Yeah, I'm with Suchey on this, instead of making JAM more complicated with an extra set of magazines without tracers, just turn the tracers off in options, you can always turn them back on in night games if thats what you prefer.

If the community doesnt start policing people that are modifying or using peoples addon making work without permission then they may find addon makers not releasing work because they no longer feel it is safe, months of work can be thrown away by someone taking the work and renaming it as their own and it is hugely demoralising. All it takes is a quick email to clarify whether something can be used or not, i dont see why this is so hard to do.

And an addon containing software that was not given permission to be used by the addon maker contains illegal software, and i would expect BIS and their moderators to act accordingly to any threads about addons containing unauthorized use of another addon makers software. I really appreciate the hard and good work of BAS, but you should either stop this whole "Intellectual Property" (who introduced this terrible thing?) and copyright discussion or you remove immediately the Ranger/Delta Demo missions since they include COPYRIGHTED music. Either you stop complaining about people not respecting copyright or you take out any copyrighted music that you are distributing. We did actually ask for your permission to use your downwash scripts in our addons quite a few months ago, and were given permission, we just didnt use it in the blackhawks/chinooks, however for reasons of playability we decided to use it on the OPFOR helicopters.

BIS gave permission for their OFP:CWC and patch models/textures to be edited. There was a post by Maruk stating this ages ago. And no, its not about copyright, but the copyright does back up our wishes of people asking permission before using our own creations.

I did read your post, but you dont seem to have read mine, i am talking about USING objects from the island, but modifying comes under the same rule. And I also was very specific that it only came down to things actually created by our team, which ebud seemed to miss, so obviously this doesnt include things we have used but not created (like the BIS models). And yes, using models on an island without permission, even without modifying, is a violation of copyright, doing anything with them apart from what we specifically allow you to do would be a violation of the copyright. They aren't editing or changing any of BAS' objects. They are just making another island with existing objects.....and they might come up with something good. They absolutely do have to ask, everything we have created is copyrighted to us, whether it has a notice or not, and the point of the addon being free of charge also makes no difference, you MUST have our permission to modify or use any of our work. Not only that but it is common courtesy to ask, so if you wish to use objects or any piece of work from any BAS releases that have been created by the BAS team, you must ask for permission.

No, JAM is not a remote addon, it wont work unless the user actually has it, its just like every other addon. It codes the magazines and weapons into OFP, what the addon maker basically does is then make their weapon use that magazine, meaning that they will then be able to pick up the magazine from JAM compatible addons that carry a weapon that uses that type of magazine. Im not too sure i understand how you expected it to work, so that only the addon makers needed it? I dont understand how that would be possible and to still have the commonality of the magazines...

We had specific goals for the OPFOR and we feel we have accomplished them, they were meant to be low detail adversaries that are an alternative to the resistance/east troops that were used in missions as bad guys. We have accomplished our aims and you should be happy that you have any vehicles at all.

Just FYI, American forces wear woodland camoflauge in the jungle, so the woodland delta are perfectly applicable for jungle missions. I do actually think the covert woodland rangers are better for it though, as they have the nice boonie hat. The island is not just to represent tonal, it is to be used by anyone for any african setting, as i showed earlier the majority of Africa is Christian and so a Christian/Catholic church is not so out of place. The history is there to give people a basis for missions set on Tonal, but the island could easily double as any of the other african countries.

Hehe I found this silly when I saw a catholic church in an African island. I would guess that a lot of catholics would be persecuted in some third world countries.. Why on earth would you think that? In Africa more than half of the population are Christians (split up between the many different types of churches). Remeber Islam is also not a native religion of Africa and infact has much less followers than Christianity in Africa, so a Catholic church is not so out of place.
