When the bullet passes you it is still in supersonic. So it should make a "crack" sound when it passes you. According to reports of soldiers you always hear it. If the bullet is sub sonic you just hear a "swish" sound. I heard it once when a hunter just shot past our garden ( about 2m ). You can even hear those sound when playing paintball or airsoft if the bullet is fast enough and happens to pass very close to you head ( not the "crack" sound :) ).

I don't know about pressure effect but I did test and the top and left edge of the screen flashes white when you fire the tac50 while looking througgh tthe scope---------- Post added at 06:50 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:48 AM ----------
First, what mission are you playing, second do you mean the diamond hud markers that you can see in easy and normal mode?
btw white flash... did anyone alredy mention the missing muzzle flash on the AS50?
I'd like to see some missing equipment, too. There are so many things not in ammo boxes and that are not listed in any of the equipment charts not how to activate them. Or they are not working yet?
-
Judging by your equipment it's no wonder why you get wasted by the tanks every time. No AT? Get a IFV like the M2 or the AAV and add some AT infantry to your group and in the vehicle cargo. You will be slower but imho you have a bigger punch that way and have more protection vs. enemy inf without AT.
Or use the same team but with a TOW Humvee.

I am having problems activating the gas mask and small stuff...but so far nothing really buggy ( playing on the older version though )
-
I liked the alternative ones ( vet mode ) you could use in ACE for A1. Very thin crosshairs yet visible enough to show where your weapon is pointing.
@Daniel
I agree, but with TrackIR and a virtual body it's a bit more difficult imho if you don't have a feel like in RL where your gun is pointing and where your head is looking atm. :D
At least one should have an indicator where the head is pointed compared to the body like when you are sitting in a tank ( turret to chassis in the upper left corner ).

Is the Windmeter already included or will it be released another time?

Some are annoying, some are usefull. Some are usefull but annoying to some ppl although it is supposed to help because you don't have the same awareness like in RL when having a picture on screen. Like the spheres on the edge of your screen to simulate the corners of your "real" sight.
I do share the opinion that the scanning should be removed although this was no real reason to boycott a game or whatever because everyone has the same tools they can use. So as far as i can see nobody was in a real disadvantage except those who didn't know there was such an option or lets say because they didn't read into the options well enough which is their fault imo.

You know using vehicles from different addons can easily mess up game balance?
The old BW mod was a good example. Bad german tanks and "über" RU tanks.

It possible to block a player if he already joined one side ( having to create an account for mission duration is one possibility or giving a black screen if the player switched ). Maybe Benny and other Warfare mission makers should consider putting this in the mission. People are fair enough to play on the same side when they drop from a server...but there are certain as**oles who don't care making the game pointless as stated above. There are also enough morons switching sides only to rape the bases and tell away the positions to the opposite team.

I don't think size really matters in rifle calibers. If the bullet is designed to transfer a lot of energy into the target that will do :D
ArmA 2 should be able to differ between armored and non armored infantry? If yes just add a bit more damage to simulate stopping power :p
And those who think the russian 7.62 is superior to body armor. There is a viedo on youtube where a grunt gets hit in the chest with a SVD. Afaik he just broke a rib or just got a bruise and his team captured the wannabe sniperterrorists.
Their fault for waiting for him to face them with the front side of his body armor :D -
Why the hell not?!! Isn't it cool to have sight adjustment and other cool things in single?I was comparing 7.62x39 with 5.45x39 and 5.56x45. And as I think the 7.62 is much more effective at big distances and also at close ranges too, 'cause it has higher penetration qualities. Yeah the 5.56 and 5.45 has more speed but I'd rather prefer to have more chances to kill a guy in armor vest than just scratch him.
If i understand you correct you prefer the smaller bullet rather than the bigger one, right? That's imho the better choice because a penetrating bullet delivers less energy in the target.
@ Sky_Line
At combat range the smaller bullet is more effective at combat range than the bigger one due to the penetration. Sure you still have more energy at greater distances provided that you hit the target due to the higher trajectory and slower travel speed compared to the flatter trajectory of the 5.56.

The only way as it is now to get a proper game, is to play on a private server, with ppl you know and have direct coms with (TS+VON)That's not completly true. My clan has awesome teamwork when it comes to wars or other competetive like modes. But if you let them lose on a public server or in a coop mission... C H A O S :)
-
i think its gotta do with the fact that nobody uses gamespy arcade anymore like for OFPWhat does that have to do with terrible public games??
There are enough alternatives.

