem tho. -
Grass and Foliage on a 6950 pixelly
EDcase replied to madeineano's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Got same with 5870 and 11.3 and 11.2 drivers. Fixed using 10.10 drivers and seems to be better performance -
If the CPU runs hot for long periods that will reduce its life. So make sure to have GOOD cooling on CPU and in the case.
-
Overclocking will not give a huge benefit and you must do a good bit of research beforehand. Yes, keep the 3d res the same as screen res. (Its stupid that it can go above screen res) Use HDR 'Normal' VSync 'Disabled' Check in Settings/Controls that Mouse Smoothing is lowest (slider to left)

How to take a screen shot? Other games easy!
EDcase replied to Joe98's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I use 'ZDRecorder' for frame-grabs and video capture. (It allows control of quality/size and codec for capture) -
Yep, 0 worked best for me but note that some people had crashes when set to 0 so then use 1. Also note that with the latest patch (1.59) your character turns slower when crouched or prone.

How much is to much AI to run ARMA2 right!
EDcase replied to avibird 1's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Yep, too many for MP. You should look at some of the spawning enemy scripts like DAC... -
Take on Helicopters reminds me of SAR4: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/99804/reviews/search-and-rescue-4-review/ Was fun and BIS will certainly improve upon the gameplay. I'll definitely be getting TOH. (My 6 year old son will love it too I'm sure ;)) If done with enough fidelity I think it will be successful in the sim market as its much more interesting than just flying from A to B to C to etc.... Plus the ability to exit the aircraft will be very novel in that genre.

Its better to get familiar with the basics using SP at first. People will get rather miffed if they have to wait for a new player who doesn't know how to get in a vehicle or accidentally fires a rocket at their base etc.... So... play a few of the SP missions and campaign (I liked em all to varying degrees) and then when you feel a bit more confident you can venture into the wider MP world ;) (When you go MP make sure you get a microphone. Typing in a battle is a sure killer :D)
-
Sorry but this is a pointless thread and will most likely be locked. BIS will announce ArmA3 if and when they decide.

PP on LOW for me. I think OP is talking about the Depth of Field (DoF) blur which comes in with NORMAL and above. I like the idea and it does give extra depth to the scene but its just too much. I LOVE the distance blur when viewing through a scope on LOW setting. I wish it would look like that without the scope. (without the edge blur of course)
-
Nope. It should be possible to unPBO the files and add all weapons but thats getting into quite heavy scripting...

Does anybody like Role-playing online-arma?
EDcase replied to tilyard2's topic in ARMA - MULTIPLAYER
I wouldn't call that role-playing... its just co-operation the way its meant to be played. All clans play like that, just join one. Of course setting up your own server is cool too ;)
