yeah, a lot of the ideas in this were used in the cobra though, like the tandem seating, the undernose turret with two weapons, and wings, so the cobra is kinda a mix of this and the huey thats been squashed to a width of about a couple of feet and it ends up looking like this: (The AH-1G prototype, with retractable skids, also experimenting with the M197 gun and the TOW missiles for use on the marines cobras/AH-1Q)

we havent started serious work on them yet, we have some models in progress but at the minute we are taking a break/doing BAS work/bugfixing -
the Sioux has seen plenty of real combat...the Sioux Scout hasnt...

actually...they did make a gunship version in '62, the Bell 207 Sioux Scout: [it may not look too much like it but it is a Bell 47, it just has a changed front end/skids and the framwork is covered] a lot of its development went on to be used in the Bell 209 Cobra, only one Sioux Scout was made, they also used the Sioux for testing whether aircraft mounted rocket artillery/guns were effective some time after the korean war i believe, so thanks to this chopper we now have lots of pretty gunships anyway, in answer to what you said, having grenades and smoke grenades on observation helicopters was a pretty common occurance, in the vietnam war it would have done pretty much the same job as the OH-6A, and was replaced by it in early '68, i wouldnt mind seeing another version pretty much mirroring what the OH-6A has as well as smoke grenades/standard grenades, possibly giving the gunner something like an M16/.38/M79/M14 if martin wants something different than the M60...

heh i just checked...and it would actually have been more appropriate for the marines for him to just use the GD: http://fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/row/wolf.htm edit: either way, i remember frandsen saying he thinks the marine FAV doesnt look good, as he made it a long time ago, im not sure he was trying to make the chenowth FAV, probably a fictional hybrid of some sort

you need to make a new folder in your ofp/user//missions folder and name it tourofduty1_75.seb_iatrang , extract the contents of the zip into there, and while you are there open the mission.sqm (with notepad, and delete the "F4Phantom" (or similar) for the top set of addons it says are required

The programs for ofp are free, for 3d modelling there is Objektiv2Light (Also known as Oxygen, youll need both the viewer and oxygen light, and grab everything else on there), for world making you'll need WrpEdit v0.93 and some other tools, they will be outlined in tutorials, best place i know of for them is OFP Editing Center WrpEdit Forum Hmmm, im being strangely helpful :/ -

i think the defend base mission might need some tweaking (3rd mission in), at the minute the T-54's slaughter the M60's and M101A1 and the explosions of the tanks kill nearly all the troops, leaving me with three laws to take on 3 t-54's and aboiut 3 squads of vc, not fun as i said earlier switching the M60's to M48A3's will probably fix this, i just did a quick test on flat land with the M48A3's vs T-54's, the outcome was 3 T-54's destroyed, one badly damaged, 2 M48A3's destroyed, one badly damaged, so they are pretty evenly matched but of course with the inferior crewmanship and other factors the americans are marginally on top, but, in the mission the M48's would be sitting ducks and the T-54s come over a hill with lots of terrain to hide behind, so i think it would be balanced edit: just tried 4 BIS M60's versus 4 T-54's and all M60's were destroyed for one T-54 loss

i see an awful lot of panels, and an awful lot of shadows/different colours, plenty for detailing. brsseb seems to have accomplished it to a degree, although your RAH-66 seems to have a lot better features.

those scripting features sound amazing, and the model looks awesome in the screenshots (still downloading), i know you probably think i bitch about all your addons, so here it is, the only thing i could see that could use some improvement are the textures, maybe some detailing on them, but other than that it looks fantastic

i havent got that far, im trying to survive the helo landing on the second mission, ive only seen it land once and then i didnt have enough laws to take out the tanks, i agree with Bronski this could use some tweaking, maybe making the huey land further away, and maybe only one t54, or two t54's and put 90mm recoilless rifles in the crates (and on a couple of the teammates), looks like converting to the nam pack 2 may be harder than it first looks, good luck avonlady

i dont think any US Armed forces use the M60E3, AFAIK only the navy seals still use an M60 and its the M60E4 (also called the MK 43 Mod 0 i think), the marines use the M240G and the army use the M240B, as well as both using the M249 but that has a different role to the 7.62mm LMG's