No, I'm talking about mission makers trying to implement what all the complainers here are listing. Missions that barely get the interest they deserve (even AAS doesn't get the interest it deserves. Devastation pack, anyone?). But still, I hear complaints about "this game needs this kit implemented, etc"? ... that makes no senseI'm talking about server owners trying to put up missions that have what the complainers here are asking for. Servers that always stay empty. There are tons of discussion on this very MP board about how people can do to have this running (making gamemode-dedicated servers, using missions with fewer players, etc...), people trying to do something. And all the response they get, is this kind of "A2 sucks, PR pwns" threads.
In our case a clanmate has done what you suggested: "put in what poeple want", the missions weren't the problem. Even with the crappy preverions of ArmA 2 they worked better, even with ArmA 1 where the missions were converted from, where other missiosn makers had flaws his missions were 99% flawless.
The thing where players were suddenly moaning about was the game itself, about bugs that were actually features and unbalanced sides because they had no skill etc.
It killed a whole league before it started. It must have been the country though. The EU section still lives on, but players start to create TDM and CTF mappacks instead of the classic C&H missions the game was supposed to be played with ( no vehicles etc. )...in the end those players could have played TDM and CTF in any other game imo. TDM and CTF might still a teambased missions, but i doesn't take advantage of the capabilities of the game. In action shooters like CoD and BF2 where you have more limited possibilities ( BF2 is practically a C&H only game nad CoD is a mix of C&H, CTF, TDM and DM, but all on a different level scriptwise and areawise ) it's understandable that you can't make such missions.
You can make the best mission ever and there will alway be somebody like you to complain.

I hope they add the option "grass layer" for the next patch. No need for "grass on" and you still have a bit of visible cover like in A1.
-
Try playing in a clan and in a league. You will have tons of teamwork and stickiness it will literally flow out of your ears. You can't expect teamwork from a every random weekend warrior on a public server. Players locking themselves up in a voice program doesn't help the situation either.
A controlled environment such as a clanwar or a locked server are the best solutions for teamplay.
ArmA VoIP isn't that fascinating if you have idiots voice spaming the whole time like in the old Sahrani Life community. Of course you can mute them, it's the same as turning VoIP off.

As I said, this was on very close range. He was hiding in the grass. If grass had been off, finding hime wouldn't have been a problem at all. Trust me, I was amazed at what I saw. Might have been a lucky position or something I don't know. I wish I had fraps up and running. If it were a human, and that was the title of the thread ( PvP, not vs AI ) the guy in the gras would barely see anything either ( assuming there is no 3rd person view on ) and he would have needed to at least go to a kneeling position to get a shot. Most players would not let you that close unless you come from their blind spot or in my case hiding in a bush, letting you pass to shoot you in the back :D ). Most players tend to fire at great distances with a bigger chance of missing and telling away their position.
-
What system do i need to get some performance?
-
Action and tactical gaming in ArmA = contradiction?
-
Grass makes the game look better, at the cost of frames.
Imho it's better to turn grass of anyway. It's useless if it's not rendered beyond 200m and for the guys who think they have cover while beeing prone..yes, but only at close distance and only with a ghillie suit. From far away it's like you are in a spotlight, the same as without grass.
@ Matt
Useless if the server doesn't allow client mods.
@ Langnasen
If i assume correct if a player goes prone he will have grass around him? It's even worse. You can tell by "spots" of grass that somebody is hiding in the grass. :D

Clipping bug. It's like accelerating into something or somebody. If you are high or fast enough you can get injured while exiting a vehicle. It doesn't even need much speed or height to accomplish that.
-
Asking a clan if they are willing to play with you should do.
Filling in at least your location would help knowing which group is close enough to you ping and language wise.
I don't know who reset my player info though :D
-
Yes it is, once the CLU has locked the target, the information is sent to the missile, the missile is then fired and the missile seeks out the image that the CLU sent to it.I was referring to the missiles target system...why a "manual" in direct attack mode? :j: Failed to investigate or not possible with the engine?
Really? A crosshair for a "realistic" sim?

If you don't want crosshairs just put some of this on it. :p
