Too bad - pricelist and order explanation is in Finnish BTW I have searched for Russian map sites - looks like Russian governmental cartographic organisations still live in the Cold War... No Suursaari unless some dedicated OFP fan visits some Finnish pre-war archive and brings us the knowledge about the desired island (Just to explain my problems with gathering any info about Pearls of Finland, I come from Central Europe.)

Even if someone creates Suursaari, the result will be very different from original: I am not sure if it would be that fun to play on island covered by dense forest (about 90% of the surface)... I think there is enough space for airstrip... 10km long, 2 km wide, looks like the shape of island is like designed to be a runway Uhm, artistic freedom will be necessity ("Use your imagination, corporal!")

Blake: That is true, but Suursaari looks so nice Unfortunately it is not part of Finland - so I couldnt find any detailded maps on Finnish Map Service website Back to the "mammoth" island issue: I use ArcView 3.2 to create DEMs - the first stage of work is to digitize elevation contours over the "flipped" raster (WrpEdit reads ASCII DEMs in another way than GIS software writes them). The time consumed by such operation depends on how big the surface is. I have already tried this method - it works good, so I dont want to put my efforts into the trial stuff anymore (pretty boring, drawing all the stuff and adding heights manually) BTW can you specify the amount of money needed to purchase small-scale maps from Karttakeskus (I suppose it is "Map Sevice")? Is there any possibility for foreigner to buy maps from this organisation?

I hope admins wont notice this moves a bit off-topic and move it to Off-topic;) Wonder: Now I scope how to get to some good maps (at least 1:25000) of Suursaari island, which is currently part of Russia but until 1947 it was Finnish (passed to Sowiet Union after post-WW2 dialogs in Paris, but Russians occupied it some time before), as far as I know. Very interesting terrain, nature, size cca 2x10 kilometers (almost ideal size for OFP), not to mention interesting historical background. The fact that it belongs to Russia makes the gathering of maps a bit harder

Mikkofin: I just wonder what is your concept of KES - something like reloadable tube or some more real stuff? Will there be any gameplay differences from LAW?

First of all: get some tutorial. It seems you are able to communicate in English - good! Visit OFPEC, there are plenty of good tutorials. Some hint concerning the island concept: less buildings, mate, and things are gonna be okay. The urban areas are quite demanding on your computer. And the second one: have you thought about the scale of the island. It seems it has about 2 km in diameter, but the area you could use is 12.8 x 12.8 km:) Remember you should create elevation model in right scale. BTW in case you want traffic and buying weapons, play GTA 3

I cant see point at NOT editing Nogova. The community is capable to edit it (even in the harder way due to the denser grid issue mentioned by mads bahrt) and I must say that "Winter Kegnova" would make great addon. So I say "Someone do it!"

MikkoFin: Sure, show us some winter stuff pictures!!! BTW I have just sent some people first pics of the snow troops (Blake being one of them:)) Unfortunately my website is down now, so I havent got a chance to place the pics here... Another question: when may we expect some more addons? Are you planning the big PBO or rather separated addons? (I would preffer them to be separated...)

Blake, the Sako loooks awesome, the Finnish troops now get rifle they deserve!!! BTW I started working on older version of Finnish smocks. Today I have a plan to finish winter textures for infantry and Sissi units.

2Masta&Blackdog: I am importing real-world terrains into OFP and it is difficult to find good piece of terrain which would fit into 12.8 x 12.8 km square as an island. The chance to get bigger piece of terrain (25.6 x 25.6 km) into OFP would be very valuable for me Unfortunately WrpEdit seems to be able to import only 256x256 points 50m-grid at the moment, though OFP is able to handle bigger islands (as was posted previously). 2Blackdog: Yeah, man, quality first! I have attempted to create island with aim on the details - see My OFP Projects&Downloads Website (bottom of the page). Whatcha think? Sorry to turn away from the original topic...
